teacher banned for spilling the beans on santa.
canberra (reuters) - an australian primary school banned a teacher after she told a class of six year olds that santa claus does not exist.. angry parents from the corowa public school demanded action when some children arrived home in tears after a reserve teacher, on her first day on the job, told them their parents brought their presents.. "santa claus has always visited our house at christmas," mother vanessa lohse told the daily telegraph newspaper.. "my three kids (aged five, six, and eight) don't believe santa is real now -- it's really put a damper on christmas.".

reason 1. jws use a cultic language that keeps them in a constant state of social hypnosis.
transformational grammar teaches that our language directly affects our subjective experience.
in working with some former jws i had to confiscate certain words and have them create substitutes for something that was more neutral.
NYTel: All-or-nothing fallacies won't cut it around here. Individuals remain individual, even while their invididuality and independence are subjugated via techniques of persuasion and control.

since i was a raised a jw, it was pretty much forbidden for me to research the history of jws, outside of looking up the society's publication.. however, if i had not been raised a witness and was introduced to the religion, it would have been okay for me to do some research.
there would have been no repurcusions.
what is the wicked and evil truth they were trying to hide from me?
I may have a "JW in 20th Century" ... I liked the treatment and the artistic presentation at the time, so odds are good I have one stashed away in a box somewhere.

Yeah kids tend to rebel, but early indoctrination is hard to shake.

Joelbear is right on the money.
I guess some people leave JWdom to become something just as stupid.

it's a funny ol' world.
a month ago i was mucking about with some thick fencing wire and i suddenly got the idea to bend a couple of pieces into a set of divining rods like i've seen old nutters doing on tv.
so i cut two sections of wire about 2' long and bent the ends 4" at 90 degrees to form old fashioned diving rods (twitching sticks are made of yew or hickory or something .. don't know what, if anything aboriginies used).
mox: Clever Hans is an excellent warning example. And let's not forget the "typing" that autistic kids "do".

Of course I haven't tried it; As a JW I feared demons, and now as an intelligent human being I don't feel like wasting my time on anecdotes told by the gullible. Have you tried everything you don't believe in? I dare say you haven't. Life's too short.
As for magnetic fields etc., well, if humans were that sensitive to them then you'd see people getting all disoriented when they go through MRI machines. Do you have any idea how weak Earth's magnetic field is compared to even a toy magnet at close range, let alone an MRI machine? It makes no sense whatsoever to attribute dowsing to magnetic sensitivity in humans. There's no evidence for such sensitivity in other circumstances where it should be seen.
sigh So many fallacies the human brain is vulnerable to. I wonder if the human brain isn't just an evolutionary dead end.
PS: You could say I was gullible to believe JW stories. Well, I was raised as a JW; my mother was baptized when I was two years old. And skeptical two-year-olds are rarer than liberal JWs.

i've just come back from the weekend snooze (know to others as the circuit assembly hall in bristol).. the local congregations paid a fortune for the assembly hall to be built.
it was a major build with purchase of land and construction costing a fortune - and paid for by voluntary donations.
however our po has informed me that the circuit was charged 4,300 for the weekend assembly!
waiting: I worked on the Salisbury AH. Lots and lots and lots and LOTS of steel framing to make those pretty stairstep patterns in the ceiling.
Did I mention the steel framing? And the drywall? And the FRAMING?!

how many of you still believe in god after your experience of the watchtower?
do you believe in a different god than the one of the org.
one who won't destroy somebody just because he wasn't in the good religion.
If there is a God, then he deliberately set up the universe and our senses so everything we need can be detected ... except him.
In other words, he's FUCKING WITH OUR MINDS.
So either he does't exist or he shouldn't exist. Either way I'm not interested.
