I guess we'll see how deep the WT's pockets are, if they find their way outta this one... I, personally, hope they don't. I hope this causes a major downfall for many believers.

Judge rules JW elders must testify in molestation case
by pseattle2 inthis just went up on freeminds regarding the jw elders in southern california, who have so far been stonewalling about their private conversations with accused jw child molester gilbert simental... the judge in the case has issued an order for them to testify:.
(the judge) said... "it was more like a third-party investigation into immoral conduct."...
the judge said, the elders' duty was to determine guilt and to protect the congregation, not to keep the communications under wraps.

...used false prophets or false prophecies to fulfill His purpose on Earth? Would Jesus approve of using false hopes/false expectations?
I ask this, not just to all here on this board, but to any lurking Witnesses.
Because according to the WT 10/15/54 QFR, pg. 638-9, about how they arrive at the "truth", they state:
"Even the erroneous viewpoints held by Jehovah's witnesses during the first world war served their purpose in contributing to the fulfillment of prophecy, for Jehovah had long ago foretold a condition of spiritual uncleanness upon his people at that particular time and the cleansing work that would be done. Hence such things are to be expected according to prophecy and their occurrence is a confirmation that this is Jehovah's organization, rather than a cause for raising question concerning Jehovah's use of the organization."
How in the h*ll do erroneous viewpoints "serve their purpose"? Also, from the Christian Scriptures, where is it foretold that His people would be in "a condition of spiritual uncleanness...at that particular time"?
If someone can please point out where in the Christian Scriptures Jesus used false hopes to encourage people to become his disciples, I will gladly retract my questions.
(BTW, how sneaky is it of them to state at the end that the question is NOT whether or not they are God's Organization, rather it's the question concerning "Jehovah's use of the organization".)

My life growing up as a witness...
by RFlores ini have just spent the last 4 hours reading many various posts and finally built up the courage to register and share my experiences.
i am only 20 years old, but my young age should not overlook my intelligence as an observing individual.
i was born into the religion of the jehova's witnesses.

Welcome RFlores!
You have come to the right place! This website is awesome, with tons of supportive people. Take your time and carefully examine everything you have been fed since you were young. But do not let it anger you. If you know that Jehovah is in your heart, then know that He is greater than any man-made organization on this earth. He can provide you with peace of mind when you need it most.

That time of year again... Mum and Memorial
by MisfitMeL inhere we go again... i never mention anything about the meetings or study articles or associating with other jws in emails to my mum so i think she suspects that i am not attending my local kingdom hall (which is true).
so the line in her most recent email isn't suprising - i hope you'll be attending the memorial on the 22nd of this month.
the thought of what i could reply is giving me a dangerous itch!

This is going to be my first year in NOT attending the memorial. Well... I don't know for sure yet. I officially started fading last year, but it was after the memorial. Already my mom, my sister, and brother-in-law are starting to hound me, to make sure I'm going. And they go about it the stupid way by asking "So, do you know when the memorial is? Are you going?"
Of course I know when it is, but so far I've just been avoiding the other half of the question (I'll say, "No, I'm going to a different KH"). If anything, I would like to hold my own memorial at home, so I can partake in peace. Why am I just going to sit there and pass the bread and wine? Are JW's the only religion that do this?

I'm in the same boat, too. I've told my mom why I stopped going to the KH and Assemblies, but she thinks I'm "abandoning" God. She won't listen to the voice of reason.
But I can't simply go because she wants me to. My faith requires me to read and learn about God from the bible, not from performing zombie-like behavior..
