Could anything be more sad or sick? This never ending war has divided our nation, sent us into ever growing debt and taken thousands of precious lives. The current war has produced more amputees than any other, possibly more than all previous combined. The fact that these folks who have sacrificed everything by putting their lives on the line don't get the benefits they were promised and have rightfully earned is indescribably disgusting. I pray for our military and civilians in the war zones every day: that God will keep them mentally and physically strong and healthy, faithful, moral and accountable, and that He brings them home as quickly as possible and with as little loss of life and limb as possible. -Potential.

Post-War Suicides May Exceed Combat Deaths, U.S. Says
by nvrgnbk inby avram goldstein.
may 5 (bloomberg) -- the number of suicides among veterans of wars in iraq and afghanistan may exceed the combat death toll because of inadequate mental health care, the u.s. government's top psychiatric researcher said.
community mental health centers, hobbled by financial limits, haven't provided enough scientifically sound care, especially in rural areas, said thomas insel, director of the national institute of mental health in bethesda, maryland.

Diabetics and insulin
by novi kralj inwe can't have blood transfusions, but a witness friend of mine is a diabetic and injects himself four times a day with insulin.
what's the difference?
-

Injectable insulin is not a human by-product. Some is made from pork (that's old school) and I believe most is actually chemical concoctions. -Potential

Young girls DF or DA for sex w/ older dubs.
by avishai inhow many instances have you seen where a younger girl, say 13-16 is df'd or da'd for "fornication w/ much older "brother" in the hall?
especially when the bro.
only gets reproof?

Thing about the topic of this thread is that the sex is pretty much consensual in most of these cases it seems. The poor girls in FLDS don't have a choice. They are forced into marrying and then having sex with men who are decades older than themselves, not just a few years. If they are born into the sect they don't know anything different, which is very sad. Can you imagine your mom: "Just go with the nice man, Honey. It might be a little painful the first time, but it's God's will." YECH!!! -Potential

Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints
by Aleman ini'm sure you all heard what happened in texas, i believe these are signs of the coming of the kingdom of god.
state investigators say they have discovered a bedinside thelygamist compound temple that was reserved for husbands -- often middle-aged men -- to have sex for the first time with their underage 'wives.
this is supposed to be a place for worship not sexual acts.

I've been following this story, actually since it became a story. It was all over the news when the sect bought the land out West and started building. I knew it would only be a matter of time before some kind of ordeal happened out there. And I was wondering why the sect was trying so hard to keep investigators out of their "temple". That is so disgusting (a bed in a place of worship for the rape of young virgins!) I can't even begin to explain how grossed out I am right now. Yeah, when you see "big love" (I've only seen like an episode) the whole polygamy thing is still weird, but it doesn't seem so bad. This sect has been known for it's pairing of under aged girls with nasty old men for some time now. The latest is that they have now separated the mothers from their kids. The moms were giving false names and passing the kids around between the lot of them so that CPS could never figure out whose kids were whose. They separated 'em because the mothers were coaching the kids on what to say and what not to. They are trying to get straight answers out of the kids on the abuse questions. The state of Texas may end up adopting out all 416 kids to foster homes. -Potential

Any fans of Buck Owens and the Buckaroos? Traditional country???
by bluesbreaker59 ini've been on a country kick lately, which is driving my girlfriend batty, but you see growing up on a farm and all, and doing chores with my dad and grandpa, we listened to old time country.
there were a couple am stations that played it when i was a little boy (80's)... so we'd hear, buck, george jones, johnny cash, merle haggard, ernest tubb, don williams, paycheck, tammy wynette, loretta lynn, patsy cline, etc.
i remember when dwight yoakam came out and dad and i were both sad, because grandpa wasn't around to hear him, and his bakersfield sound.. i sometimes didn't always like it then, and there is still some that i don't care for.

Buck Owens is one of my musical heroes. I loved to see him and Roy on Hee Haw (still watch the re-runs every now and again). If you love Dwight like I do and you love Buck you must hear Dwight's latest- Dwight sings Buck. PHENOMENAL. Dwight was born to sing Buck's songs. I love the traditional classic country like Johnny Cash, Willie and Waylon, Loretta, Dolly, Charlie Pride, Statler Brothers, Marty Robbins, etc. etc. New country sucks. If you love the classics and new music that is in that vein you should check out Americana music. It's a lot of classic artists, plus some new folks that do it old school style. A cool station on the web is knbtfm.com - check 'em out, I think you'll like what you hear. -Potential

R.Crusoe- A myth busters episode recently ran a diesel car on recycled kitchen oil. Yep, went to a fast food place, strained out some of their used oil and the car ran fine. Now that's an alternative fuel the industry really doesn't want to get out! -Potential

This is the problem with food labels in the USA. They are incredibly misleading, and unless you know what to watch out for you might buy something that's much less healthy than the packing would have you believe. The other deal is that many products labeled "no trans-fats" may actually contain trans-fats, if they are 1% or less. Check the label for "partially hydrogenated" oils. If those are in your product, it most definitely does contain trans-fats. -Potential

I don't understand about Haiti- I think the Dominican Republic is still doing ok and able to grow their own food. What is the deal with Haiti, when they occupy the same island? Did they just turn it into a dust bowl or what? -Potential

Shropshire Star news editor examines issues behind death of JW Emma Gough
by AndersonsInfo inshropshire starapril 9, 2008. why would loving faith allow death?.
features news editor neil thomas examines the issues behind the tragic death of new mum emma gough.. words written by heaven knows who and attributed to moses have brought about the apparently needless death of a young shropshire mother, and blighted many other lives, more than 3,000 years later.. far-fetched, possibly.
yet, how else are we to interpret the death of emma gough?.
