Religion is control. Control is abuse. Few exceptions: Family drug abuse, ocd, credit card debt (and others). Shunning is attempting to control. To return to the abuse.

Is religion a form of abuse? Does superstition imprison the mind and keep us from living a rich, fulfilling life?

It is easy to say anything when you are hiding behind a firewall. I learned on the weekend that responding to someones rant on Craigs List opens yourself to all sorts of creepy people. Never even knew it existed 'till last Friday. Had no idea what I did, 'till all sorts of hatred and probing started to appear. This stalker found pictures of me from some movies I worked on a few years ago. Started to post my name and personal info.
Now, I have nothing to be ashamed of. The pictures were from background performing here in Vancouver. I believe a commercial as well. The guy did not like my political leaning and independant thought. The person is repeating the piece over and over with his own talking points. Every day. Like he or she is not dealing with a full deck.
Take a look if you wish. Craigs list. Pick your own city , to see the hatred and disgusting garbage. These people are human? You would never know.

If they were competetively priced, I would have considered one, in 2005. The Sienna was 32,000. The extended Venture with 8 passenger, dvd, and stereo with info center was 12,000 less. I think money in the bank is a better choice.
At 106,000km, I had front brake pads changed. Same original tires, and battery.
My friend bought an 06'Sienna, and he has had the battery replaced at 50,000km, and tires replaced at 57,000 km. As a trade last fall (before the recalls), he was offered a mere 17,000 bucks allowance.
Perhaps they were a better machine in the 90's? Google "engine oil sludge" and read all about engine problems as well.
Elsewhere has a point in that electronics are a disaster in cars with constant electro-static build-up. I wonder how many here have had their computers frozen for unexplained reasons? Imagine that on a car.
All manufacturers must stop, and return to linkages on the pedals and transmissions. A brake to computer emergency idle reset would be a good choice.

this happened once before, a few months back, i just deleted it, but found it curious that he hadn't removed all "known apostates" from his address book.. .
this time, i couldn't let it pass.

So the planet is going to lose its orbit. So, Witnesses only will survive as the planet wanders out of orbit and either freezes, or slams into the sun.
Wow, the beginning of the end. Anyone else going to lose some sleep tonight? I thought not.

Whos smarter, Catholics or J.W.s?
by wheelwithinwheel inas i was growing up my dad would always make a special effort to enlighten his catholic brother-in-law.
hed ask my uncle to get out his catholic bible and show him scriptures.
one of his favourite arguments was the doctrine of the popes infallability.

Any religion that seeks to control, is a religion that gets a thumbs down. I have friends in Mexico City and I just don't understand the need for all the rituals. They program their kids from a very young age.
However I do not believe that they shun. That is childish.
This court finds that Catholics are smarter. More honest too.

How many on this board are multi-millionaires?
by worldtraveller inpalin refers to herself as one of the little people, as in the above post, but i believe she has quite a bundle in assets and cash.. so multi-millionaires are "little people"?
don't you have to be filthy rich to be an elitist?
yet more hypocracy from this thumper..
-
worldtraveller
Maybe I should rephrase the question.
How many here are elitist?
