I think Hortensia is right on target. I hope he wipes his self righteous arse with his new paper towels.

My brother is getting out of prison AGAIN on July 11th. I asked his who was one of the most scary guys he has met in prison. He is 62 and bounced around between federal and state prisons. Murder, breaking and entry, id theft, forgery ad nauseum. His response was...Manson. I was dumbfounded. Manson is mentally ill but he is still a teeny little guy. How does that crap happen. (I think my brother was trying to impress me....I wasn't).

I think we should give the girl a break. She has spent more time on a tennis court and gym than in a KH or Field Service. So what. If I looked like her I'd be selling pictures too.
Michael Jackson was "reprooved" over his "Thriller" video and was quoted in the Awake (I think not the WT) "no more Thriller".
She's just a young woman who has worked hard at her skill. She is a world class athelete..doesn't say she's the brightest bulb. Her brush with the society is her worst problem. Leave her alone. The society is the master hypocrite here.

Hey, please just stop in once in a while and let us know how you are doing. You are really valued here and we will miss you but hopefully not for ever. Just make a pit stop once in a while, okay? Please?

You may think the safety demo is BS but it's not. Here are a couple of tips. A loose seatbelt will hurt you more than help you. If you have to take a brace position before a crash it is to keep your upper body as protected as it can against the first impact which will be the biggest and if you can maintain it the following 2 (on the average) impacts. It also prevents "flailing" your arms and heads bouncing about encountering objects and creating head and neck injuries. There HAVE been water landings where people have survived. The biggest trick is to survive impact...get out...don't drown.
The biggest safety improvements are blocked due to $$$$$$$ . The FAA is filled with lobbyists (the currant head of the FAA appointed by Bush has never had ANY airline experience but did donate heavily to the Bush campaigns). The so called passenger rights organization called ATA is nothing but a group of lobbyists who represent the airlines to prevent safety laws that will cost the airlines money. Your flight attendants are trained to get the entire aircraft evacuated with a full load in under 90 seconds with half the exits blocked.
One single thing to improve survivability is to have the seats facing rear. All impact would be distributed thru the seat instead of your body against the seatbelt and your arms against the seat in front of you. But then people don't want that. People will only get safety when they demand it but they have to know what to demand.
I know that outsourcing heavy checks, reducing pilot in command authority to make on time departures..or over riding their decisions of what a no-go item is by people in operations (who do not have their ass 37thousand feet in the air) is a receipe for disaster.
As long as people will sacrifice safety for cheap fares and let airlines blame money problems on unions or employee pay and benefits people will get what they pay for.
We do not have a terrorist/safety problem in the USA. We have a CEO problem dipped in corporate greed and corporate carpet baggers. That should make you afraid....very afraid.
Not one pilot I fly with and certainly not myself will lie to passengers about what is happening to our flight. Other airlines may have a different policy. We are all in the same flying boat together.
If you truely think all the flight attendants and pilots are BS and have no trust in them then maybe you really shouldn't fly. They are the ONLY ones being honest with you and are putting their own lives on the line to save your ass.

WT publications
by dogisgod inwas visiting my mom the other day.
her jw friend was there and i asked why the magazines look so cheap these days.
the friend said that the society felt that people weren't really reading the wt because the study articles were too deep for them so they changed things and offer the awake instead.

Quandry, sounds like they are hunkering down and trying to keep things secret. I guess it's a phycho. ploy to make them feel like they are getting "special" information for their eyes only.

There are some really good "fear of flying" groups out there. Phobias don't have anything to do with logic. I watch those Aircrash and Seconds from disaster all the time. I used to be on a safety committee and went to a crash site. I do trust the pilots and their training. That's why there is more than one of them up there. Sometimes the fear has to do with an unrelated event in your life, not having a sense of control.
I just avoid older aircraft. Pay attention to that stupid safety briefing and study the card and memorize where the exits are. Mentally practice how you would evacuate. That gives you a feeling of personal control.
Take a pill.

If the society has so much money why are they cutting back on the quality and quantity of materiels? It just really looks tacky. They used to look professional. What's going on with this?
Despite their fear of the internet do you think they will eventually put everything on line and people will have to print it out for themselves? That would save them a fortune but might endanger their existance.

So, I have this conversation with my crazy JW cousin/Jw's wrong again
by dawg init all starts off pretty benign, when she suddenly says "well, you believe man can solve the problems of this world"... she says this because i've ran for political office twice, losing once.
i know where this is going... so i say "i've never said that is our only hope, i just recognize that i live in this reality today, i'm here now, and god's kingdom isn't.. it's the men here now that run things, if god ever steps in, then i'll gladly move aside as i'm sure any man would".
she says something to the effect, that we disagree on that?

I agree with you Dawg. My mom will defend the stupid rules of the society by saying "There must be order" and I reply..."that's just what the Nazi's said". For many decades the JW's had segregated congregations because "their" leaders left things wrongly as they were until the civil rights movement forced them to make a change. A change that was had for the south to take. I can't for the life of me understand their not taking a stand on this...except the borg has historically been a white mans domain.
I have thought about running for my local city counsel because I would like to see some improvements in our community and include the people living here. We are in a great transition and influx of immigrants and it should be a time of inclusion and communication.
Dawg, the more I read your postings the more I respect you and think you are a very fine man.
Have a great vacation!!!!!
