It's always someone else's fault. Never did they mention issues with WT history, doctrines, policies. This article is there to brainwash people that the ONLY reason you leave is because it's YOUR fault.

Thanks Blondie for regularly posting your comments. I rarely comment, but I read almost every week out of curiousity of what is up in the cult. Very much appreciated.

WT SHUNNING POLICY: What has it done, or could it do to you?
by flipper inhi y'all, this is mrs. flipper.
please share your experiences with this, or possible consequences of being outed.. this recent controversy and resulting arguments all stem from people being outed - possibly losing friends and family because most jw's will blindly follow the watchtower's rules to shun them.. among people i know and experiences read here, the grief and loss caused by this is terrible, and maybe now is a good time to put up some experiences here, and put the focus on the worst villians of all - wt policymakers..

Shunning was a huge part of what killed Oompa! His parents shunning him really hurt him - A LOT. He wanted SO hard to get them to accept him and talk to him. So sad. I still believe that if there was no shunning, he would still be alive today.
My mom shuns me - even though I'm inactive, I'm not even DF'd!
Shunning is the most unloving, hateful, evil thing any organization can do, especially one that calls itself 'the truth'.

Hello. Is there a way to view the full (non-iPhone optimized) site on an iPhone? I have tried both Safari and Chrome and both use the iPhone optimized site, with no obvious way to fall back to the full site.
Ok, here's part 2 of the question, and one reason I would like to view the full site. When I view the optimized site, every time I select a thread and then go 'back' to the thread list, it always goes to the top, first thread in the list. Meaning every time I open a thread I have to scroll down, down, every time, which gets old. Has anyone else found a way around this?
Thanks!

Celebrating Christmas?????
by DATA-DOG ini am just curious, and not judging.
if you are a christian and you know that december 25th is not jesus' birthday, and may have pagan roots, then why celebrate it?
i was raised a dub as most of you know, and have learned the ttatt so i know how wrong they are about a lot.

Here, Here trujw!
And spoken so eloquently. In the truth we would say, "but celebrating christmas??? Why would you ever do that once you know its origins and see all the commercialism??"
Because, and now I'm out 5 years and I do believe everything just NOW is finally in a completely better space and I can see what trujw said and life is completely about family, friends and the happiness you can share together. Xmas, Easter... it could be National Pencil Lead Day but if I can spend it with my family who so lovingly took me back without question I would be happy to celebrate it because its not about the origin it is what you make it, and it can be beautiful.
I also firmly believe that it is a great 'time marker'. Oh! Another year! Another spring! Lets GET TOGETHER! Years would go by as a witness and without milemarkers its hard to remember and time seemed hard to keep track. These holidays are to force you to step back from your everyday life, because usually that is things that dont matter in the long run, and look at the things that matter. Being out and aware of life, how it got here, I have a greater apreciation of it now than in. It is a miracle and we are so fortunate, I am happy to take the time.

Robert7, please do NOT allow SPARKY to be "PUT DOWN"!!!!!!
by ziddina inrobert, i've given you my contact information and i'm going to pm it again - please please please pass it along to whomever has the cat right now.. i have pets, and it would kill me to think that, if i were dreadfully sick or lay dying, that my beloved pets were going to be dumped into an animal pound or put down, just because no one would take them..... to you, perhaps, it's just a cat, but the cat was oompa's 'friend', and i'd like to try to save him.. as to 'biting' - heck, i've two cats right now who are - actually, were - 'biters'.
they both stopped biting after they'd been here in a loving, stable environment for a while - well, that, and when they bit me, i grabbed 'em by the scruff and told them in no uncertain terms that that sort of behavior would not be tolerated.... both have stopped biting - well, chomper [guess how he got his name?
] still gives me little 'love nips', but nothing like he used to.... so please, let's not write off oompa's cat yet!!!.
-
Robert7
OH my. I did respond on the thread they made before in response. Obviously we didn't write off the cat or I wouldn't have reached out to take him in the first place. Thank you for your concern but Oompas son has requested him back. I'm sorry to have started all of this and thank you for your time I wish I got back to you in a timely-er mannar.

Seems that they see the increase barely keeping up with the birth rate to be good? I don't get it.
It's like getting excited for getting a 3% savings rate when inflation is 3%. Net real increase is 0, and that's assuming the numbers are real.

Never, never was 100% in
by pontoon inover 40 yrs baptized, service, builds, talks and talks and talks that i put countless hours of prep into, elder, meetings, assemblies,----you all know.
but through it all i never bought the whole truth idea 100%.
no matter what it was, meeting, service, assemblies, i just couldn't wait for it to end.

I was the same way! I always saw myself as a 'liberal JW'. I accepted the good (new system, worldwide brotherhood, etc) and figured I can work around the bad, like my kids WERE going to college, I held a good job, I ignored the cult-like behavior.
Key thing is, by not being 100% in, the part that's not in keeps gnawing at you... and at least for me, kept gnawing and gnawing until I finally broke mentally free! I hope this happens to all!

Stop fighting about Oompa.
by Robert7 ini am writing this because i am so upset about the bickering and fighting that is going on about oompa.
this was an amazing wonderful, peaceful, giving man who never met a strager who is now deceased and you are taking his name and running all over the place with it using it for your own agendas.
he is not a statistic.

Thank you "Aguest". we're good.
Just so everyone knows, Oompa was his name in our circle. Since meeting him its been the way he was introduced, therefore its what most everyone called him in our close circle. We always had to think twice about "Eric". I told him very early on that Oompa fit him so much better. Eric was common but Oompa was fun, playful, unique and special. When you say "Oompa" everyone knows who you mean! It was great for the kids, it took on its own meaning like "uncle". He was my Oomp. We called him "Oompalicious" which I coined for him to use on a dating site and he LOVED it. He was Oompalicious!! He also would 'sign' things "Oomp" "Oompa" or "Oomps".
