teejay,
Thats so sad. Im sorry you feel that way.
I could never imagine being with another man.
Well, I might imagine it but I could never actually go through with it. My husband and I have been together for almost 14 years. I love him more every day. Dont get me wrong, I am very very satisfied sexually but it goes way beyond that. I do still believe in keeping things interesting in that department. Without intimacy there is bound to be problems.
I still honestly look forward to seeing him when I get home from work every day. I would have to say I disagree with you on this. I believe if you truly love someone, you wouldnt actually desire anyone else physically.
True love is not just about sex.

Simplesally,
We were always told that when someone wished us a "Merry Christmas" we were to respond, "Thank you" so as not to appear rude.
I once heard my grandfather slip in a "You Too".
It all seems so petty doesnt it. -

Reborn,
Awww, Im picturing you having to do that.
Those huge guilt trips on kids are so cruel.O.K.
Has anyone ever dared go Trick or Treating on Halloween?
That would be like the most demonized, worldly, pagan thing a J.W. kid could ever do.
I went for the first time with my daughter. We now do Halloween to the Max every year. We love it. Even the grown ups dress up at my house. -

Lilacs,
I have to say that I agree with COMF and Imbue.
I dont believe all men are like this just as much as I dont believe all women are any particular "way". Each person is an individual.
There are nice guys out there. -

While you were a J.W. did you ever secretly celebrate a worldly holiday in a way that did or didnt bother your conscience?
For example on a different day etc?My J.W. cousin allows her son to recieve christmas gifts from non J.W. family but only if they are wrapped in plain wrapping paper and not in the traditional Christmas Wrapping paper. This would somehow make the gift less pagan?
I used to walk home from school thinking I was going to be killed by Jehovah because I didnt refuse the Valentine cards my friends had given.
My J.W. grandmother used to send everyone a "Thinking of you" card along with one dollar for each year of their age about one week before their actual birthday. One month before she died she sent me one and actually added, in her own words, "Another year goes by".
She was so sweet. I am glad she was able to acknowledge birthdays in a way that didnt make her feel guilty since she obviously enjoyed it. -

Joy,
I love it,
This is so funny and quite accurate in some areas.Star,
All the women I work with get along great,
When we are all face to face.
We never talk about eachother,
When we are in the same room.
I dont let office gossip bother me to much. Although annoying, its practically unavoidable if people are talking.
Men, by the way, are just as bad. They love to gossip too. -

Bizarre religious doctrines
by Solace ini am aware of false religious doctrines in the w.t.s.. i never really considered the possibility of others also being manipulated by different religious organizations.. i work with a woman who is very devout in her beliefs.
the women in her church are not permitted to use birth control, cut their hair, wear makeup or wear jewelry.
they may sing but no music or musical instruments are permitted.

Xenu,
You said Arabic,
Where are you from?
Im sure we have many different ideals of what is bizarre. Im not even sure if we worship the same God or have the same bible.
Some countries would consider my way of dress bizarre and would beat me over the head because of it.
Im sorry if the word "bizarre" upset you or caused you or anyone to detest someone.
I officially change the word "bizarre" to "unusual". Yes, in this culture."Unusual" or "not common" religious practices, in my opinion, can not be clearly backed up with scriptural reasoning.
Xanders example of a phone shanty outside of the home is a good one.
This is Bizarre, unusual and not very common, well not were Im from anyway.Clash,
That looks interesting.
Did I read something about having to visit Disney World?
Is that for real? -

Disturbing material in May 15, 2002 Watchtower
by spender inin the questions from readers section, the question was: "would it be advisable for a true christian to attend a funeral or a wedding in a church?".
to analyze this wonderful piece, i'm going to use their words, and translate them into real english.. "being in a group where everyone else is engaging in a false religious act, a christian may find it difficult to resist the pressure to join in.
how unwise to expose oneself to such pressure!".

My uncle did not attend his own daughters wedding because it was at a Catholic church. Her sister stood outside on the steps. Sad.
You attend a funeral out of respect if someone close to you died. I think if someone is secure in their faith they should have no problem going into a different church etc.
Im sure the W.T.S knows that the truth is not with them and are afraid J.W.s will be "stumbled", or enlightened if they are exposed to other forms of worship that better coincide with the scriptures.
I believe that the W.T.S tries to seperate J.W.s and their non J.W. family during these occasions and on holidays because this is when a family should be together. Most people would feel very hurt and rejected if close family were to avoid them during these events. Well, except in the case of the funeral of course.
The W.T.S tells J.W.s that they do not need their family. They tell members that the congregation is their "spiritual family" and that is all they need. After all, their worldly family will all be done away with in armageddon and are as good as dead anyway.
Getting members to accept this way of thinking is a big plus for the W.T.S. It causes witnesses to become not just spiritually but also emotionally dependant on the organization. This gives the society a much stronger hold on the J.W.s. -

Lilacs.
42.
That is very interesting.
I dont really like to be the center fo attention but sometimes I find myself surrounded by many people, especially at the office. I think its because I just love to chat and usually involve everyone around me, even if they dont want to be. I guess I like to get others opinions on what Im talking about.
Hey, I think that would also explain why Im here. -
