  Sizemilk I agree with you on the personal qualities of Mr Uthank they are a non issue here as he is not involved in the proceedings.

  I can not see the The WTS has any gorounds to challenge the law at all, this law about is protecting children and ensuring that those who may come into contact have had some checks done on them to see if they have a criminal record, how they could see that compliance will infringe thier religious freedoms i can not imagine, and if they did i do not believe that they would win. If they win on a technicality it would be a pyrrhic victory due to the bad publicity they would receive, and that the state would not allow any lacuna to continue.

  My impression from reading this thread is that MR Uthank began proceedings and that the state has decided the matter is serious enough to begin proceedings itself, on the basis that a crime may have been committed. In the UK Mr Uthank would be free to continue with civil proceedings against the WTS, but would likely wait till the criminal case had been decided.

  Why the WTS is waiting to comply with these laws mystifies me, non compliance with similar laws in The UK is non negotiable, end of. This is either incompetence or arrogance on thier part, and I suspect both.

  From what I have seen I can only see there can only bo one of two outcomes, The WTS complies or it is prosecuted, and then complies. The bad publicity alone will do immense damage to the wts.

  Favourite book is The Little Prince by Antoine de St Exupery.

  Recently read the Stieg Larsson trilogy,saw the last two as movies too.

  Enjoyed the Ken Folett books as well.

  Never let me go by Kazuo Ishiguru quite quite dark, as was the film

  i do feel kinda silly since this is something most people do anyway, you know, it's a regular, ordinary thing to do.... there's the av referendum and the local elections in england.

  i went out this morning and voted.

  it felt so good to have a say, to make my 'voice' heard!

  as my journey to leave the wbts was in its infancy i was speaking to an old friend who had always been a surrogate mom to me.

  i had pioneered with both her sons (one of which is now an elder, the other is gay).

  i was addressing some of my concerns re: the wts.

  There was no contract at all, not in legal sense anyway; the person making the statement has little idea of law, they are doing the guilt trip bit, end of. She was using the idea of a contract possibly as a metaphor, come analogy, when doing such she needs to be careful that by doing such, the analogy does not bite her, which in this case it does.

  If it is a contract and it has been fulfilled, where is the fulfillment?? What are the ramifications if either party wishes to withdraw, in your case death, according to them, umm does not sound to much of a contract ( pardon the pun) to me, more blatant coercion . I could go on, but really no need, you get the idea.

  Look up contract on Wikipedia, which gives a basic idea of the Law of Contract.

  Here in Europe the most successful economy is that of West Germany, they enshrine union rights in thier legislation, for them there is a deal to be done between the unions and business; they get it big time. Wal Mart withdrew when they tried to set up there, The Germans welcomed them on condition they recognise the rights of trade union, Wal Mart did not like the idea, so the German bid them good bye.

  Also seared in the collective psyche is an aversion to debt, both personal and state.

  Interestingly the Germans also invest thier future by making further education available cheaply to all.

  The guy is a dinosaur, anachronistic and out of touch, poor guy.

  No fault divorce ruins the family structure; where is the evidence for this assertion? No fault divorces were created to remove the corrosive attribution of blame when relationships break down beyond repair, to me this is a grown up approach. We in The UK do not have this, sadly.

  What was the point about the enfranchisement of men then women? How does this affect marriage and cause its breakdown? again where is the evidence? For a society to be free all must be given the vote, look to the Middle East where women are largely disenfranchised for examples of dysfunctional societies.

  Then he goes on to rant about absent fathers, duh, the fathers are often absent because they choose to be allot of the time, often paying little if anything toward the upkeep of thier children.

  I am the father of of a 17 year old daughter and she knows my views, women should be able earn their own living firstly; for thier own self esteem, and secondly, so that when they enter relationships they enter on equal terms. Should the relationship then fail, they will find it easier to exit. I know many women who remain in relationships because they are financially dependant on the man., that is toxic and destructive for all concerned.

  This guy has little to say of merit imo and is an example of a mindset that hopefully will become less an less in evidence.

  He is redolent of the JW mindset.
