What's particularly galling is that the conference is on freedom of religion or belief, the very thing the WTS will disfellowship you for believing yourself...
Sickening.
JW apologists; please help us exJWs understand "Mother's" actions.

well - i today i had the opportunity to tell my wife i no longer believe in the things that i have spent my life immersed in and that i didn't want my life run by 9 geriatrics in brooklyn.. her reaction was understandable her first questions was "what have you been reading"?.
i didn't mention this site but told her i was shocked by something i heard regarding the wts's ngo status with the un, dissapointed by the new light on the generation and disturbed by the flip flopping on blood fractions.
i explained how these things were at best hypocritical and at worst have meant some people have lost their lives unnecessarily because of the societies previous position.
Great job, cantleave. Your conversation sounds very similar to the one I had with my wife. We too agreed to do more 'study' but we only used the Bible. Within 2 months we'd both stopped attending meetings and were on the road to freedom.
lady lee was the guest, and farkel, flipper alltime jeff, middleman, mouthy and some other jwners lent their voices to the mix.
it was so cool to hear them talking!
sorry that i didn't mention everyone by name, but i didn't catch some of them.
Wha' happened?
i get sick to death of people denigrating mother teresa, saying that she was selfish and petty-minded.. i am especially fed up with those who say that her saintliness was purely an illusion created by her possessing minimal consciousness, like that of a small child or dog, and as such was further away from god than the average criminal.. i find this sort of talk utterly repulsive.
it is simply not right to say such horrible things about someone who was so sweet and gentle and who dedicated her whole life to helping others.. .
there!.
If religion = evil, then of course Mother Theresa is going to be attacked.
they only call when someone in the family dies or there is some other sort of "family emergency".. .
my father told me that he has been diagnosed with terminal mesothelioma.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/mesothelioma.
Sorry to hear your news and I'm sorry that the WTS has robbed you of a meaningful relationship with your father before now.
i know many people simply think that believing in a "god" is simply ridiculous.
i don't.
i can't necessarily "prove" that god cares, or that god exists but i'll tell you what---when something awful happens i do pray to god and hope for the best..
I believe in God.
a sister rang and left a message to see how we are....but i called back the next day and she said...."oh sorry i have no time to talk, the circuit oversear is coming for dinner, can you call back?
" this reminds me of c.o dinners it's a major suck up...like jesus and his apostles are coming for dinner.
the pioneers like this sister always get the c.o to come over.. anyone had the pleasure?.
@ Farkel; yes! Fantastic stuff. These guys love shooting "Jehovah"* in the foot.
*The Governing Body
"unless they know and love jehovah first.
they love "jehovah".
they discuss how to make sure that though they are in charge, everyone doesn't see them, they see the great and powerful jehovah.... oh.
@ Chalam;
From wikipedia;
"In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts controversial, inflammatory, irrelevant or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room or blog, with the primary intent of provoking other users into an emotional or disciplinary response [ 1 ] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion. [2]"
I think Spike and Reniaa both fit the bill.
by "theology" i mean "the study of god (gk.
: theos).. jws keep rabbiting on ad nauseum about the trinity teaching being "irrational", "impossible to understand", etc.. i do not want this thread to be about the trinitarian doctrine.. i want to be given an explanation of what a jw believes.
i have seen so many arrows and spears thrown by jws, i want to know exactly what they are defending.. i want to see an explanation of "god" that is rational and can be understood.. doug.
@ Spike - you are correct, but only if Jehovah is Jesus.
This isn't a guessing game or a hit and miss search-the-WTCDRom-for-the-answers quiz; it's all there in the Bible, as Chalam has just demonstrated.
I'm interested, though, who are the others that the Holy Spirit leads us to?
minimus started a thread asking people to prove that jws don't have the truth.... but, instead of proving they don't, i'd like to see someone prove that the witnesses do have the truth.. this is your thread jw apologists....convince me why you have the truth.. to all you apostates and nay-sayers, please allow the apologists to have their say without harrassing them.

@ Spike;
Jesus is Jehovah's foremost Witness. Even the name Jesus means "Jehovah provides salvation".
Think it through, Spike.
If Jesus is the means of salvation and the Holy Spirit witnesses about Jesus, and Jesus himself said Christians would be witnesses of him, where exactly does the term Jehovah's Witness come from?
- Jesus = saviour
- Holy Spirit = witness about Jesus
- Christian = witness of Christ
