Since Leaving "The Truth" Are You Really Happier?
by minimus inwitnesses say that when people leave "the truth", they get involved in a debauched life, misery, and general unhappiness.. they give experiences of some that left the "sweet fellowship" of the "brotherhood" and the awful results because of it.
then, they come back and their lives change 100% for the better!.
have you found life to be miserable and unproductive since "leaving jehovah"?.

How to look up pretrial cases online?
by cognac inthere is a jw who just had his pretrial for shaking his baby to death.
is there any way to look it up online to read the transcript of it?.

Not sure what you mean by "had his pretrial." Maybe you are referring to a hearing on a pretrial motion.
At any rate, if the matter is in state court, Google "(county name) Superior Court." Look on the court's website for "case summary," or similar. You will need to enter the case number in the appropriate field. (If you don't know the case number, you can enter the parties' names.) Once you have located the list of documents on file in the case, there should be information as to how you may download them. There is usually a nominal fee for this.
If the matter is in federal court, use this link and establish an account. Again there will be a nominal fee for each document downloaded: http://pacer.psc.uscourts.gov/
If you mean a trial transcript, use the appropriate procedure above to contact the applicable court to order the transcript. Again, you will need the case number, or a the very least the parties' names.
If you have trouble with this you can PM me and I will see if I can help further.

Hello..this is my story..
by Lozhasleft ini'm pleased to have found this site...i've browsed a little ...read quite a lot and gasped at some stories, giggled at the one liners and nodded in recognition of others' strong opinions and can relate to a great deal.. i'll try and keep my intro as brief as possible for anyone kind enough to listen.. i got involved with the witnesses in the late 70's in the uk.
i was in my early 20s and had had a love and fascination for the bible since my difficult childhood.
i soon brought my life into 'line' although it took a long time for me to pack up the smoking which didnt go down well in those days when 6 months of study should have been enough and if you hadnt cracked it then it was suggested that you were some kind of loser.... i reared my 4 children in the 'truth' as well as i could but i cant claim that we were a 'strong' family in their terms...just muddled along really..my husband at the time was a very difficult and abusive man and home life wasnt easy for any of us with his anger, jealousy and violence.

I have a touchy situation...could use some advice
by tenyearsafter ini just got an e-mail from my 80 year old mother asking my wife and i to join her for the memorial this year.
i really don't want to go, but i am also trying to maintain some degree of a relationship with her.
she is breaking the "rules" by not shunning me, but i don't know how she will react if i reject her invitation.

As someone who knows you, your mother and your wife, I would say go.

A question about marriage in the organization
by dgp inthis post was motivated by another thread, namely.
http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/jw/friends/188552/1/onereason-for-a-gentleman-fader-to-stay-reasonably-associated.
this thread makes reference to the fact that a 40 something brother has a real chance with twenty-something and less sisters.

Drawing away disciples after myself? Or Jesus?
by sd-7 inindeed, this is the riddle.
but since i've nothing to offer anyone, i'd prefer to draw people towards jesus and away from blindly trusting men.
i think most anyone who has been one of jehovah's witnesses and challenged their beliefs (subsequently watching them fall like a house of cards) would probably feel the same, assuming they didn't just give up on religion altogether.. i find myself in a rather unexpected position.

Beautifully expressed! You could have been describing my wife as you were describing yours. It has worked out well for us simply because we were willing to face the facts, such as the ones you list in your 3rd paragraph.
By your account, your leanings were discovered by your wife. Naturally you owed her an explanation. It was not a case of your initiating a scheme to draw her away after yourself. I believe you are accurate when you say you are drawing her to Jesus, because you acknowledge that you, yourself, have nothing to offer her.
Guilt is inculcated (best word for it) by the organization. It's no wonder you feel it. My experience is that it does subside with time and more healthful information.
All the best.

No books, but it could be a series of study articles in the WT.
