Anyone used Steve Hassans techniques to successful get a JW to see TTATT
by Frazzled UBM ini am back online (sitting in the cathay lounge on my way to sydney) after a week with my wifes dysfunctional jw family in the rural philippines.
thanks to your recommendation i have been reading steve hassans book and it has been very helpful for improving my communications with my wife by making me understand what will keep conversations going and what will shut them down.
it has also helped me to understand what is going on with her.

Effect of family life (me, wife and young boy) if I am df / da and wife zealous jw
by Daniel1555 ini have a question and hope to hear some experiences of you who went or are going through this situation:.
actually for several reasons (blood policy, disfellowshipping policy and some more) my conscience is telling me quite strongly, that i should not anymore be a part of that organization.. my wife and even elders know about my doubts (except blood policy).
however i continue to join the meetings actually just to please my wife and to be together with our baby boy.

"What would be the consequences on family life if I disassociate myself?"
A divorce, with your wife winning sole custody is a very real possibility. You have nothing to gain and everything to lose by publicly disassociating yourself. A simple approach would be to not answer any more questions about anything related to the organization, and to simply stop attending meetings.
There is a HUGE difference between how an apostate is treated, and how a person is treated who has simply stopped attending meetings.
Make no mistake, if you DA yourself -- you're an apostate. A believing JW wife does not want to be married to an apostate, nor does she want an apostate to raise her child.
Food for thought.
Plan for the worst, hope for the best.

Please Share one of your Favourite Quotations
by cofty inhave you ever come across words that resonate with you?
it doesn't have to be a great gem of wisdom, just something that is meaningful to you.. please share, and if you want to, tell us why it's meaningful to you.. here is something that made me nod when i first read it.... .
"fortunate are those who have learned to see, in the wild things of nature, something to be loved, something to be wondered at, something to be reverenced, for they have found the key to a never-failing source of recreation and refreshment".

by lostinthought init has been several years since my awakening.
since then i have stopped pioneering, stopped doing temp work at bethel, stopped field service (at the most, i went out a few hours a month for the last couple of months), my meeting attendance has been around 50 percent or so.
i have decided not to go back.

Step 1 is to imagine yourself happy, without any JWs in your life. Once you're out, all of of them will turn their backs on you. This includes your close "friends" and family.
You can drag out the process of leaving, or tell them point blank the truth.
The end result is the same: ALL of the JWs are out of your life.
Until you're ready to lose them all, stay in and keep up appearances.
You'll know when it's time to cut the chord. You'll reach the point at which staying in hurts worse than what you imagine the future loss will be.

Active Witness Reading Combatting Cult Mind Control
by BU2B ini have gotten a thought about how to wake active witnesses up.
since the book does not mention jws specifically, if you could get a active jw to read ccmc, what do you think their reaction would be?
could they clearly see how jws fit in as a cult?, or would the average jw be blinded to the obvious and just see how other groups like mormons, moonies, scientology, etc fit the mold?

I've discovered that most ex-JWs won't read it. So, keep your expectations low for an active JW to read a book even remotely concerned with religion.
My suggestion would be to remove the 'Recommended Reading' page at the rear of the book that does mention JWs. Also, I would sell the idea of reading the book as a way to understanding why people would join the Mormons, in the face of the overwhelming, contradictory information on the Internet.

Memphis is a dangerous place to live. Stay out of the bad areas.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crime_in_Memphis,_Tennessee
Just a few miles south of Memphis is Southaven, Mississippi and Horn Lake, MS. These areas are thriving economically, and they are very safe. As you can imagine, many people work in Memphis, but live elsewhere.
You will never have to shovel snow in Memphis.

had another conversation with my wife this morning
by Crazyguy inshe was getting already for service so i asked her "how do you do it?
" "how do you still go and do all this spiritual stuff now that you know that my research and letter to bethel shows that the jw religion denies us the messiah"?
she got all defensive and disagreed again with what i wrote to bethel and then i had to step in and tell her that its "its them that teaches that we don't have a mediator in christ and were not under the new covenant".
