there have been three different versions of god given light in the watchtower publications so far;.

why do you feel the need to talk all this bad stuff about others?

The book you were discussing."Revelation-it's grand climax at hand" entire contents is nothing about anything BUT "talking bad stuff about others". The whole book is full of condemning religion with name calling thrown in for good measure. Not only is religion condemned in it's pages, but so is all governments.

It's always ok for the witnesses to talk down others, judge and condemn them, call them names such as whores, false, Satans agents, beasts, liars, corrupt, opposers, murderers, bloodguilty, etc., but don't ever call the witnesses any of these names.

It's also funny how they put progressive information( brighter light) on the same level as false information. Clearer understanding has NEVER meant a false statement that has been changed to mean something entirely different.

The individual witness is just like it's mother that they represent.......never admitting they were ever wrong about anything. Funny how much of the 'brighter light' the witnesses end up believing in is exactly what christendom, the lying whore, has been saying all along and without Jehovah's direction.

Freedom of Speech

my family has had an interesting evolution over the past few years of being exjws.. as jws, it didn't even occur to us to use profanity or vulgar language.

jehovah's witnesses don't speak that way - at least that's how i was brainwashed to believe - although i knew plenty of jws who do.. once we started experiencing the real world, it no longer seemed like such a crime (or sin, to be more precise) to say the occasional word that might get *bleeped* on tv.. after a while though, it grew old.

i started to feel that it wasn't my nature to talk that way, and using that language was not conducive to who i wanted to be as person and a professional.

I say next time they really want you to buy them something, inform them that that particular item is not included in the Canadian Charter of Rights that says (in part)
"....Everyone has the following fundamental freedoms: ... (b) freedom of thought, belief, opinion and expression..."

and that you're expressing your freedom of belief that that particular item is not necessary. Your teenager will pretty soon get the picture.

I think this is a great idea and also what Finally- Free said.

Scully, one thing I always did with my daughter that worked well was to have them imagine that THEY had a little girl......then ask them if they would like their little girl to do as they are acting. Ask her if she would like it if she had a little girl and the little girl talked to her that way if she thinks it would bother her and if she thinks other people would like to hear her little one talk that way. Before you do.....tell her you want her to answer as honest as she can and to REALLY imagine she has a little girl.

This sounds a little childish especially if your child is older......but i'm telling you it works excellent. Kids will change their tune if you change the roles from THEM to THEIR own child.

one example is the passage in matthew 5:43,44 which says, "you must love your neighbor and hate your enemy (44) however i say to you, you must love your enemy and pray for those persecuting you".. so, the question is....where did jesus get the idea from which says "you must hate your enemy"?

did the 'law' teach this idea?.

It seems the obvious is that the hatred mentioned in some of these verses was in the sense of hating the actions of gods enemies moreso than hating the individual. It also is a means to explain ones loyalty to YHWH.

It seems hard to imagine that the Israelite armies who destroyed the people of Caanan didn't have hearts full of hate when they slew these ones by the thousands. Modern day soldiers are trained to hate the enemy so that killing them becomes an easier task.

In spite of Jesus's council to love ones enemies the Watchtower chooses to use the Old Testament examples to apply their egenda towards those opposing their beliefs as noted below:

Watchtower 1961 July 15 p.420 A Time and Place for Everything

Jesus encouraged his followers to love their enemies, but God's Word also says to "hate what is bad." When a person persists in a way of badness after knowing what is right, when the bad becomes so ingrained that it is an inseparable part of his make-up, thenin order to hate what is bad a Christian must hate the person with whom the badness is inseparably linked. Indicating that Jesus did not mean for us to love the hardened enemies of Jehovah, David expressed this God-approved attitude: "Do I not hate those who are intensely hating you, O Jehovah, and do I not feel a loathing for those revolting against you? With a complete hatred I do hate them. They have become to me real enemies."-Matt. 5:44; Amos 5:15; Ps. 139:21, 22.

No matter how pleasant, how enticing, wicked things are to the fallen flesh, we must abhor them, even as the apostle commands. (Rom. 12:9) More than that, we want to hate those who willfully show themselves haters of Jehovah, haters of what is good.

Narkster brought out a good point but nobody commented on it. He said,

Anyone care to comment on the scriptures that go along with what the pharisses taught regarding hating your enimies according to the old law?

Anyways, puttin all seriousness aside I wish you two the best. my daughter married at 15 and a half and she still happily married to the same guy 17 years later so don't let anyone tell you young marriages don't work out manytimes. If you two really love each other, you will make it through the tough parts.......and you WILL have some tough parts.....trust me

Today's Text is Scriptural Blasphemy

hey gang, this morning as i was making some coffee i saw the "text book" lying there and decided i'd read todays text as i never do, just to see what it had to say.. it was taken from john 15:12 which says..... " this is my commandment, that you love one another just as i have loved you".. anyways, it goes on to say what jesus told his diciples who asked him which was the greatest of all the commandments and jesus answered them that "you must love god with all your heart and love your neighbor as yourself".

then it went on to ask if this law was also important to christians today and the comment was.... ( and heres the kicker) "absolutely, the law of christ involves a heartfelt love of god and includes a new command.....christians are to have a self sacrificing love for one another".. so rather than say christians are to love your fellowman, they twist the scripture and say christians are to love other christians.......and we all know by that statement they mean other jehovah's witnesses since they hold no regard for christians of this world.

yes, once again they play mind tricks on the publishers and tell them to love each other...rather than your fellowman and people of this world in general as was the case in the illustration jesus himself gave with the good samaritan.. it's no wonder jehovah's witnesses are despised by many in this world with their self rightous attitudes and beliefs regarding their fellowman that is induced in them by a few old men from brooklyn new york.. i hope your reading this wtbts spies, i really do.

Yes Arthur, it was "a jew" who fell among the robbers....and it was "a Jew" who passed him by. It was a Samaritan who helped the Jew and as we all know, the Jews despised the Samaritans (their distant cousins).

Just as a Samaritans showed love to even his enemy, so should a JW show love to their enemies.....which are people of the "world"....at least in a JW's eyes. The samaritan didn't say, "Here, let me leave you a copy of our law to read while your bleeding to death and perhaps if you die, god will remember you....that is if you put stock in the in formation I'll leave you".

That's about the extent of how the witnesses see their fellowman.

Boy ain't that the truth! They are so afraid of making "friends with the world" that they wouldn't think of lending a neighbor a helping hand......at least in many or most cases.

I already decided to go to keep peace.

If you are not quite ready to face what's coming if you make it obvious you no longer are interested in being a witness, then personally I would do the above. I personally decided to keep peace, but not to give up on the idea of fading either. I'm taking it cautiously, slowly, and at my own pace and doing things to counter them when the opportunity makes itself available. I''m going this year because I want to be reminded of why I no longer wish to be a Jehovahs Witness and am using it as a learning experience. I plan to take mental notes of how far off base the society is at celebrating Jewsus death......then I plan on using what I see and experience by bringing up things discreetly. Don't feel you have to take a staunch stand in every scenario if you think it's going to bring you more grief than you can bare at this particular time.
