I like George Carlin's quote on God and money. He needs money! He always needs money! He's all-powerful, all-perfect, all-knowing, and all-wise, somehow just can't handle money! Religion takes in billions of dollars, they pay no taxes, and they always need a little more. Now, you talk about a good bull#@*# story. Holy @#*$t!

Why do Jehovah's Witnesses pray to God?
by Quirky1 inwhen the bible claims there is only one mediator between god and man, jesus christ....isn't this considered hypocritical of their teachings?.
re: 1tim2:5 & john 14:6.

To reply to sacs:
"For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace." (Isaiah 9:6).
So, should we conclude that the JWs have two gods and two Fathers? Simply put, they skip Jesus altogether and want a relationship with the Father directly.
The JW's believe that 'Mighty God' does not mean 'Almighty'. 'Eternal Father' is explained as Jesus adopted mankind since our first earthly father 'Adam' screwed it up. Since Jesus lives forever is why he is 'Eternal'. A scripture later tells that when the 100 years is over and mankind reaches perfection then Jesus hands the Kingdom back to his Father and once again as Adam had will have direct relationship with the Father directly.

Jehovah's Witnesses Are A Nosy Bunch, Aren't They?
by minimus ineveryone needs to know what you're doing, who you associate with, what movies and tv you see, whether you plan on extended schooling, what you do on weekends, etc.. they want you to account to them.
if they believe you're acting not quite in accord with their standards, they'll inquire about your business.. the elders believe they are literally, god's gift to everyone else.
they expect total openess in every matter including your love life, your goals and your secrets.. like i said, witnesses are so (too) nosy..

I found it almost impossible to share anything at times with your fellow witless without some sort of critical eye or critical comment. They are so indoctrinated with counseling one another that it gets to the point of mental exhaustion. I seen this with many now ex-witlesses over the years, that when some who get pecked with criticism (oops! I mean loving counsel) over and over again they eventually fall away. Then the self righteous ones who pecked this individual to death just label them as weak and don’t have the least bit of remorse for their action. There is no accountability. I remember one scripture about those who stumble others it would be of more advantage to him if a millstone were suspended from his neck and he were thrown into the sea than for him to stumble one of these little ones.

Her way of trying to bring you back to the fold using guilt will destroy you inside. She is doing everything wrong from the scriptural point of view in how she is treating you. (1 Peter 3:1) Witlesses continue to use this technique of guilt. They use it in their talks, sheparding visits, their so-called loving counsel and so on. This is what you need to present her. Either she follows the scriptural admonition found at 1 Peter 3:1 rather than the guilt trips or for your own mental state of health you need to get out.

Do the beliefs of JW's actually improve the quality of their lives?

I have to agree with the above statement, depression and suicides rank very high with JWs. Even though the moral practices are good and this should make this a protection to most, it is the thought that what you are doing is never good enough. Just when you think you are doing all you can in meeting attendance, service and so on, the expectation and the message that this is still not enough creates depression in most and the feeling of being inadequate runs high. The average JW then has the need to look for another outlet in order to feel adequate and to escape the feeling of I'm not good enough.

How Many JW Terms Aren't in the Bible?
by jamiebowers inthe following youtube video made by a young person who is unbaptized and hopes to become a publisher says that the word "rapture" isn't in the bible.
a comment on the video says that the words "disfellowship", and "god's organization" aren't in the bible either and that the name jehovah isn't written in the new testament aka greek scriptures.
can we further enlighten this young person as to how many words jws typically use that aren't in the bible?

Had one elder refer to the brothers who were not elders or servants as secondary brothers. I said "what is that?"
