i visited my 77 year old mother the other day and noticed she had a new jw book on her kitchen counter titled "isaiah's prophecy".
having just started visting this forum i thought i might be able to pick out some gems from these books to pass along.
well, two things have resulted from picking up this book: 1. my mother has told my sisters that i am thinking about coming back into the borg and 2. i have realized after reading a few pages that this book it is nothing more than recycled bilge from the past 50-60 years.
"How does this crap keep the masses entertained?"
It kept the masses entertained so well, in fact, that they recently resleased Isaiah part 2.
Go figure.
On the other hand, perhaps JW's aren't very hard to keep entertained...

i don't know if my karma is screwed up or what, because today just has not been my day.
first i got up this morning, logged on the board and the first post i read was that drivel from you know or who knows or whatever his/her name is.
Can't you just put a sign on your door? with some kind of scripture for them to look up, change the scripture from time to time to suit your mood.
It probably wouldn't work. "but we have to knock anyway, they might lose their lives" Although I recall Jesus telling his disciples that they should shake the dust from their feet and LEAVE.
It is NOT persecution for Jesus' name if they don't obey the letter/spirit of the bible and then get in trouble for it. DUH!!

i notice that because the jw's point out flaws with the churches doctrines and beliefs that instead of fixing or repenting or solving the issues it's easier for church people to form a backlash whether it's honest or falacious in order to displace blame and smokescreen their own inadequacies.. you can not heal yourself by pointing out anothers wounds, you also can not solve your problems by displacing them instead of admiting and addressing them.. if a jw or anyone else points out the problem of abuse in the church then by pointing out an abuse in the jw elders does not solve the issues of the church abuses neither is it repentance as repentance should be.. if you can't discuss the bible and resons why you fall short and trasngress then by bringing up personal issues or attacking each other like jackals does not change those transgressions it just adds more.. as an outsider i must say all of you are like animals on their prey simply because you didn't like being exposed for your false testiments and false practices.
this means your emotional and psychological and spiritual level is far from being grown up.. will you dare persecute me for pointing out such observations?
a spiritually grown person will reflect on what i say, admit to it and try to change, but a child of darkness will feel their ego hurt and group rpide kicks in causing a person not grown to become defensive bitter and mean/perhaps even spiteful.

I hate to tell you this, and it might just be a waste of breath, but what we are doing on this board IS WORKING.
1) I have heard that as many as 50% of JW's here in this country are now accepting blood to save their lives and especially that of their children, in accordance with Jeremiah 32:35 and Galations 6:10 and Phillipians 4:8, to name just a few. ONE LIFE SAVED is enough to justify everything we have done, but I believe the number is much higher than that.
2) Young Jehovah's Witnesses are now allowed to pursue higher education, thanks in part to economic backlashes within the JW organization and to decades long effeorts of people on this board and many like us and in accordance with Galations 6:10 and Phillipians 4:8, to name just a few. ONE YOUNG MIND NOT LAID TO WASTE is enough to justify everything we have done, but I believe the numbers are higher than that.
3) As far as ego, hurt, defensive, bitter, spiteful, perhaps they would never have been this way had they not been Jehovah's Witneses or worse. JW's want to shun, insult, lie, cover up, molest, beat and batter and the list goes on and on, and then throw someobody out into 'Spiritual Gehenna', and then that person turns all these bad emotions into a force for positive change, well then JW's have no one to blame but themselves in accordance with Galations 6:7, "Do not be misled: God is not one to be mocked. For whatever a man is sowing, this he will also reap;"
As far as 'Observation by an outsider', well you just go on observing if you want to, while the rest of us DO SOMETHING saving lives and minds.
PS: Wanted to rephrase that '50%' that is NOT JW's in general, but JW's and their children in medical emergencies where blood transfusions are an issue. About half opt to take them, and I work as a nurse and I see those same percentages as well.

and i never see a collection basket being passed around.

To save bandwidth, I will not reproduce the 4 paragraph answer here, but suffice it to say. the question is not answered. The paragraphs merely state that the bible writers quoted hundreds of passages of the Septuagint, and surely they must have used the Tetragrammaton in their quotes.
But this doesn't answer the question that was asked. Why not just say "We don't know"?
This is mind control, blatant and in writing. JW's are directed in writing to walk away from that door leaving the householder with a belief that had no evidence presented with which to substantiate it.

here i was in happy-no one is really bothering me too much-lala land, until yesterday when i had to go and open my mouth.
a pioneer sister from our hall emailed me to inquire what was preventing me from attending the meetings, and asked what was holding me back from going.
(this is about the 5th or 6th email asking this question) welllllll, i guess i just reached a point where i couldn't pretend anymore.
