Making God's Commands Arbitrary
by milligal inthere's a philosophical theology behind the premise that people who blindly obey (a.k.a.
'sheeplike') have no inner sense of morality or ethics.
take for exampe the idea of shunning, jw's shun those that they are told to shun.

Women being in subjection...a sore subject
by milligal ini was raised jw and of course the whole theory that a man is the head and the woman must respect her husband and be in subjection to his authority was ingrained in me from a young age.
my mother, (oddly enough) chose the jw religion, dragged my father in kicking and screaming (he later served as an elder for 17 years) and she complained constantly about men being in control and her pains as a woman in subjection.
now, i already have a good idea about my mother's problems.

Any other exhausted moms out there?
by milligal ini have three kids, the youngest are 3 and five months.

Does anyone else have a problem with conformity?
by milligal inrecently my husband and i moved south to an area known as the 'bible belt' for his job.
we are northerners and from a liberal area.
i just cannot seem to tolerate the amount of 'shut-up and put-up' around here.

My ex (JW) wants me to set up playdates for son with JW's!!!
by milligal inlet me preface my story by stating that my ex put me through a 3 year long divorce (complete with private investigators and psychological evaluations) and 4 more years of custody battles until i ran out of money and had to concede and give our son over to him.. my ex called me about my summer parenting time coming up soon and wants to drive our son to my home town which is now in a different state then he is in.
then he asked me for a couple days of my parenting time so he could take our son to the local congregation and set up some playdates with witness kids!
i have been df'd for 8 years, never been back to meetings and my husband is in the military....we celebrate holidays!

Why bad things happen to good people...part II
by milligal inon a further note from the last thread i posted, i was wondering: in reference to the jw teaching that god was challenged by satan in the garden of eden (and i don't know how many other religions teach this) does it make sense to anyone that an all-powerful god would care?
if satan really was a lesser creature, and the only individuals who would know he challeneged god were the angels looking on -god's creations, then it does not seem logical to me that god would feel threaterned/offended or in any way slighted enough to allow all the misery that has taken place simply for the purpose of rectifying this challenge.
simply put: why would god care?

Why bad things happen to good people...
by milligal inone thing that jw's teach that i can't abide by is that god allows bad things to happen so that he can vindicate his name after satan challenged him in the garden of eden.
if you tell me that god is loving, than you cannot also state that he would allow an earthful of people to suffer starvation, cancer, war and countless other atrocities simply so that he feels better about being challenged.
he's god -right?

High Maintenance Kids-anyone else have them?
by milligal ini guess i'm just looking around for other parents experiencing similar situations as i am -while being df'd and having little family support!.
my oldest (9 yr old) son is asperger's (highly functioning autistic) and ocd.
i worked really hard with him through behavioral therapy and medication and he is doing so well.

When witness familly members are difficult or abusive...feel free to vent
by milligal ini wanted to open this thread for discussion after reading some other posts which sound very similar to my own situation.
i wondered if anyone would like to share suggestions, vent and get it off their chest or respond to my own issue.. in my case, my parents are jw and are relatively easy to deal with outside of the fact that they seek me out and ultimately want to save my soul (an uneven relationship).
however my husbands parents-his mother in particular, is a pill!

JW relatives....ughh
by milligal ini'm wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this (sorry it's kind of long): both my husband and i are df'd.
both our families are active witnesses.
his family has decided to shun us 150% (you know what i mean, no phone calls even when you're dying).
