Why did Jesus suffer?
Why did Perseus cut off Medusa's head?
Because it makes great theater.
if i want to forgive someone, it's not necessary for me to punish anyone.
it makes absolutely no sense to me, why an almighty, loving god would punish his son, for an offense that someone else committed.
here is what some others to have to say on the topic.

if you are ever getting slowly toasted on vodka and orange juice and find that, inexplicabley you run out of vodka, jack and orange jucie is nowher ner as bad as you would htink.. just sayin.
This makes me recall a party I held at my house as a JW. We were drinking vodka, and by itself it was too much for me. But with orange juice, it was fine. Eventually, though, it didn't matter when we ran out of juice cuz I got so toasted I could handle the vodka by itself just fine.
i'm so glad i happened to stumble across this website cause i really need to express what i've been holding inside for quite some time.
i'm 27 and was born and raised in the "truth".
i'm married and my husband was also raised as a jw, been married for almost 7 years and have two kids who have just started kindergarten and preschool.
Welcome!
How many times have I read someone's experience here and found it to be a mirror image of my own?
It's so important for me not to allow my kids to go through the nonsense that I had to endure being raised a Witness.
cultural perceptions of perfection are compelling, but you already have perfection inside you.. rather than striving for some perfect future life, zen encourages you to live your life right now.. humans feel.
acknowledge your feelings so they can pass.. humans think.
have your thoughts, but don't mistake them for who you are..
Yet that is the only place we reside. Zen's teaching us to meditate on our breathing, on what we hear, see, and feel around us at the present moment helps us to get the most out of every experience and focus on what is really important.

being a jehovah's witness at any time and at any level is a major head f*ck.
the reason is that it obscures what is important and causes you to focus on what doesn't matter.. i've moved on from my jw experience.
it's a shame that i found myself a born in, taught to focus on things that don't matter.
Great post, Jeff!
Goes hand in hand with what I've learned about Zen and its focus on what matters.
Wonderful quote: "Being a family is more important than being a cult".
Here's a song that I associate with the advice of your mother to "be happy":

And yes, I made it to the end of your post.
greetings, friends:.
i recall not too long ago that an article in one of the publications [km, awake!, wt ...
] mentioned a young sister who had a flourishing day-care service that she loved.
Of course! But until the Watchtower pays me for pushing their beliefs comparable to what I'm making now, I'll just continue to put work first.
i coudn't help but notice in a recent watchtower ( february i think it was).
jesus was pointing the way to some one with two fingers ,not to somebody who had two fingers but pointing the way with two fingers.
just one finger might have give the wrong impression.. the point is jesus had what can only be described as this fabulous head of hair .i mean it was like wow because your worth it !
Holy Christ, Batman!

Shake it up, baby! Shake it up!
i stopped trying to sing the songs last meeting.
it felt like a combination of chanting and stepping on a cat.
it is terrible.
The new songbook is proof that the Governing Body still does not have a clue about what this organization really needs.
Not only do the songs sound basically the same, but they've actually gotten even more boring!
The whole project was completely unnecessary (unless it had actually produced catchy music with a backbeat).
It's just like their response to every legitimate criticism they receive- outdated, boneheaded, and misguided.
And yet they still believe everything they say carries the weight of God himself!
Here's some advice, GB: buy a drumset for your recordings- if for no other reason than to wake us all up with the cymbals!
