I just hope my kids aren't as exposed to the crap their parents and grandparents had to deal with.
I just want them to have a comfortable existence. A reasonable, happy heart.
so my 15 year old girl at quite, the age", is riding in the car with me as we are driving back from the dentist.
we have a little 4 year old passenger and as we drive we notice someone has stolen a street camera from above the stoplight system.
three city workers in bright jackets are standing and staring at it perplexed and it is a rather amusing site.
I just hope my kids aren't as exposed to the crap their parents and grandparents had to deal with.
I just want them to have a comfortable existence. A reasonable, happy heart.
no holidays, no birthdays, no school sports, no "worldy" associations, no extracurriclar school activities whatsoever, no higher education, no smurfs, no harry potter, no speaking to family members who have been df'd or da'd, and of course, total control over one's free time, are all characteristics of the miserable cult of the watchtower.. it seems like depriving witnesses of all joy in life is the objective of the watchtower cult.
i'm no psychologist, but i can't help but believe the "joy deprivation" inflicted upon witnesses by the exploitive watchtower cult is part and parcel to their control objective.
it's a way to measure just how much control they have over folks, to ensure they will drink the kool aid at the right time and upon command.. i was born into this cult, and left it in my early teens, after a rather ugly period of defiance.
I've got joy joy joy joy -down in my heart-where? Down in my heart. Where? Down in my heart!
How can one say they are not happy? The best part about being a Witness is that no Witnesses come knocking at your door- boy would that be a really stupid waste of time.
Is it true that they are not permitted to have windchimes? Ours sound so nice-tubular metal-on a windy day they actually put me to sleep.
Other than a life, what else are they denied?
Hope this is better:
They Walk Among Us
and Many Work Retail
I was at the checkout of a K-Mart. The clerk rang up $46.64 charge. I gave
her a fifty dollar bill. She gave me back $46.64. I gave the money back to
her and told her that she had made a mistake in MY favor. She became
indignant and informed me she was Educated and knew what she was doing, and
returned the money again. I gave her the Money back ..
same scenario! I departed the store with the $46.64.
They Walk Among Us and

I walked into a Starbucks with a buy-one-get-one-free coupon or a Grande
Latte. I handed it to the girl and she looked over at a little chalkboard
that said "buy one-get one free." "They're already buy-one-get-one-free,"
she said, "so I guess they're both free".
She Handed me my free Lattes and I walked out the door.
They Walk Among Us!
One day I was walking down the beach with some Friends when one
of them shouted, "Look at that dead bird!" Someone looked Up at the
sky and said, "Where"?
They Walk Among Us!
While looking at a house, my brother asked the Real Estate Agent which
direction was north because, he explained, he didn't want the sun waking him
up every morning. She asked, "Does the sun rise in the north?" When my
brother explained that the sun rises in the East, and has for sometime, she
shook her head and said, "Oh I don't keep up with all that stuff."
They Walk Among Us!!
I used to work in technical support for a 24/7 call center. One day I got a
call from an individual who asked what hours the call center was open. I
told him, "The number you dialed is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week." He
responded, "Is that Eastern or Pacific time?" Wanting to end the call
quickly, I said, "Uh, Pacific."
They Walk Among Us!
My sister has a lifesaving tool in her car designed to cut through a seat
belt if she gets trapped. She keeps it in the trunk.
They Walk Among Us!
My friends and I were on a beer run and noticed that the cases were
discounted 10%. Since it was a big party, we bought 2 cases. The cashier
multiplied 2 times 10% and gave us a 20% discount.
They Walk Among Us!
I couldn't find my luggage at the airport baggage area, so I went to the
lost luggage office and told the woman there that my bags never showed up.
She smiled and told me not to worry because she was a trained professional
and I was in good hands. "Now," she asked me, has your plane arrived yet?"
They Walk Among Us!
While working at a pizza parlor I observed a man Ordering a small pizza to
go. He appeared to be alone and the cook asked Him if he would like it cut
into 4 pieces or 6. He thought about it for some time before responding.
"Just cut it into 4 pieces; I don't think I'm hungry
enough to eat 6 pieces."
Yep, They Walk Among Us!

