RE: Smelly people with big hats. Even Mexican people are starting to pack it on. I have friends in Mexico City and they drink pop by the gallon. Brainwashed by Coke,etc. Otherwise they would be ok as tortillas are not very fattening by themselves.

I was never a witness, but I associate with one whom I thought was a friend "till about 2 weeks ago. I asked him about the "worldly person" nonsense. What he said really pissed me off. i said I didn't want to associate myself with someone who thought of me that way. After all, what did I do to him and this planet anyway? After calming down and reading "the Gideons" at the hotels I stayed in California,with my son on holidays, I decided to just forgive the man. I won't discuss his way anymore, but I will listen for the slightest hint of regret and maybe someday we can have a more mature discussion. One day he might wake up and need some help.

My favourite version of that song is by Judy Collins. My jw friend was never into music-one more thing we don't discuss much about. It was the best part of my teenage life. Ah the 70's.
we did it by reducing television and air conditioner usage, being more conservative about using the oven, getting rid of an old freezer, and changing our light bulbs.

If you live in an area where you don't need heat in the summer and you use natural gas, then it is wise to turn off all pilot lights. At current pricing, one pilot light burns about $10 per month. If you have a gas fireplace , then shut it down as well. Ours furnace is completely shut down(electric power as well) for about 4 months saving over $40 in the summer months. In cold seasons, we add a thick plastic sheet to our patio sliding door to help and some windows on the north side. I also have several power bars and completely shut down lots of stuff on stand by including the comp.. Works for me.

The fact that we are here indicates clearly to all that there must be a beginning. Everything has a beginning, like a tree or an invention. Anyone who is able to go further than that can only rely on faith. Unless you were there , where is the physical proof? That's why I have faith, but not religion. Alas I must bow to many here who clearly have either superior intelligence than I or some sort of "way back" machine to visit time long gone by. It seems those who jump on that bandwagon usually have some sort of motive, like the "Bushwhackers" in the Excited States. I accept Jesus as my personal savior, but not the hateful rhetoric of many evangelicals. It's unchristian to be so hateful. Or am I just an idiot? Thanks for the good words. I will ask him just what he meant with the "worldly person" phrase. When I confronted him and accused him, he did not rebuke it. I will ask him just what it meant to him. According to what I read, only baptized jw's will go to this happy la la land. And only144K have a chance to go to this paradise (I believe about 1 in every congregation) Better odds with a corrupt lottery.Maybe someone can explain to me just what it meant. Just in case you were all wondering, I was never baptized as a jw or have ever been to any of his meetings, so I am learning as I go. Too bad it's all negative-but fun notwithstanding. Thanks everyone. I have been studying faith to someone I have known for some time and is one of them. It was only recently that I started to do some of my own research and discovered things that made me cringe with pain.
I had learned about some of their buzz phrases and heard of this gem. "Worldly person" . I confronted him last week and he squirmed like a death row inmate. I told him I was aware of what it meant in their lingo. Confirming my suspicion, I then said it was disgusting and sad that he assumed I was the one going to "hell" and I said that I was aware that pedophiles were abundant in the WT and wondered if they were headed in that direction. Boy did he get outraged. I then asked if I was an apostate. (I am aware of that phrase as well). I knew the answer , and he asked me if I was searching the net. I then threw several bible verses at him, and he was so surprised . I said to him-did you expect me to take in all this stuff without doing any research and just take it -hook, line and sinker?
Well, it's been 2 weeks of holidays in Southern California and it was good to not have to worry about going"to hell". I am waiting for him to call me in a day or so. We work together in a small business. I also understand that even if I could be dissed, that it's still business as usual moneywise (funny about that).
He had often asked me to go to meetings, but I politely declined. My wife told me if I ever went to not bother not coming back. She is a wise one and is very protective of her flock.(There is an annual meeting near Easter).

Hello everyone. First post. First if anyone can give me pointers on how to use this forum as to applying the pix to the left would be appreciated. Anyway what I read recently was that originally the WTS was created by someone who then believed in the Occult-hence the name cult. That is the connection perhaps. I have 2 questions. I have asked my so called jw "friend" and so far no answers that make sense. 1) If no has met God in person, how would one know his name, and how would you assume He is in fact a he? Isn't that a secular name in the first place and isn't it really stupid that we can only assume that He might be far from the truth-after all, isn't God super human, not human-as that is a human term? 2) If there is absolutely no evolution, and all life came from Adam and Eve, then where did Africans come from as well as others in our world.(that question stumped my"friend").
Anyway I am enjoying the format as it is full of free dialogue and it is most refreshing. Best regards to all.
