  oompa, I haven't been in service for 2 years; meetings maybe one sunday a month; last one a month ago; she lives an hour away. I moved a year ago and the new Hall doesn't have my cards, no one even stopped to ask about my Halloween decorations. I felt the need to deal with it because my mother-in-law knows people who go to Mom's Hall, and mom-in-law knows we went to a Halloween Party last night. I guess I am just feeling guilty she thinks I'm a "fellow solider".

  ninja, my screenname applies to me, my kids are always shaking their heads and saying I'm crazy. I tell them it's their fault! But I sure got a good laugh out of your suggestion.

  This is horrible. Likely she has been fed the same crap as all of us were, if you die upholding God's law, you will live forever in Paradise. If you live by breaking it you will be dead forever. I'm sure she's even being made a hero in her congregation. At 14 what better reasons to keep the fight up? It's sad that no one has told her God loves her too much to want her to go thru this, His will can't be that a child suffers because of brainwashing and fear.

  Ok guys, I have really come to respect your advice. Now I need some please.

  My sister and I left the borg at the same time, coincidentally, for different reasons. She told Mom already, as they are in the same hall. Now my Mom is viewing me as her ally. She'll call me with news and says to tell "the other two". Our brother never was babtized. I have her only grandkids and I know she'll think her whole family is going to die now. I feel very sure of our decision to leave and I feel very good that my kids are out of the influence.

  Alright, how do I tell her? I am not DF'd or DA'd, yet. But my Witness mom-in-law knows we went to a Halloween party last night, so we are going to have to deal with that today. I feel my Mom should know too, from me. You know how "good" news flies!

  things that were once fine become verboten.

  of course them banning liquor is particularly difficult to imagine, as all of the in-depth accounts of bethel depict bethelites imbibing like crazy.

  I also agree, my dad had a huge drinking problem. He was an elder and his elder friends also drank alot. Growing up we had parties at our house with alot of drinking and cards, Eddie Rabbit and Crystal Gayle blasting out of the speakers. Yes, my parents and their friends drank ALOT. My dad was so bad my sister waited for him to get drunk one night so he would sign her emancipation papers.

  He eventually died of an accidental overdose of pain pills, swallowed with a good shot of Jack.

  Dad refuses blood...

  i sit here in shock because i just found out that my father, far away in hawaii, has been in the hospital since monday.

  he has an abdominal aortic aneurysm.

  this means he could die should the aorta ruputre (and it is threatening to do so).

  Lisa, PLEASE go see your dad. And do everything you can to inform him of his choices. You may save him and if not you will have done everything you can. It is horrible having what-ifs haunting you.

  My dad died of an OD while I was not speaking to him. I even moved w/out telling him, he was DF'd. And I was saved by an elder's wife telling me my options.

  one in one out...odds of staying married...how long til you know?

  it has been sadly interesting to see fadingeld's and others experiences unfold...wife out the door pronto and some not.

  many here are still married, one in one out.

  i have basically had a sucessful unplanned fade.

  Oompa,

  For 8 years I have been the one in, all until last month. This while raising 3 kids. It is tough because being a JW should be all encompassing. My husband never discouraged me from trying to go to meetings, etc. He always made sure he showed us how much he loved me and the kids. Can you make a point of telling your wife that you miss her, and maybe start a hobby only you two do together? We rode his Harley every weekend, until our son was made! Make sure you talk and do things together. But feel free to live your life, just make sure she has a place in it. At times I did look down on him, but he made such a point of being a GREAT guy I couldn't help but see his good points.It's funny, for years I prayed my husband would come back. He never did, but I have found the truth and left the org. Maybe with your good example you can win her over without a word!

  As someone who has been where your wife is, I hope my advice can help.
