So they don't live for tomorrow, but yet live for today? Right. I believe that, just look at the Bethelites who put in 20-30 plus years, told not to have children and not much or if anything in retirement, then kicked out. They sure lived in the moment. How about the tens of thousands who gave up everything during the late 60's awaiting for 1975, for what?

one of my friends on the board said that she downloaded the 1947 awake pdf that "bereanbiblestudent and invetigator 74" posted, and in the first issue on page 26, it said that excommunication or disfellowshipping was a pagan practice.

my husband and i left the org about 6 months ago and in voicing our views we were shunned.
the elders who were 'friends' treated us with cold efficiency to the letter of their law.
one older elder played 'good cop' and invited us over for a heart-to-heart.

i have been fading for years now and attend meetings very rarely these days.
but something happened recently to make me think about going regularly again.
a couple have returned to my congregation who used to be special pioneers here twenty years ago.
I have to say that Vinny's post was really something to reflect on SLIM. The very same people that you hold in high regard will be knocked out from their high and mighty horse riding ass when confronted about everything that you know as WTBS.
The question is how are you going to handle the responses regarding the wtbs, faulty logic, ect. from the very ones that "inspired" you? It's something I want to do, but for the sake of wife who some what attends, perfers the fade over submitting a DA letter.
I guess it's the last hurdle in confronting the facts. It's hard for me not to address these issue I have about WTBS with elders due to the wife's slow fade. I'm not expecting any inspiring answers or being swayed by the WISE elders if I did have the chance, bringing closure. Seeing it first hand how the very ones you respected, fumble their words or dance around the issues is something I need to witness first hand.

the question box at the end of the article contains the question "what is an evidence of independent thinking, and what can help us to avoid it?
the clear answers from the paragraphs are that noting that "gods organization has made adjustments in the past, to point out their fallability is the result of "pride" and independent thinking can be avoided by remembering where you learned bible truths in the first place.
Yeah, simple amazing. Whats evening more incredible is the fact that WTBS criticized The catholic religion for SUPPRESSING free and independent thinking. In one of V's videos @ watchtower comments on youtube, he pointed out the exact articles and compared the 2. Night and day difference, and for some odd reason it gave me goose bumps when I looked it up on the WTBS CD and verified the exact quote from the Watchtower article. It's god given freedom in one article and then a hinderance in the next.
i suspect that you have entrusted a few "spiritually minded," "faithful" brothers to quietly monitor the so-called "apostate" websites in order to do damage control later on via the form of "new light.".

Big hand clap! The same logic was applied to my jw family and friends. If it's the truth, whats the big deal seeing the other point of view and should without question, stand up to any falsehoods... An Elder's answer to the very same question during a watchtower study last year: "Because Satan's tongue possess millennia worth of years to hone his craft of tricky to con those followers of Jehovah into apostasy" EHH, it's not as complicated as you think, WTBS. Still, when a conman is found out, it's impossible for him to have any creditability when the evidence it stacked against him. It has nothing to do with "trickery" or a "sly tongue". the truth is the truth...
my son has come to stay with me for the summer, and this morning i got a phone call which showed on the caller id as my son's grandparents (my jw ex's parents who are also jw).
i assumed it was my ex calling from their house and answered handing the phone to my son.
that's when i heard his grandma's voice on the phone.
^OMG... Can't imagine going through such bullshit and finding it easier to simply let go claim you're an orphan. How many more families shall be torn apart by these ridiculous rules????

Unfortunately, nothing in writing yet, but I can confirm (not that I carry any kind of creditbility, but still feel the need to post up) of an elder in my area that had to step down because of his daughter attending college. My wife who rarely attends, pretty much the mood is anti college at the KH. In her congregation, there was a example mentioned during a watchtower meeting about young brother who forgo a full ride, 4 years to FSU for a chance to go to bethel. Sad really, must've been a talented individual to receive such gift.Sigh, anoter one bites the dust....
hi everyone,been looking for some time,decided to register and give a little contribution.everything helps.in the wbts for 15 years,never bought everything ,some things just never clicked,i was "waiting on jehovah"but eventually things just went worst(or better)and stop attending meetings a year ago.my 3 kids (never baptised)could no be happier,wife still going once a week average,but things changed for her too.we're still in good standing,but i'm thinking of da myself,our familyes are all catholic,so no problem with the shunning thing for us.and for the friends in the truth(friends,yeah right)whatever........
That right there is the biggest hurdle to overcome, SHUNNING. But who cares if your family is not in the WTBS, the so called friends show their true side. Welcome to the JWD...
