I have to agree with Seeker, that you have to MAKE good things happen out of the circumstances that present themselves in life. Maybe that's what you meant in the first place.
But if we don't take advantage of any circumstances, if we don't take the risk to make changes (even when the outcome is unknown), we are doomed to a shallow, narrow life.
It's always encouraging (almost inspiring) to see examples of people like you who take necessary steps to break from the past and take control of their lives!!

THis stuff WORKS! In a few minutes, the pain from arthritis goes away, at least temporarily. The stuff is worth its price.
It works its way through your layers of skin, giving you a warm or hot sensation at the point of application. And its effect seems to last at least a couple of hours.
At first I got the 4 ounce jar for $39.95 (USA), but when I reordered, I got the 12 ounce pump bottle for $69.95, a much better value.
Yes, the pain does come back, but then I can apply more "blue stuff" and it helps again.

yesterday i got my letter from the ins that informed me that my appointment to answer citizenship questions will be on may 21 and that i should bring my resident card and selective service card.
hopefully, i'll become a us citizen soon.. yay!.

i've finally made my decision to go cold turkey and quit the vile weed habit!

if they weren't such hate-filled idiots, the watchtower society could learn a lot from it.. the message ends with:.
"open hearts, open minds, open door".
I honestly don't know: do the Methodists practice what they advertise? The word "method" in their name implies a certain expected "way" of worship. But maybe I'm assuming too much.
If they live up to their advertisements, then that would be great. If they tolerate a diversity of viewpoint, and put the needs of the members ahead of "loyalty to an organization", then they indeed are fulfilling the requirements of a loving people.
We know that the JW's practice double-speak to make themselves "appear" more open minded and open-hearted than they are. (Just one example, their web site that says, "those who choose to leave JW's are not shunned". Yeah right!!)

Yes, MavMan, to be honest there were a few. One district overseer and one circuit overseer came to mind, because of their use of illustrations and eye contact.
That having been said, most of the materials the speakers have to deal with are very trite and repetitive. The ONLY way to keep the audience from snoozing off is by injecting great illustrations or by personalizing it (almost to the point of independent thinking).
Similarly, I've been moved by non-JW speakers at self-help or personal improvment seminars, the kind you might attend at a hotel's large conference room. Only in these cases, because the agenda isn't necessarily about pushing a publishing Society's views and literature, but instead on how you can become better and contribute more to the actual happiness of your co-workers and/or family, the speaker had a chance to deliver something enjoyable to his/her audience.
