  JW's and Internet. Wikipedia?

  jh posted a thread about how wikipedia clearly shows how goofy the doctrine of jw's has been in changing over the years.

  so it makes me wonder could wikipedia be the driving force in the no "independent" study?

  i know that my whole family uses wikipedia often and use it as a respected source when researching things.

  we found this quiz after reading the book parenting beyond belief and sweetpea and i decided to take the challenge - afterall how difficult can 50 bible questions be for us born and brought up as jw's?.

  our results were enlightening to say the least - we both scored 28/50 - not exactly brilliant although apparently above average.. take the quiz and post your results and comments..

  Besty - what did you think of the book "Parenting Beyond Belief"? Is this the best one on the subject? This is one of my wife's big concerns. She's still mentally half "in". She's afraid that we can't raise our children to have morals without religion.

  Maybe not a silver bullet, but I doubt there is one. I think it takes gradual steps to get out. And this one point can be brought up, discusses for a few minutes, and then drop it. Planting doubts is the key.

  Could the widespread belief in God be evidence that he doesn't exist?

  first of all, i'm an agnostic and don't know if there is a god or not.

  however, i do think it possible to intelligently review the evidence and come to some reasonable conclusions, even if we can't have absolute certainty.

  it's a big topic, so i'll just discuss the main reason that many people believe in god.

  Thought provoking stuff. I never considered that.

  But is belief in god a heritable trait? If 2 athiests reproduce and 2 worshipers reproduce and the children are raised outside their parent influence - would the athiest child be less likely than the worshiper's child to have a "feeling" that there is a god?

  they were in the ark for such a long time, must have been pretty messy not to mention unhealthy, must have been a high mortality rate, causeing wide spead disease, and death due to the very unsanitary condition in that ark?

  God could have done anything. Clearly, that's why he designed the ark as actually a tardis. It was larger on the inside than the outside. This is how all of the animal species and food fit inside. We can say with great certainty that the animal shit was burned to create energy to power the force-fields that kept out the water. Evidently god hadn't worked out the time travel bit yet, so Noah had to ride it out for a year. But this gave him extra opportunities to prove his faith. What a glorious priviledge.

  German Branch Calls Foreign Congregations to Help German Congregations!

  there has been some rumour that the growth in most developed countries comes from imigrants.

  while this has been stated by cos and dos it is now official in germany.

  the kingdom ministry for february 2008 states that in germany there are 36,000 foreign publishers in 531 congregations und 272 groups.

  This must just be to "repopulate" the german congregations. I doubt having this help in the ministry in the native territory since the Germans are very logical people and will not quickly dismiss all of the evidence against the JWs. Not to mention the fact that they aren't extremely welcoming and won't appreciate these foreigners knocking on their doors.
