  Did You Experience Shunning By " Cliques" in Witness Congregations ?

  the american heritage dictionary defines the word clique as , " a small , exclusive group of friends or associates .

  " further in the synonym section under the word " circle ", it says about the word , " clique " a clique is an exclusive group, usually social and often participating in activities from which outsiders are barred .

  " it quotes john lloyd , a writer - " the narrow, often self- perpetuating cliques which control our lives, living standards and leisures.

  We were never "spiritual enough" to have friends within the congregation as a couple. As singles we both had a couple fringe friends though. The elders were nice enough at meetings and on shepherding calls, but we never got invited to peoples houses and so forth. Especially the years DH was in college. There was one couple we were friends with awhile, but in less than a year that fell apart.

  My parents were also fringe JW's so I wasn't usually allowed to play with the other JW kids to often. I spent most of my childhood somewhat socially isolated. Once I was an adult I really only hung out with a few other fringe JW's and a few worldly friends.

  has anybody got a copy of this very witty article by judy brady?.

  i read it years ago as a student.

  along with "a room of one's own" by virginia woolf, it should be requiired reading for all the ignorant witlesses with penises.. hopefully they will then start to see women as people instead of challenges, servants and whores.. don't bother getting up your hopes.... hb.

  I take offense at the "idiot women" comment.

  I don't know, I'm a complete feminist now and believe in a different way... but I have a ton of empathy for the women who haven't found their way out of those confines.

  The reason they are there is because they've been told for years that they are dumb, helpless, worthless beings who can only hope and pray for the acceptance of a man. As women, shouldn't we speak them up instead of further break them down?

  unicorns really existed!!

  i never noticed those scriptures before but seems that what some translations of bible call bull is actually a unicorn.

  i checked several translations, even found this video which made me think.

  Cannabis Free~

  yesterday i bought a pack of smokes called cannabis free.

  i thought that maybe if it was good, as in something unique i could save a pack for crumples when she gets here.

  so i lit one up in the car and proceeded to smoke it.

  OMG, I about spit out my tea. My favorite incense is dragons blood. I've never met anyone else who has even heard of it. I bought a ton right before moving here (I moved here from Dallas area a few months back) and I'm already running out and haven't found a local source.

  I will pass on the lettuce smokes though... lol

  Would You Trust A JW To Be Honest More Than The Average Person?

  i know many very honest jws.

  if i had someone do work for me, clean my home, etc.----i'd generally be more at ease with a faithful jw over most others.

  in the matter of housekeeping, i'd think that they might be nosier but i doubt they'd outrightly steal from me.. what's your thought on this subject?.

  Funny, I don't remember being anything like that when I was a JW. I understand you are angry, but painting them all with one brush is no better than what they do to us as outcasts.

  There are honest and dishonest people in the world- in the organization and out. To me it depends fully on the person. I don't have more or less faith in the honesty of JW's vs others.

  I don't know, JW's do have conservative views on many social issues, but they care MOST about their freedom to go door to door (Jehovah will handle the rest of course) and to avoid a mandatory draft. So I think in any election they would vote for the candidate who most supported those two topics.
