Yes, that's a freaky paragraph. To paraphrase
Jehovah has done some crazy stuff before and it worked out. So we may in the future tell you to do something crazy. If you don't listen, then you'll die.
To which the congregation responds with pride "Here I am lord, send me, send me".
On a positive note - if they DO do something crazy soon, then perhaps loads more of our family and friends who aren't too far gone will wake up and get out.

i find it odd that jehovah's witnesses don't find anything odd about how 'new light' is distributed.
i mean - if this new light comes from jehovah god himself, the creator of the universe and everything in it, wouldn't it be fair to say that it would happen more like in this story:.
My wife is reading CoC. (I'm so proud of her! ) And she is just shocked by it all. This very point of "where does new light come from"; she commented how it was just a bunch of old guys fighting about their own views. The r&f don't have a clue that this is the process. The top GB dude kicks the bucket, and all of a sudden a whole load of new light appears! Wow.
it's strange and i'm not sure if it's because of my upbringing, but i just can't be pro-choice.
i just don't see the rational justification (other than a situation where the mother's life is in danger).
i don't, however, see a problem with stuff like the morning-after pill, when the embryo is just a group of cells with no consciousness.
Its a tough one alright. For the hard-core pro-choicers - what is the cut off? Is one day before birth OK to kill a baby? If so - why not any time before the baby is 1 year old. They really don't know much at that point anyway?
I've seen horrendous videos of abortions and the baby is clearly aware that something is wrong when the tools are coming at him. That to me is just evil.
But before the brain is developed? Maybe that's a different matter? Should POTENTIAL life have rights? Not sure about it.

Dawg - that was a powerful letter. I can't totally understand what you're going thru since only my parents are witnesses, not the extended family.
I think it's critical to protect the children from the JW BS. But as for my parents - they're getting old, and I'm thinking maybe for them having this hope is OK. I wont try to tear it down from them. If they were to lose their friends (they do have really good friends), it would be devastating. For them, I think the false hope may be OK. As long as they don't try to indoctrinate MY children.

If you use their reasoning you could say that the Jews in Nazi Germany were a very united people. They all wore the same clothes and did the same things all of the time. Truly a sign that they were god's approved people? The witnesses are "united" because nobody is allowed to think. Thinkers are quicky removed, and the rest are living under fear and guilt to keep them in line.

Look in the Insight book under Jehovah and it says the same thing...not and exact quote but "we find it most unusual that there are no exisiting ancient manuscripts (in the entire frikking world) that contain the divine name in the Christian Greek Scriptures".......so as it says later....."so called christians.. (apostates) must have remvoed it"....so by WTBTS standards you can not trust the bible because it has been altered by satan and his cohorts.....What else could have been changed if God cant keep his own name in the bible?
Oompa - That is a great argument. If god couldn't even protect his name from being removed from his book, then how can we trust that everything else didn't get changed. (this is assuming that it was at one time correct, but that's a whole other argument)
