THIS is about jehovah's greatness?????? a clock??????
seriously,jehovah... you are gonna have to step it up here..... maybe after the clock you can sorta check in darfur? they need more literature.....
okay, this is the latest crazy email that i've gotten from my sister who is a happy drone within the borg.
i'm trying to imagine mayor bloomberg picking up the tab for the clock on the building .
hi guys here is a story told at the annual meeting!
THIS is about jehovah's greatness?????? a clock??????
seriously,jehovah... you are gonna have to step it up here..... maybe after the clock you can sorta check in darfur? they need more literature.....
tomorrow begins the next term at school and i've spent some spare time at break scanning.
here is a pdf of the book the gospel according to jehovah's witnesses by john francis coffey.
it was published in 1979 in australia and had a limited circulation and has been out of print for many years.
saved to desktop!!
thank you for your efforts to make the information available!
here is the link to the latest study edition of the watchtower:.

it is ocr'd and ready for searching,.
absolutely your efforts are deeply appreciated!! i dont have the first notion how you guys do what you do, but i thank you for all your time and effort
five months may as well be an hour.. .
i grieve - peter gabriel.
it was only one hour ago.
i feel your pain, wlg ...... and understand what the loss of future history in such an enduring relationship can do to your heart
godspeed you to a place of comfort
c/p
he was 17 months older than me
named micheal paul (1954-1989)
i use his birthday here instead of my own
i'm new here and am hoping to get some support and become normal again.
i'm going to tell my story below, sorry in advance for how long it is, but i've really gotta get a grip on who i am now and what i need to do.
since before my baptism and for four years, my children and i attended every meeting.
so many of your regrets echo what i am dealing with..... my oldest was 4 when i brought this cult into our family and slaved for it for 14 yrs ( been fading for 3)...... he is now 22 and a real mess...... and so much of it linked to the borg
DA letter? why bother..... evidently their interest in you is as equally faded as your belief in their propaganda....
godspeed and prosper your journey!
i've not hidden the fact that i'm an atheist, something i've come to through what i believe is thorough research and experience.
however, while i no longer consider myself religious i do believe i am spiritual.. i do not believe the universe was created by an all powerful being, but that the universe is that all powerful being.
in other words, we are all part of the universe, as are all sentient and insentient bodies, and we are subject to its laws.
many are seeking and searching!!!
there is a peer-review journal called "alternative therapies" that over the years has published articles and research on the effects/outcomes of "intercessory" prayer and distant healing.... one article, ( ALTERNATIVE THERAPIES, november 1997, VOL. 3, NO. 6) an original paper by Marilyn Schlitz, Ph.D. and William Braud, Ph.D. entitled Distant Intentionality and Healing: Assessing the Evidence concludes with the following:
A new epistemology would implicitly question the assumption that a nomothetic science—one characterized by inviolable “scientific laws”—can in the end adequately deal with causality. In our search for a better understanding of the mechanisms underlying distant healing, the most fundamental issue is whether consciousness is real in some nontrivial sense. Can it be “causal”? Results reported here and elsewhere 63,64 suggest that consciousness may be causal, or that, in some ultimate sense, there may be no causality—only a whole system evolving. 65 In the latter case, distant intentionality might not be an anomaly … but part of another order of reality.if you are interested in the article, let me know
for me, there are a number of movies that i never tire of.
here's a partial list:.
elfthe holidaytommy boyplanes trains and automobilesdumb and dumber28 dayswhat are yours?.
the top of my list for all time is "the lion in winter" .... it is THE film for wickedly brilliant and pithy repartee, masterfully delivered by katharine hepburn and peter o'toole..... who were joined onscreen in the first feature film appearances for BOTH timothy dalton and sir anthony hopkins..... pardoning the occasional straying moments from historical accuracy..... it is a stunning period piece..... with a grandiose and gothically classic john barry soundtrack( composer for several "james bond" films, out of africa, enigma ) .......that yep, my all time fave!!!
with a massive swing of the pendulum.... elf...... what is not to love about that unapologetic, unspoilable innocence?
just about every church i know of does something for the poor and needy around this time of year, who are not necessarily christians or members of their church.
from helping prisoners to delivering food hampers to visiting the lonely and elderly to helping poor people and children overseas, most churches i'm aware of do at least something to materially help the suffering in the community, home and abroad, regardless of their religious orientation.
many of these churches have programmes providing such assistance all year around, even many catholic churches.. but what do the jw's do to actually practically help the suffering and poor at this time of year, or ever?
dubs will keep their giving "in-house" (personally observed a "garage sale" for a sister with an ill child..... enough was raised to buy a washer and dryer).... but nothing i have seen was as far reaching or generous as the fund-raiser mentioned
that is one thing i relish now that the scales have fallen!! being able to support, with my time and money, the people and causes that actually captivate me, be it the local animal shelter, grass roots legislative movements, suffering humanity..... my 5 year plan includes a stint with an overseas volunteer program ( learning french is part of the deal!) as soon as the youngest is out of high school..... a worldly twist on "serving where the need is greater!"
this topic is not about men living sinfully at the time of their appointment as elders.
it is not about pedophile elders, although i've personally known three, two who were pedophiles at the time of their appointment by the governing body of jehovah's witnesses.. first of all a quick summary of what jehovah's witnesses are taught about the appointment of elders and ministerial servants:.
before the visit of the circuit overseer, the local elders meet to consider who, if any, among the local congregation they will recommend as elders or .
it is not all that dry
but it is a classic illustration of the reality that there is no "spiritual direction" as is claimed..... and i too enjoy reading the personal accounts members bring to the board.... it is appreciated
in this thread i mentioned having a long chat with an elder last summer.
i didn't realize i had never posted the story, so here it is.. last summer (when i went to buy my new camera lens) i ran into one of my favorite jws at the photography shop.
he was buying a camera bag for his new dslr, and i saw him, went up and greeted him, hugged him.
excellent narrative of an artfully executed discussion.....
it surely will be reread by me as i prepare my thinking to make a defence of my "non-faith" with the illogically presented arguments of the "brethern"
sterling, mate.... absolutely sterling
