"We don't accept blood transfusions."
But break it up into its separate parts and we'll have it.

),as jehovah`s witness`s.....in wbt$ world,not much makes sense,if you think about it......i`ll give some examples...........#1:windowless kingdom hall`s..filled with window washers!..lol!
!........#2:100`s of kingdom halls with security systems..with the security numbers set at 1-9-1-4..(no one will ever think of that..this place is safe!..lol!!
"We don't accept blood transfusions."
But break it up into its separate parts and we'll have it.
why is it that jws refer to people from the org as "the friends"?.
sometimes its even used to refer to people in their jw social group.. since "friends" is a quaker term used likewise, how did the jws come to start using that phrase to denote jw members?.
Like "bluesbrother" I found it strange when American JWs refer to other JWs as "the friends" .
In the 30 years I was a JW 1971-2001 I never came across that usage at all. I can't even recall any WT publication using it.
It was always "brothers and/or "sisters"
For some reason I find "the Friends" rather creepy. In fact I find it very cultish.
i recently received the following email.
i don't know whether to laugh or feel sorry for the sender.
it looks like i'm not the first person on this board to receive this email (see http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/12/166981/1.ashx).
That story was going the rounds for the 30 years I was a JW.
what did our dear friend dansk say to you, or do for you that you cherish?
once, i had to leave jwd for a little while.
this is what he said to me and it meant so much to me, coming from such a wonderful, spiritual, big hearted man.
When I first appeared on here Ian was one of the first to welcome me. In those early days he sent many an e-mail to encourage me.
I was privileged to have met him.
i wonder how long into the new year it will be when the witnesses start to hammer each other in relation to the new 'family study night' arrangement.
can you imagine it?
"oooh, i hear that bro & sis slack-the-hand are regularly out & about on a tuesday night.
Even when there was the "book group" meeting. You were still supposed to have a "family study". So if those who are having a "family study" already, it will still mean one less meeting for them.
Though I notice most of the comments by the WT were to replace the "book group" with "personal study". So sit and read a WT or AW article for 5 minutes and I've done my "personal study". Or even do my Bible reading for the week for the TMS.
Done finished...lets go out.
word has got our that mr. and mrs. truthseeker no longer attend meetings.. we still live in the territory of our old congregation.
instead of taking the time to call us and see how we're doing, the "friends" prefer to talk about us behind our backs, one of whom passed information to my wife's mother (who is a loyal witness) that we do not attend meetings.. just waiting for the ball to drop.. .
.
When I stopped attending meetings it was two years before any visit. Then it was just to get me back to make up the numbers. So it looks like they are planning to do the same thing, numbers falling, get back those who they can.
"Perhaps they can encourage a person to return to the congregation by kindly showing him that Jehovah loves His sheep and requires only things that we can do. These include studying the Scriptures, attending Christian meetings, and preaching the good news of the Kingdom."
Is this the same "love" in which they made my wife make me leave the family because I was a "spiritual danger" to them. Then after two "shepherding" visits never did anything else to help. Meeting and Ministry their magical answer to all problems.
"Financial problems or increased family responsibilities may have caused them to slip into spiritual inactivity. They may feel a need for relief, but you might point out that isolation is not the answer. (Read Proverbs 18:1.) You might tactfully ask them: "Are you happier since you stopped attending meetings? Is your family life better? Is the joy of Jehovah still your stronghold?" -Neh. 8:10."
"Isolation not the answer" but they are they ones who isolate people. Stop talking to them, don't acknowledge them, don't visit.
" Reflecting on such questions may help the inactive ones to see that because of their lack of association with the congregation, their spirituality and happiness have diminished. (Matt. 5:3; Heb. 10:24, 25) It may be possible to help them realize that failure to preach the good news has resulted in the loss of joy."
Lack of associataion, spirituality and happiness diminished!! No way! I have become a "real" Christian . Met people who would fall over themselves to help others, whether or not they were Christian. The church I attend has programs, that helps others more in one year than all the years in the JW congregation I was in did. If this church is not "preaching the good news" then why have we just moved into a bigger church because of the growth.
As Mary says why do they automatically assume anyone who leaves is unhappy and miserable. The only thing that makes me unhappy is that I still have family who are still JWs.
this email is circulating among the witnesses....... book study change
this was forward by friends at the guam branch -- ---------------------- from a sister in colombia : i want to share with you important points from our co's visit about the changes that will take effect next year about our book study.
there are four main points about the book study change, i thought were very interesting:
Did you notice the reason to condense the meetings was NOT for more time in the field service, but more time for personal study?
This is what I find strange why end a "study" where you HAD to meet and study and "build up your faith" because you were met with other brothers etc. Changed to a "personal study" where there is greater chance of JWs NOT studying?
The "group" when I was a JW was always emphasised as the centre were you would meet when the Great Trib started.
The UN turning on religion always struck me as odd, they can't even enforced resolutions they pass now. Who will they get to enforce a ban on religion? They have no army per se , they rely on their member nations to supply troops for any UN force. I can just see Muslim nations agreeing that.
have posted this on the other thread but just making this one as well:
i need to let you know that dad passed away this morning at 8am.
he fought so hard but in the end they could not get his blood pressure to rise and he died of heart failure.
So sorry,
My love to all his family.
A guy who did his most to help others like me, who came out of the WT.
just to let everyone on here who knows my dad, that he is seriously ill, and unfortunately on life support.
he has renal and respiratory failure as a result of the quickest onset of pneumonia i have ever seen... it came on in the early hours of this morning.
he is waiting for an intensive care bed but the nearest one is 200 miles away.
Like others on here for some strange reason Dansk (Ian) suddenly came to mind this week.
I realised not seen he had posted for a long time.
So sorry to hear about how ill he is.
My thoughts and prayers for him.
someone just sent me a link to the 2008 annual report.. haven't read it yet.
randy .
http://www.4shared.com/file/75568905/6c852737/2008_annual_report.html.
I always look at the report for Britain of course.
I see that the Peak pub was 132,751 and the Av pub 126,580
This is roughly what it was just before I left ten years ago. 132,000 / 126.000 plus or minus a few.
Also that the report shows 2,918 baptised .
Adding this to the 2007 average they should have had 128,726 pubs.
But they only have 126,580 a discrepancy of 2,146 less.
But the increase in Memorial partakers worldwide to 9,986. I thought there would be an increase, but not that big!