im in bed trying to get shut eye and just cant because of this repeating question that i have in my head.
i know what the answer is to the question, but i need to hear it from the horses mouth.
so in my 30th hour of being awake i get the courage to dial 411 and call my father whos an elder that i havent spoken to for 10 years.
ALWAYS ALWAYS answer your phone. Not answering a phone from a relaitve causes anxiety that is unbelievably painful. Let me tell you about my experience.
My mom was very sick and it was her twilight time. I always phoned her at least once a week. But she no longer answered her phone. She hid the phone in her closet and covered it with pillows. So when I phoned, I got no answer. So naturally panic settled in and another trip to her place was in order. It got so bad she eventually refused to open the door.
So on that fateful Saturday morning, I actually got a call from her neighbour complaining about a bad odor. I tried to phone, but once again, no response. So another trip to the condo.
Now just as the elevator door opened, the shock of the stench went through me like a knife. At that point I knew it was all over. She passed away shortly after my last visit and died alone.
So settle the issue, and ALWAYS answer the phone.
well - i had been wanting to do this for a long time , to question a legal department representative at bethel about the child abuse settlements and jw child abuse, since last year when the news came out about it.
especially since my dad , an elder for years was never aware of it and has on his own taken steps to see that families with children are informed if a former pedophile is in their congregation.
i was curious as to what the current views and policies in place are .
Mr Flipper the only way to eliminate this disease is with education and knowledge. Spread the word about the evils of cultism.
Spread the word-use every opportunity to make your opinions count. The big reason big media isn't that interested in this is because of the small numbers of Witnesses worldwide. .1% is too small to make a big deal about. But if you inform the media about the pedophaelia and shunning, they would (as seen recently) be more willing as the pedophaelia scandal is a "hot topic".
once upon a time, there was a vast empire that was born of out events around 1914. it demanded that its youth become "pioneers".. it grew rapidly and published endless statistics of growth.
it attracted an ever-growing number of desperate people in the 3rd world.. however, what no one seemed to notice, amidst all the evidence of its growing might, was that its empire was a money losing proposition.
and that it made endless numbers of enemies thru its aggression.
Whe I first read the title of this thread "fastest growing religion" I automatically assumed "The Nation of Islam".
So when I realized it was about you know what I thought "are you kidding"? The Witnesses encompass point 1 of 1 percent. Hardly a number to get excited about. Now Islam I am concerned about. Not so mcuh the local mosque, but the extremists that want to kill every cracker on the planet. That does worry me.
However given the topic IS about the Witnesses, it is easy to eliminate a cult like this with education like we have here. If you eliminate anyone converting to a JW, in about 60 years, most of the individuals in the society will no longer exist and the society will then be just a blip in the history books.
Remember everyone- - - -education.
when i start topics on the bible i'm not trying to pick a fight i'm really trying to understand why some people stick to the belief that the bible is the inherent word of god.. when i figured out that the wtbs was full of s*&t i started to research the bible to learn more about it and to have a better understanding of what god wanted from me but to my surprised i found more then was expected.. i have to go now but i will continue after work....
Hello StAnn. Welcome to the forum. Can I assume you were once a Witness? If that is the case, I can understand a slight jaded tone in your post. I guess that may be due to false teaching by the society. I wish I was as convinced as you about the story of Jesus. My problem is that there are just too many versions of what is supposed to be the truth to actually be comfortable with it at all. My problem is with the actual virgin birth. Hard for me to believe it. I think that is why I prefer to have faith rather than religion. Faith does not to be explained. In fact I cannot explain it at all. But when I have a discussion with friends and here, I get as many opinions as there are people on the forum. So I find it safer to stick with the faith I have and just listen to the various opinions of everyone that I meet.
Maybe when you have some time, you can tell us more about yourself and what you have gone through and how you have arrived at your present beliefs. I look foreward to that . Bill. PS I was never one, just lectured by one (so called bible study) for 5 years.

Wow everyone! I was just paraphrasing John 3:16. It wasn't a plan of action, just a thought that I was pondering. I certainly do not advocate that one HAS to find salvation in the first place. In fact, I really believe that salvation is from within. The Witnesses miss the boat on this one. Does anyone here actually believe that one must dedicate your entire life worshipping something that not one soul could prove actually happened exactly as stated? Dedicated Witnesses spend their eternity searching for the truth only to find a dead end at the end of the road.
Apurpose in life? Well how about not analyzing it to death and start enjoying what the planet has to offer?
Thanks Renee for waking up the thread! You are right in that if you want to be "saved" I suppose most say you have to dedicate your life. I kinda prefer to explore all God created.
Hope He doesn't mind.
