Well of course you could go and just partake with the later explanation that Jesus found you worthy ten or so years ago, but like Joe, and the current GB, you didn't tell them or act accordingly because of 'due season'

ahhh...how refreshing to have this perspective each week as I dread sitting through this drivel at the podium!
RR missed your comments!
What gets me about this article is the whole "battle formation" stuff, that is newish. What happened to the battle of Jericho? What about beating our swords into plows? Letting the angels smite, while we were signed-up for clean-up detail?
Again missed your presence RR

The need for Rhogam also led me to discarding the WTS view of medical blood. I knew when I contacted NY with questions and every single response was "matter of conscience" that this was heading the way of organ transplants. I persisted in double checking the pubs all they way back to the 40's, that is when I confirmed that Woodward was behind the concept. When I was very young and 1975 didn't happen I remember hearing about the vaccinations ban and how he was a quack. Searching the internet I came across Bulgaria, which only again confirms the WTS lack of commitment to the doctrine. It makes me sick/angry/sad everytime I hear about someone dying after refusing blood because of the WTS.

what is the official JW view on bible students?
by hamilcarr inwhile visiting some bible students sites, i wondered what the official jw view on these organizations is.
are they part of babylon the great simply because of refuting the post-1916 developments and the governing body?
as far as i know, they do not adhere to any of the false teachings jw like to refer to in debunking the rcc and traditional protestantism, such as hellfire, trinity, immortal soul.

The gem I appreciate most about the Bible Students is there insistance that Russell isn't the founder of the JWs, Rutherford has that title all to himself. After comparing the doctrines, I tend to agree.

Literature published by Charles Russell that is locked away.
by Bjort inwhen i was a teenager, my family and i had the privilege of visiting the watch tower society, receiving an extensive tour as we had longtime friends working there.
while visiting we were walking past a locked chamber with many many books in it that absolutely no one was able to touch or read.
this was literature that was written/published by charles taze russell.

Welcome to the Board!
Well if you are really interested in what the books said, simply google the Bible Students. Most of their sites have Russells writings. All the ZWTs are on www.ctrussell.us and is a great site for Russell material. Rutherford and early Knorr are a bit harder. www.strictlygenteel.co.uk has some stuff. Google books, has Finished Mystery and one of the editions of Harp of God. Many fine JWD posters upload books and tracts in PDF. Try using the search button above and searching PDF.

Why I think I chose the study of psychology
by Alex Delta inin the 1960s my mother and father came to this country knowing one language, one religion, and what hard work ethics were.
they were in a complete aw of what america was like.
they came here with very little knowledge and very little monies, so wed be safe to say that they were very gullible right.

Just some advice about a pysch degree.....the minimum to be viable in the workforce is a Masters. The higher the better though since retiring to teach psych is a nice fall back and can continue well into your 80's or longer.

What is the motives of the GB?
by sweet pea inok guys and dolls, want your input here.
a friend of mine has a question...... .
"the brothers in bethel/headquarters seem very sincere and loving - what possible motive would they have in trying to deceive people, what do they get out of it?

If it is true that Ted is the ringleader, then I am not sure if we have seen the real motives of the younger appointees. Right now I think the motive is to keep afloat. Ray Franz's experience is not envied by the members but I would assume serves more as a warning for those who might have the notion to get biblically accurate.
Who knows, I bet the legal department wrote into the bylaws of 2000 the removal of the GB if they feel necessary.

I know it's illegal, but would a good old-fashioned INTERVENTION work?
by OnTheWayOut ina loved one is a jw.
it's not a hardcore cult, but it's a mind-control cult.. (the purpose of this thread is not to argue that point, but to answer the thread question.).
i am not proposing that i hold a loved one against their will, but would a straightforward.

Nope, best to use the same tatics we all were taught in field service. Get them talking and then inject something thought provoking at the right moment. Or to gain their confidence slowly enough for them to be comfortable discussing their doubts or issues, then validating the point while sharing some other concern.

Do you have to speak out to be DF for apostacy?
by MissingLink ini'm a bit confused.
i've been worried that i'm going to be df for apostacy because i no longer believe core jw teachings.
i don't have an intention on protesting or strirring things up, but i'm worried because i will not lie to elders if they ask me what i think about things (in a shepherding call).

You have to stubbornly hold to and speak about the apostasy. Or you can be accused if you support or promote (words or actions) false religions or interfaith activities (this one gives you the chance to bring up the many interfaith associations the WTS has enjoyed under the guise of legality). If someone tries to use the letter DocBob mentions you will need to be able to reference the Flock book.
If push comes to shove and the elders force a confrontation, humbly admit you are having trouble with "running ahead of the organization". You do not want to speak about it and are waiting on Jehovah. This pretty much closes the door, if they persist; keep to the line "waiting on Jehovah". Ask them to pray for you.
The 1991 "Pay Attention to Yourselves and the Flock" (sans handwritten instruction) Elder manual is available at www.watctower.cc , click on the files tabs and you can save the copy to your adobe files.
