I beleive in their doctrine of Shasta Cola and Shasta Lemon Lime. I actually liked them.
when you attended your last meeting ever as a dub, did you know it was your last?
did something happen which made it clear in your mind you were 'never going back' (not to be confused with nvrgnbk)?.
the last meeting we went to was the memorial in 2006. we only went because we knew we were already pegged for the elders' unwanted attention, so we had to go to keep them off our backs a little longer.
I don't even remember when the last meeting was, were I considered myself a JW. I haven't thought of mtself as one in many years, but hadn't told the people that really mattered to me until recently. The only thing I know for sure is that the last few I did go to, couldn't have ended soon enough.
any particular event sparked this change of heart ?.
I think the last straw was when I realized that letting my wife die, she's in need of a kidney transplant, was not an option that I was willing to live with anymore.
Don't get me wrong, many things have added up over the years, including that it smelled like bull@#$t from the beginning, but this was what finally did it.

i personally "witnessed" an ms in oklahoma take raw fish at a fish fry and start doling it out to his children to eat.. his reason?
"we need to learn to eat it this way, cause we may not have fire in the new system".

due to the way i was raised a jw i constantly felt guilt for trying to act like the other guys and it made me stand out even worse.
to this day, due to this, i nowdays become somewhat physically ill whenever i hear a brother give a talk where he says (many here have heard it in different forms) "if jehovah was looking at you youths in the congregation during school could he tell the difference between you and a worldy person.
" myself and most of the other jw guys during middle school and high school did not have the confidence or the "rough and ready to fight" type of body language so we tended to get picked on.
It's interesting that this plays right into the hands of the Org. when it comes to secondary education. The fear that you will ostracized by your classmates squelches any thoughts of furthering your education after high school. Until now, I had not realized that this happened to me, that I felt this way at 18.

we are great friends now....but he wasn't much of a father growing up.. worked all the time...we went on few vacations....pretty much pussy whipped my my nazis jw mother.. he never did believe in the whole jw thing.
he just when along with it, for my mothers sake.. she never did respect him for not being a "spiritual head" and pretty much let us kids know about it.. i, like my mother became very self rightious and judgmental.. i wished now he had just came to me just once and said "keith maybe the jws are not the people you think they are.
" but he was to afraid of my mother to say that...even though he knew it to be true.i would have never believed him....back then....but it would have planted a seed.... .
My father spent 22 months in Seagoville federal prison as a C.Objector and then promptly left the religion when he got out. He went in about the time I was born, so he wasn't around me until I was 2 years old. That was probably one of the facts that caused the biggest emotional rift between us, and we've never been real close. Otherwise, he was a hardworking, but very moody and occasionally violent person. The funny thing is, even after being out for 35 years, if you were to argue doctrine with him now, he would be extremely opposed to anything said about JW's, and still considers himself one.
