Hi,
"I think it's interesting that founding forefathers of both the Jehovah's Witness and the Mormon movement seem to have had ties to the secret societies. (Freemasonry)"
Freemasonry seems just an "old school tie" members club at the bottom of the pyramid but is overtly Satanic worship at the top level. Don't believe me then open Google.
Even the blood oath that they swear on becoming memebers should give some clue.
No surprise that Masonic symbols are found in both cults either.
1 Timothy 4 (New International Version)
Instructions to Timothy
1The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. 2Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron. 3They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth.
So that was 2000 years ago, Nothing has changed expect there are different cult with different do's and don'ts of their own.
Regards,
Stephen

Hi,
No there are humans that have them implanted already.
Do a search on RFID or Verichip.
The technology is now advanced enough for this to be fulfilled. After all, cash is becoming obsolete and we are almost doing this already with the chip on our credit/debit cards.
Revelation 13 (New International Version)
17 so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name.

Hi,
Thanks for the posts.
Forgive me for posting these verses again but I am really digging them!
2 Timothy 3 (The Message)
Difficult Times Ahead
1-5 Don't be naive. There are difficult times ahead. As the end approaches, people are going to be self-absorbed, money-hungry, self-promoting, stuck-up, profane, contemptuous of parents, crude, coarse, dog-eat-dog, unbending, slanderers, impulsively wild, savage, cynical, treacherous, ruthless, bloated windbags, addicted to lust, and allergic to God. They'll make a show of religion, but behind the scenes they're animals. Stay clear of these people.
6-9 These are the kind of people who smooth-talk themselves into the homes of unstable and needy women and take advantage of them; women who, depressed by their sinfulness, take up with every new religious fad that calls itself "truth." They get exploited every time and never really learn. These men are like those old Egyptian frauds Jannes and Jambres, who challenged Moses. They were rejects from the faith, twisted in their thinking, defying truth itself.

JW's not the only one preaching the end is near. Born agains are doing it.
by jaguarbass ini get this news letter daily from a biker friend who used to sing with my band.
he is a born again type and has a ministry to outlaw bikers called the prodigal sons.the wactower is not the only group that preaches the end is near.
i think its a biblical message that people that read the bible tune in too.i think the problem with the wactower and the end of the world is they or i took it seriously, and they tell you not to get an education and make provisions for living in this system, which is also somewhat biblical.

Hi,
I agree-things are getting worse.
Biggest prophecy to be fulfilled must have been Israel becoming a nation and taking control of Jerusalem.
Jeremiah 29:14
I will be found by you," declares the LORD, "and will bring you back from captivity. I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have banished you," declares the LORD, "and will bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile."
Ezekiel 11:17
"Therefore say: 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: I will gather you from the nations and bring you back from the countries where you have been scattered, and I will give you back the land of Israel again.'
Ezekiel 20:41
I will accept you as fragrant incense when I bring you out from the nations and gather you from the countries where you have been scattered, and I will show myself holy among you in the sight of the nations.
Ezekiel 22:19
Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: 'Because you have all become dross, I will gather you into Jerusalem.
Ezekiel 36:24
" 'For I will take you out of the nations; I will gather you from all the countries and bring you back into your own land.
Zephaniah 3:20
At that time I will gather you; at that time I will bring you home.
Funny how the WTO only talks about Armageddon all day long but it is only mentioned once in the whole Bible! Quite obvious they don't know what is important :(
Well see these verses and it they ring true for the JWs, Mormons and such?

Another method of witness time-wasting
by ldrnomo inyesterday as i was getting ready to go out i noticed from my bedroom window two women dressed in witness garb heading toward my house i didn't recognize them so when i answered the door they asked me if i was spanish speaking i said no and they then asked me if i knew of anyone the the neighborhood that was and i said no they thanked me and went off to the next door (doing the pioneer shuffle) to ask the same question.
so this must have taken up a whole morning.
my wife and i thought they could have spent their time so much more affectivly sitting in a coffee shop and saying olaaaa to each customer that came in and when one answered back they could have spewed their bs on them in spanish..

Hi,
A good ploy. Maybe my wife could open the door speaking in tongues?!
Here's some good advise from the Bible. Fits the mould perfectly for JWs and Mormons.
2 Timothy 3 (New International Version)
Godlessness in the Last Days
5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them.
6 They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over weak-willed women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, 7 always learning but never able to acknowledge the truth. 8 Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these men oppose the truth—men of depraved minds, who, as far as the faith is concerned, are rejected.

