I was thrilled to find this place where others share similar experiences and everyone is free to talk openly about it.It has been good therapy for me as I was devastated from my wild ride as a JW.

PSYCHOLOGY TODAY magazine features ex-JW book!
by escapefromcult ini was flipping thru the latest issue (dec. 2002) of the popular magazine psychology today, and noticed some book reviews.
the article on pg.
76 is entitled "cq: psychology today introduces culture quotient (cq), a review of the season's most psychologically astute...books, ..." and one the 11 books they chose to bestow this description upon was diane wilson's new book, awakening of a jehovah's witness: escape from the watchtower society".

I think that's wonderful. In my opinion, that book deserves more recognition than it's been receiving.Very well-written and easy to relate to,for me anyhow.

Should JWS use Pelican crossings?
by badboy in.
a pelican crossing has a pole at 1 end(i believe i may have seen these poles with maypole type ribbons somewhere),there should jws use pelican crossings(of course it also contains the word `cross' and that has pagan connections!).
only goes to show there r pagan connections with everything including rutherford, but that a different story!

They told me not to buy anything from Goodwill because someone from christendom's churches may have worn it and it could be demonized. How ludicrous is that?

nancee park,
They showed the box on T.V. and it seemed to be about 18 inches wide when the guy was holding it.I wasn't aware that the Jews used these boxes.I thought it was their custom to prepare the body with spices and wrap it in cloth and bury it in a grave.

I don't know whether it's authentic or not but could someone please tell me how they got a person's bones in such a small box?Did they cut them up or wait for the flesh to deteriorate or what?

What did you REALLY think about the banned things
by SpannerintheWorks inwhat prompted this topic was when an ex-jw ( ex-elder ) friend of mine told me that once when he was doing a "car" witness with three others, near to christmas time, they lost one of them!
after a bit of searching along the route, the others eventually found him in a house, eating a mince pie and drinking a glass of brandy!.
my friend reminded him that he shouldn't be participating in these " worldly things.

Men not being allowed to have a beard is totally absurd. There is no scriptural basis for it that I ever found. And NO,I would not allow my child to die if he needed blood. When I was a dub,I signed for my son to have blood if he needed it before he went in for a tonsillectomy. My husband was an unbeliever so there was no problem with him.I never told any of the Witnesses about it and I felt a little guilty but I would have felt worse if he had needed it and I had refused to sign.
