I once had an old farmer give me several turkey eggs for the magazines one Saturday morning.

Did people DONATE for the literature when you went out in service?
by BonaFide ini think i got a donation maybe once or twice here in the states.
most of the friends don't ask for a donation.
in south america, more people donated, but i think it's because it was phrased differently, we used to say, "you can give whatever you want for this magazine.

when my youngest son was about 6 years old he had an inflatable balloon type hammer, (it was about 3 feet long).
And on mornings when he did not want to get up for either school or service I would get this thing and hit him with it, he really disliked it
but it was very efficient in getting him out of bed.
Well, one time the CO was talking to us after the service meeting and he asked my son if he would be out in service Saturday morning.
Jeff turns to him and said " yea, but I hope that my dad doesn't hit me with the hammer in the morning.
Mortified looks all around until I explained the whole situation, and that I was NOT a child abuser !!!!

Could you imagine something like this following the terminator movies ?
Arnold appearing early on a Saturday morning, going up to a door and saying
"come with me if you want to live" when the door gets slammed in his face he would turn to the camera and say
"I'll be back"
Alright,,,,I need to get out more often !

AGAIN with the college bashing
by Pistoff inok so the mate took good notes at the ca and here is the newest on "higher education:.
the usual bashing of motives: those who want great wealth, prestige and seek it in a college educationcollege graduates don't always get jobs in their fieldsdrugs, drinking and sex are "rampant" at collegesthose who want to "snatch us away" are near if we go to college (isa 54)if we seek a college education, we are not spiritual mindedthe most disturbing for me was this:.
those who choose college will not get blessings from jehovahand of course there was the obligatory interview with the college graduate who disdains the education whe received.. .

Drugs drinking and sex are rampant at colleges.
These things were rampant at the congregation I attended (CL Illinois) for over 20 years with the teenagers and certain elders,,,, what kind of logic do these fools follow?
Look at yourself first before you go bashing someone who wants to better themselves !

Were there any "dynasties" in your congregation?
by truthseeker indid your congregation have any so-called dynasties, or "a succession of rulers who belong to the same family for generations"?.
my last congregation had a family who had or seemed to have complete control over most aspects of congregation operations.
they like to run the show and make it obvious that they are in charge.. then there are those who receive unearned privileges because their father is an elder who fast tracked his son to eldership.. .

We were told by two elders, "no Sara will not be resurrected, she never took her first breath, so in God’s eyes she was never a living soul”. L
Freeman, I'm sorry that they put you throught this, my Mother had two miscarriages while i was growing up and the elders told her pretty much
the same thing.
But three years ago, one of these elders has a daughter who lost her baby at 7 months, and he orchestrated a "memorial talk" at the KH for the baby.
I wouldn't go, because of what he told my mom 38 years ago. -

snubbed by the dubs...
by undercover inas most of ya'll know, i'm not dfd or dad, just faded and i've commented about how i still have some contact with some jws that i used to associate with.
only on rare occassions do jws that i didn't know that well to begin with treat me as persona non grata...no big deal, i usually couldn't remember their names to begin with so it wasn't like i was being shunned by family or friends.. this story begins at the mall, where i was with my wife (*sbm), not my favorite place to be...but the sacrifices we have to make sometimes...you married guys know.... anyhoo, we're in a common area near the food court, deciding if we wanted to get a snack or just hold out for real food in a real restaurant somewhere else, when a "sister" we've known for years spots my wife and comes up.
we've known this person for over 20 years...we go way back.

why did you let them have the upper hand in the conversation ?
Since you were not in a KH, or AH, standing there and making your presence known, getting involved with their conversation and refusing them the satisfaction of their "religious rightousness" I believe would have made much more of an impact then walking away and allowing them to play out their little superiority role-playing.

My wounds opened up badly today
by Maddie inthe past three weeks having been so stressful and very sad.
my ex husband died after being in hospital for just over a week in intensive care.. i was just 18 and he was 21 when we first met and after a whirlwind romance we married 6 months later and have two sons together who are now adults.
although our marriage ended after 25 years and i remarried 7 years ago, he was my first love and i knew him for most of my life.

I'm so sorry, and I also am speechless at the way you are being treated.
