AGuest And I have received such gift... by means of which the "new creation" that I now am... has been CONCEIVED. When I was previously conceived in SIN AND ERROR... I have NOW been conceived... in RIGHTEOUSNESS. But... I have not yet been BORN.
And, again, I have received a TOKEN of that salvation - an anointing with holy spirit. That does not, however, conclude my birth. It simply creates the "child"... who is yet in the womb.
Yes! A new child/creation has come into EXISTENCE... simply because he/she has been CONCEIVED. The new has come... but has not come FORTH.
A fetus is alive, dear one... in the eyes of God. An embryo is alive... in the eyes of God. A zygote is alive... in the eyes of God. Life does not start with birth, dear one. It starts with conception. This is an interesting idea. You could start a group of "not born again Christians" with that teaching.
Maybe not, the WT have patented that idea already :( Seriously, consider these verses
1 Peter 1:3 (English Standard Version)
Born Again to a Living Hope
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead
1 Peter 1:23 (English Standard Version)
23 since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God
Note the tense in both verses, passed tense, not future.
Either you HAVE been born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus or you are dead in your sins.
The "imperishable seed" is the spirits of us who HAVE been born again.
Lastly, back to this verse.
John 3:3 (New International Version)
3 In reply Jesus declared, "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again. [ a ] "
Footnotes:
- John 3:3 Or born from above; also in verse 7
No one can see the kingdom of God unless they ARE born again.
The kingdom is within us (in our midst) who HAVE been born again Luke 17:21
It is "at hand" (present tense) it has COME (passed tense) to us who are born again Matthew 3:2; 4:17; Luke 10:9
Blessings in Christ,
Stephen