Does Debating Have to Be Abusive - To Be Effective ?
by flipper inmy wife and i were having an interesting discussion about some of the debates that take place on the board here .
now, granted most people , i feel upwards of 90 % on the board maybe higher try to be respectful in their debates or discussions on topics.
i think we all had enough bashing in the witness organization.

Hi,
Here's some advise from The Message
Colossians 2 (The Message)
8-10 Watch out for people who try to dazzle you with big words and intellectual double-talk. They want to drag you off into endless arguments that never amount to anything. They spread their ideas through the empty traditions of human beings and the empty superstitions of spirit beings. But that's not the way of Christ. Everything of God gets expressed in him, so you can see and hear him clearly. You don't need a telescope, a microscope, or a horoscope to realize the fullness of Christ, and the emptiness of the universe without him. When you come to him, that fullness comes together for you, too. His power extends over everything.

Hi,
"dressed in witness garb"
Yes I noticed a certain look when they come to my door ;)
On one hand they look smart in shirts, ties, suits, long overcoats but they always walk slowly in fairly sombre fashion and it reminds me of people at a funeral!
Luke 9:60 (New International Version)
Jesus said to him, "Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and proclaim the kingdom of God."
John 10:10 (New International Version)
10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
Nehemiah 8:10 (New International Version)
"Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength."

Hi,
Just found this on Wikipedia-excellent!
Calling God "Jehovah"
Not to start another debate, because I know this is a really old topic, but I was reading my Bible this morning and it suddenly occurred to me... why would I want to call God Jehovah? That would be like calling my Dad by his first name, only worse. I'd feel hurt and disrespected by my children if they called me by my first name. I have a special relationship with them, different than my relationship with people who are not my children. Anybody can call me Eric, but only my children can call me Father, and I prefer it that way. Others may feel differently, of course. --Factcheck1776 (talk) 23:08, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
Keil & Delitzsch Commentary on the Old Testament (Joel 2:32 commentary): "Whoever calls upon the name of Jehovah, i.e., the believing worshippers of the Lord, will be exempted from the judgment. “Calling upon the name of Jehovah” signifies not only the public worship of God, but inward worship also, in which the confession of the mouth is also an expression of the heart." Duffer (talk) 16:14, 23 December 2007 (UTC)
Amen, brother, Jehovah is the only true God. Calling on some other god's name is useless. Still, I'm glad that Jesus came to reveal an even deeper and more worshipful relationship to God, where we get to call him Father. It's like this: Once I was an orphan. I knew there was a God, but I didn't know who he was. Then I found out his name was Jehovah, so I started loving and worshipping him by his true name. But then--miracle of miracles--he adopted me! Now I get to call him Father. People who aren't adopted into his family should keep calling him by his proper name, Jehovah, and it is proper and right for them to so. But his children get to call him something even better, and nobody can take that away from them. --Factcheck1776 (talk) 18:56, 24 December 2007 (UTC)
More good stuff on the same page no doubt :)

Hi all,
I just found another verse on this-the title of the section is perfect!
Colossians 2 (New International Version)
Freedom From Human Regulations Through Life With Christ
16 Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day.
Also there is this one.
Romans 14 (New International Version)
5 One man considers one day more sacred than another; another man considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. 6 He who regards one day as special, does so to the Lord. He who eats meat, eats to the Lord, for he gives thanks to God; and he who abstains, does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God.
So what does a JW think when they read verses like these?

Something That Used To Puzzle Me
by snowbird inwhen reading the apostle paul's chastisement of the corinthians about their drunken, gluttonous demeanor during the memorial, i used to wonder how in the world could anyone possibly overeat on just the unleavened bread?
and, i used to think that if anyone got drunk, it was because they drank too much wine on an empty stomach.
after a careful reading, i came to the conclusion that this was an actual meal served in someone's home!

Hi,
"If you're so hungry that you can't wait to be served, go home and get a sandwich. "
LOL! :)
I have done this many times when reading The Message. Eugene never fails to bring out the lighter side of the Bible as well as the serious stuff.
I recommend The Message who heartedly to all ex NWT readers who want something with a little life.
