My flood questions
by Moxy ini know these topics have been well-covered in many places.
this is just me wanting to compile a list of concise reasons why i am sure the wt interpretation of the deluge is untenable.
this is my first draft.

2/3 of all JW's are women and what it implies
by Mindchild ina few weeks back, kinsman posted a link about a recent survey of religion in america which showed that 68% of all jehovah's witnesses were female, which is the highest ratio of women to men in any religion in the usa.. i believe the reason for this unbalance in adherents in favor of women comes down to two fundamental reasons.
the first is shunning and the second is the appeal of the "family type atmosphere" that the witnesses pretend to offer.. we all know the power of shunning keeps a lot of people trapped inside the collective, and just due to the fact that women are enculturated more with having emotional bonds with others, makes it a bit tougher to leave family and friends behind.
this doesn't mean that men don't suffer emotionally, but the general trend is more for men to suppress their feelings and damn the emotional torpedoes and go full speed ahead out of the bad dream.. this suggests to me, that if there is a major modification of the shunning policy, the largest exodus will be in the female ranks.

Reasoning on reasons for disfellowshiping
by jed459 inthe only valid scriptual reason for disfellowshipping is if someone has committed a serious sin like having sex with his father's wife as paul said and is unrepentant.. or if someone has denied the faith and are deliberately teaching others against the true gospel to mislead them.
so unless jws really do have the true faith, they cannot scriptually disfellowship anyone unless they are unrepentant over a sin which is as serious as paul said.
yet in most cases the disfellowshiped person has not commited such a sin as that.

Just like any other cult, without shunning of family freinds and members they would eventualy die out.

FARTING at the meetings
by gambler ini'm sure you all have some good comical stories of pple farting during prayer or other quiet times during meeting.
as a personal experience of mine, the night before i had eaten a frozen pizza, doritos, and some old chocolate milk.
this combination produced the worst smelling brew i have ever had.

Wow, two thirds that alot.I too often wondered why there were more women in the congragations.I think more men are able to just chuck everything and walk away than women.I think the women are alot more emotionaly envolved making the fear and guilt factor harder to break free from.I think men tend to be slightly better analitical and critical thinkers whitch is disaster for the wtbts. sorry to streotype

The most common way to get marked is to marry an unbeliver. But in my congo a couple was marked for having a messy house, they were later disfelowshiped. The hallmark of how unloving they are.

As a personal experience of mine, the night before I had eaten a frozen pizza, Doritos, and some old Chocolate MIlk. This combination produced the worst smelling brew I have ever had. It was the kind that hung around a half hour after passing. I was in the back row and decided to let loose for about 5 minutes. Although they were silent, that chair must have stunk for a month. I could tell half the hall smelled the toxic fumes. Fortunatly for me, I was sitting next to a bunch of younger kids who were known to LOUDLY fart often at meetings. And they indeed got the blame!
Any one else have any fart stories?

Is anyone looking for an ex-dub roommate?
by Mindchild ini thought i would post this and see what happens.... i'm wondering if anyone in the ex-dub community and who lives in the usa is looking for a roommate right now?.
my business requires me to do a lot of traveling but for several reasons i've decided that i want to have a home base where i can leave my stuff, make myself some home cooked meals (resturant food gets old if you eat out all the time) and just do some r&r on my days off.
i can certainly afford to rent an apartment or house (up to $1,000 a month) but then there is no cool people to talk with and all that jazz.
