Destruction during GT
by cameo-d init seems i read 1/4 world population taken down by one of the "horsemen.
then i remember a scripture that if time were not cut short none would be saved.. (1/4 world population does not sound like annhiliation of humankind.).
are these people destroyed during the gt?

Witnesses = christian? consider this:
by DoomVoyager ini was bored at the bookstudy the other night, and the book being studied is of course "live with jehovah's day in mind".
this book is (ostensibly) based entirely off ot writings, specifically the minor prophets.
however, you'd expect to see the odd mention of jesus here and there, seeing as they do claim to be christians and all?.

Thanks. Yes, a good example of a general failure by the JW's to honour Jesus, which Christians are meant to do. I bet the "Organisation" is mentioned dozens of times before page 180.
Good thought, I will investigate it at the next bookstudy.

Leolaia: I was trying to post my own thoughts on the topic but JWD kept giving me an error, so I ended up just putting the link.
What I was going to say was that the site had an ulterior religious motive, was not a valid scholarly source, but did provide a list of scriptures found in the KJV and not present in NWT.

Recall that last weeks Watchtower accused all non-Witnesses of "never really wanting to be footstep followers of Christ".
Now, I looked through the publication of these so-called "footstep followers of Christ" and lo and behold, Jesus is not even mentioned by name until page 180 out of a 192 page book. 94% of the book passes by before Jesus is even given a cursory nod! In fact, several pages earlier the ransom is lauded as a "loving provision of Jehovah" with no mention of Christ... uh, yeah, last time I checked, it was in fact Jesus who fulfilled the ransom.
I may be atheist, but it still pisses me off that these slimebags load their book up with qualifier phrases like "true Christians" and "Christian servants of Jehovah" but then act like Christ never even existed.

Colossians 1:16-17 was recently changed. It used to have the word "other" inserted 4 times, always appearing in square brackets, so as to support their anti-Trinitarian dogma. However, the most recent editions of the NWT have the word "other", in the same 4 places, but without the square brackets. This one is the most striking becuase she probably has a NWT 3 or 4 years old which she can compare herself to a new one from the KH.
Older version:
16 because by means of him all [other] things were created in the heavens and upon the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, no matter whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All [other] things have been created through him and for him. 17 Also, he is before all [other] things and by means of him all [other] things were made to exist,
Most recent:
16 because by means of him all other things were created in the heavens and upon the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, no matter whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All other things have been created through him and for him. 17 Also, he is before all other things and by means of him all other things were made to exist.

More importantly, WHY did he pick them? According to their current standards, they were apostates, liars, spiritual fornicators, cannibals, and people of filthy, unacceptable habits. What's more, some of them even had BEARDS! Why would Jesus pick a bunch of bearded spiritually fornicating tobacco-smoking cannibals as his faithful earthly representatives?
