I have seen eveangelical type youth dance like they are on hot coals. I wonder if they looked at themselves on tape would they think it's as silly as I think it is?

Truly bizarre that they HAVE to move the border to gain access to a river that is only feet away? It's not like it's in a foreign country?
It's also wierd that here in the Vancouver we have soooo much drinking water that goes into the ocean. Enough to sell to the entire western states of the US.

My eulogy for my father yesterday
by LennyinBluemont inmy father died last monday, the 4th at the age of 82. he had suffered from severe alzheimers for the last few years.
his funeral was yesterday.
as my brother and i made the arrangements (my mother died in 2003) he suggested and i agreed that we would each give a eulogy.

We all are so sorry to hear of your loss of your father. Alzheimers took my dad away in about a year or so.

Do you still pray?
by Layla33 ini was wondering about this the other day before i went to sleep, out of habit and my spiritual beliefs now, i spoke to the spiritual realm above and asked for guidance and protection.. i remember my journey of leaving the jw "borg" (a new term i have picked up here - i like it!
) and at first i refused to pray at all, and then i wasn't sure i wanted to or not, and then i developed my own sense of the higher power above and spirituality and every night before i sleep, i feel blessed to have another day of life, to do it all again.
even on days when i am not having such a good day, i take time to ask the higher realm for strength and direction.

Need advice Memorial
by spoopy ini left the troof (forced df, i may tell the story in the future) i had absolutely no contact with my family for 7 years.
even after years of research and every day for years as a lurker on jwd, in a moment of weakness, because i thought i was missing something i went back.
i figured i could take the good and ignore the bad and everything would be o.k.

I see no harm in just going to the Memorial every year. Did not the bible mention something about telling the truth. Why not try telling the truth to yourself? I cannot fathom living a lie especially to myself. In the long run being honest with yourself is a better choice.
Why condone and support a cult that feeds on corruption? I can honestly say I do shun. But it is to All Witnesses. I have no interest in supporting a bunch of crooks and liars.

growing up jw sucks big time.
out in the cold in service, out in the heat in service, 30 hours a week of meetings, service, prep, family study (at least) on top of homework, chores, limited access to friends, getting dragged in front of a jc every time a stupid rumor comes up, constant pressure to "narc" on your friends, no extracurricular activities, no higher education, having to hate everyone not a jw etc, having to kiss ass to anyone who has abused you/screwed you over if you don't have "proof"... any more reasons?

CD is right on about the technique to win an arguement with a Witness. I refuse to engage them. I simply will not talk to one. Not shunning. Just simply indifference. No thanks. Not interested. Frustrates them more than anything else! I proved it last Sept. when I said I want no more of our chats. He said he got angry. I said tough. Too bad because I chat here with free will as I do with my close friends.
I had no choice. The gibberish was becoming nonsensical.

No plan for two years.....but oompa is taking his life back!!!
by oompa inone day at a time....and have found what may be an incredible ally in this quest.
someone who has kicked depression and booze and has even helped sober her dad up and he is a pitiful story.....jw....multi-millionair elder/pioneer who lost it all....due to bi-polor and booze....was in prison for two years on booze crimes, but has now been sober for almost three years.....his daughter is an incredible woman massage therapist, and also teaches holistic healing.....don't know a lot about that, execept i have been helped a lot by accurpuncture and they take this holistic approach...bit btw here.....angie has helped totally awaken her dad and brother!!!!
i am so excited to have found someone who wants to help me, thinks they can, and have sooooo much in common with and i will let you know if she can walk on water.............i am taking back my life!!!

Damn, Oompa. You have got to stop the yo-yo lifestyle. You have reminded me of my brother tonight.
He stayed sober a few days- he got shitfaced the rest. Added a little of this-a little of that.
April 7 1995 he put a gun to his head.
I don't want to hear or see any more crap like this anymore. It really hurts to see someone doing this. Please think about the concequences. Good night my friend.
