Does anyone know of a movie that uses the visions described in the Book of Revelation? I'm not looking for some cheezy Hollywooodized soap opera ("Left Behind") - just a documentary or film that attempts to show what the scriptures are illustrating. Anything like that?

These days most everyone seems to follow this rule:
WHAT CAN I GET AWAY WITH TODAY?
Yeah, you had every right to park in your spot. I would have just had his gas-guzzler towed on his dime with a note on the ground:
Looking for your car? Call Tony at 555-HAUL. Don't park in my driveway again. Have a nice day. :)

A Question For Christians..what would you do if........
by chrisjoel ingiven the chance, if we made contact with an extraterrestial life form that came to dwell among us for even a short period of time, would you preach the gospel of jesus to it with a view to possibly baptizing the "alien" into christianity?

Depends. If it was a human-like alien that looks like us then I would discuss religion. If it was something like a "Grey" alien or something bug-like ... well, hell no!
A better question would be ... if a human-like alien came to invite you to join their crew to visit other worlds and galaxies - would you do it?

My story. In my old hall we had a young man with Tourrettes. Need I say more? OK I will. He and his lovely mother always sat at the front. One Thursday I actually made it with all the kids in tow. I was glad I did. This young man "cat called" every male speaker for the first half. Everything from a**hole to m*therf*cker. I know he can't help it. Bless his heart. But damn I nearly wet myself holding the laughter in!
That would have made me attend every single meeting non-stop. I would count the days, minutes and hours until the next meeting. My attendance record would have been spotless. LOL!

Also remember, the divorce rate is VERY HIGH in the Jehovah's Witnesses.
To compare 4.9% of Witnesses being divorced with 50% of worldly marriages ending in divorce shows the Watchtower Society has either a misunderstanding of statistics or is intentionally deceptive.
"The 51,400 divorces granted in 1998 occurred from the accumulated stock of all marriages contracted over the years and not from the 110,600 marriages registered in the year. For example, in 1998 there were 8.3 million married persons or about 4.1 million married couples. The 51,400 divorces represent about 12.4 divorces out of every 1,000 married couples." (Emphasis added)
The number of divorces in a year may equal 46% of the number of marriages in that year but it is not 46% of marriages. The above quote explains that this is not the figure to look at, as “divorces granted in 1998 occurred from the accumulated stock of all marriages, not those getting married.” In 1998 there were 8.3 million married people in Australia, so the number of divorces in a year represents only 1.24% of those married and 0.29% of the total population.
From my own experience, the divorce rate amongst young Witnesses has been high. Out of 44 of the peers I grew up with, 45% of those that got married were divorced within 10 years. In my current congregation 30% of those in my age group that were married are divorced, and many of the people in this sample size have been married for less then two years. Considering that the median age for divorce in Australia in around 40, we can expect well over half of these recent marriages will end up divorced.
Makes you think. AND IT SHOULD!!!

What will you do when the Great Tribulation Begins?
by Malkiel ini've always wanted to ask this question to those that have decided to leave the organization.. what will you do when the great tribulation begins?.
right now folks, a lot is happening in the political world.. gordon brown (prime miniter of england) last week gave a speech to the un stating that it is time for the un to step in and solve the world's problems, (specifically mentioning the economy and hunger crisis worldwide.).
barrack obama is shaping up to be the next president, a fellow who sure knows how to persuade and lead great crowds.

Real Good News
by superman inthis must be a sign of what will lie ahead for the j-dubs (at least in the united states).
this last weekend at the special day circuit assembly i went to, not a single person got baptized (zero, zip, nada) and the funny part was that they still had to give the baptism talk because it was already in the program schedule.
hopefully people are starting to catch on and we'll have a few more "zero baptism" assemblies.

Just like a robot ... once programmed - always programmed.
PROMPT C: Run WT_ROBOT.EXE
10 REM *** BAPTISM TALK ***
20 If BAPTISM PERSONS < 2 GOTO 40
30 If BAPTISM PERSONS > 2 GOTO 40
40 Give BAPTISM TALK
50 End
It was extremely odd during my decades of being a JW. The speaker actually said at the end of his talk, "We don't have any baptismal candidates", and he walked off stage concluding his part since there wasn't any need to ask the two questions. Then came the the strange part. Everyone clapped.
You know what I would have done? If noone clapped I would have started the "slow clap" ...

Oh, to be young and naive again ... *sigh*
First of all, you'll have to understand that he will obey Jehovah first. I'm not saying "He is obedient to God first", but his loyality to the Watchtower and the doctrines that come from the Governing Body. Depending on his goals as a Jehovah's Witness - if he wishes to become an elder or reach for higher ranks within the organization - his advancement will be greatly restricted because of his "worldly" wife. It will be seen as him being "weak" because he did not marry "in the truth", so he may (or may not) try to get you to conform.
It's all about conformity.
Love means you should NEVER have to change yourself to please another. I think you should continue researching and weigh the pros and cons before making a decision. It won't be easy to live in a split-faith relationship. No holidays or birthdays for the kids. It's a very dull lifestyle with the only excitement being the Memorial and wedding anniverseries.
Take a step back and look at the big picture ... see yourself 20 years from now ...
