Welcome. Thanks for sharing your story. It sounds like you have a lot the deal with in your life, never mind the control and guilt the WTS tries to put on you. I'm glad you and your girlfriend have one another for support. And that you found some support here at JWD, too. It helps to know that you are not crazy or alone when it comes to combating the JW experience.

Experience from a bible study student
by Vincent ini have left the jehovah's witnesses(jw) organisation after hearing of the death of emma gough who was 22 years old and refused blood while giving birth to twins.

i studied the what the bible teaches book and got to chapter 13 until 28th oct 07 i left after hearing of the terror of that death.

I sometimes wonder what my life would have been like if that one brother and I had hooked up. My sister (who had more contact with him than I did afterI moved away) thinks I would have been unhappy in the end with him. It's hard to imagine that a life with him would have been more difficult than the one I lived! But my greatest fear is that it might have been much harder for me to become free from the JWs if I had been with him.
Nonetheless, there are still a few songs that take my mind down roads untraveled.

What's your success rate?
by Mrs Smith inhow many of you have managed to get your jw friends and family to see that it's not "the truth"?
-
MMae
My one and only relative in WTS was my sister. We pretty much discovered the TRUTH about the "truth" together, and helped one another through the trauma of exiting.
In the last couple of months an old JW friend and I have been reaquainted. I was df'd 12 years ago. He became inactive 10 years ago. He still believes, but openly (and passionately) says that some of what is taught is not right. He is visiting our home once a week for a meal and a movie. And of course, we always get to talking about spiritual matters. I see his resistance coming down slowly.
I greatly apprecicate being about to read all of your experiences as you slowly try to open the eyes of your loved ones. It is a very delicate matter.

How many of you Ex Jehovah's Witnesses married early and it was a disaster?
by isnrblog inwhat a common tale.
you marry early becasue you can't have sex.. i was married at 19 and divorced at 50. the only thing that held it together was our involvement in the jw's.
otherwise it would have been over in less than 5 years.. my kids are not witnesses and have a terrible relationship with their mother, as she is always trying to shove it down their throats.. this is still happening.

I married at 19. We spent 12 very difficult years together. I finally asked for separation while we worked out problems. He walked away. Had I known that is how it was going to go, I would have gotten the separation (and subsequent divorce) MUCH sooner.

I think I may have accidentily pitted the POs wife against her husband...
by cognac inwell, you know how the whole thing came out about only using the "society's literature" came out a few months ago?
well, a few days later i went up to the po to basically tell on myself that i used strongs concordance and exactly which website i go to for a lot of my research.
he said that was fine and that the society was just avoiding people spending hours on non wt literature just either wasting there time or trying to prove the society wrong.... ok, so fast forward to this past weekend, i was over his house with my husband for dinner.

This is probably fall out from the Sept 2007 KM, where the WTS states that is does not "endorse" ...just about anything....that is not connected to their literature. It wasn't an all out ban, but we all know that the FAITHFUL will treat is as though it is. Therefore, consulting anything outside of WTS literature is a sign of spiritual weakness, if not worse.

I can see clearly now the watchtowers gone
by jacethespace inisnt it so strange that the moment that you get away from the watchtower and live life everything soon begins to get better ?
at the moment things seem to be looking up for me now.. it seems to me now that a lot of watchtower routine week in and week out is a complete waste of time and effort that could be spent in other more healthy pursuits in life.. as a jw your time is caught up in a never ending pursuit of work, study, meetings, field circus.its no wonder all jws want to see the end come about.but could they also be longing for an end to the never ending monotony there in?
ironically enough.. plus as a jw [ personally for me ] you are constantly feeling tired and worrying about fitting time in to do everything that needs to be done in a given week.also there is very little time for family especially if your family are none witnesses.i found this intresting when i mentioned to an elder whithin the congregation that my family complained about me never having time for them.he told me his mom was often saying the same things about him.. then theres good old field circus.most time i spent in " the field" i feel was wasted as most people see this door to door work as annoying and even if they do have the magazines or even agree to a study most never ever convert to the tower.its anything but a life saving work.. its also tiring just trying to keep up the appearance that everythings fine and being a jw makes you oh so happy when thats not true.or as the elder who lives nextdoor does whenever i see him lately and say hi he walks away whistling.as if whistling shows your happy.its a front.. in contrast now out of the tower theres plenty of time to plan life and think for yourself.you have plenty of time to take an intrest in family and friends and do good things for others.. i also feel a lot healthier mentally and physically for not having to constantly be running around none stop.and the other thursday when it was time for meetings and the elder left the house next door i didnt feel like i was doing anything wrong when i to walked out the house and said hello and then carried on my own way, maybe next time i,ll whistle too.. the only thing that still bothers me is just not knowing all the answers to where the worlds heading.. but im still waiting for all those demons to pop up and plague me for leaving truth.i guess there on holiday.. .

The only thing that still bothers me is just not knowing all the answers .
Coming from a JW perspective, NOT KNOWING, is ...... Wierd!
I find that FAITH has a whole new meaning. Simple faith that God has a plan, which I have some clues about, but that I really DON'T KNOW.

So -------
St. Peter was showing the lastest arrival all around heaven. Far off in the distance, there was a village with a very high wall. Songs of praise could be heard from behind the wall, "We thank you Lord, that you have brought us into your presence!"
"So what's over there, Pete?" the man asked.
"Shhhhh! Keep your voice down. Those are the (insert JWs/ LDS/ BA.) They think they are the only ones up here."

Sexual psyche stunted by the JW legacy?
by Gregor inwhen you are in the org.
the real 'meat' (no pun intended) of the org.
is rules and regs on masturbation, premarital sex, extra marital sex, sex practices among married people, pornography, sex sex and more sex.
-
MMae
I don't remember exactly when I finally let go of all guilt re: masterbation. Maybe it was after my marriage to my non-JW husband who, oh my word, didn't feel a need to research a bound volume about exactly which sexual expressions had God's stamp of approval.
