Did You Donate Contributions To The Hall & Society?
by minimus inmy mom told me that the elders spent a lot of time in the service meeting expressing the need for donations.
they showed that area congregations were even remodeling their halls yet they weren't even covering needed expenses in their own hall for utilities!
within the same pep talk evening, they read a letter from the society thanking them for the congregation's $200 donation!

2 great actors. Robert, and Joe. I am not familiar with this movie, but it reminds me of Goodfellas. Bit too violent for me. All you ppl who donated should be as mad as hell. Since when could you buy your way into this new world? Give your heads a shake, and demand it. Your money would have done some good donating to the Red Cross, ar the Sally Ann. Instead it bought real estate.

Anyone else setting up the Christmas tree or thinking of it already?
by WTWizard inbeing that i like the looks of the christmas lights and that i have had 20 years of not being able to set them up, i have already taken the step of setting up the christmas tree.
on it are huge amounts of lights--12 sets of c6 led bulbs (they come 60 to a set) plus a set of 70 miniature leds for the top region.
i ran out of c6 bulbs about halfway up the tree (not to worry, i have the other 6 sets on order and they should be arriving today).. there are some things to think about when setting up a holiday tree out of "season".

To avoid the rainy season here, it's Labour Day weekend I usually start for the outside. Adding l.e.d. lights around a new retaining wall.A little here, a little there.

a) the immorality of the world is the result of evolution, since individuals with an high sex drive will have more offspring.... or.
b) the immorality of the world was introduced because adam&eve ate a forbidden fruit and obeyed an evil angel?.

by NYer Girl ini've heard the jws referred to on this site mostly as a cult.
as such, am i the only one who fears that one day the society will tell them to eliminate all of us who have been deemed apostates?
i can think of several of my old "friends" who would not hesitate to take me out.

God gave you a good sex drive. When you turn 60 and you still have it, count your blessings. I was never much of a reader, but the other day on holidays, I found a Gideons and looked up the famous John 3:16 . It was all I needed to figure it out. If there is an afterlife, then just accept your life as is and follow that little verse. Imagine people thinking you have to suck the fun out of your life, remain permanently poor, and donate every spare penny to a cult that is endlessly corrupt.
If you marry, just do your best to stay monogamus (spelling?). If you conceive, please allow your children the freedom to choose, and show them all the wonderous things the planet offers. You should do fine.

That jug of milk now exists in my mind. Just to let you know, whenever I have a moment at bedtime I sometimes pray quietly, but only for help with someone I know that suffers-either physically or sometimes spiritually. I cannot recall asking for something personally .

Just realized something interesting. Jw's are God fearing ppl, and have squat to do with Christmas, But my completely atheist friends celebrate Christmas like they were baptized Catholics. Funny that.

What do I do when jw wife feels down / "uninterested" in spiritial things?
by Check_Your_Premises inevery so often, say once or twice a year, my wife gets kind of down.. she goes through a period of inactivity in her jw duties.
it usually has to do with field service.
she hates field service.

Could be some menopause issues in the mix. My wife has some depression going on (for many years) and I had to learn that it wasn't my fault. I felt guilty that somehow I contributed to it. These days I quietly observe to make sure there is little harm going on and always help around the house. I seldome offer suggestions because I am not a doctor, but if I ever saw any effort to make a real change, I would be supporting her fully. She has become somewhat of a shopaholic, so I avoid temptation by going places with little to buy. In your case, if the problem is being a jw, then taking her to places that are truly fun, and showing her how real people live, maybe it might catch on that you don't have to buy your way to the pearly gates. Be patient, and good luck.
