this morning i was in the office of a company that i do business with.
3 women were in the office and they all asked me how i was doing since i had major surgery last month.. i told them that i was recovering but it was kind of disappointing when i woke up in the recovery room instead of at the pearly gates.. one of the women said, "god must have more for you to do here.".
at which i replied, "yes, there are so many lost people who don't know jesus.".
Jesus is the not the Mediator for 99.9% of JWs.
Jesus is all about love, grace, forgiveness and heart condition.
Jehovah needs to see some works! JWs need to turn in field service reports.
If they work hard enough, they may even deserve some of Jehovah's undeserved kindness. Probably they may be concealed.

now if it is truly apostate,in the sense of being scripturally wrong then the wt has had 20 years or more to expose it,same as if it is factually wrong.. if it is neither, then the wt has had 20 or so years to put their house in order,so reading it now,dubs should say "oh yea we've changed that,so no worries".
so why can't they read it now?.

Crisis of Conscience, alone, was enough to convince me to leave. I did, however, go on to read dozens of books. However, the most damning things you'll ever read in print are the very words that Watchtower has published. No apostate book can touch what they've printed.

my mom has had to go to a number of doctor's visits that have at times kept her waiting for 4 hours.
many witnesses have responded to her needs by calling her and helping her out.

You are right. The Spiritual Materialism of the Paradise Earth concept is a powerful thing. It is flexible fantasy that can be twisted in any manner to soothe their minds when any fear or uncertainty confronts them.

how does the wts begin to excercise control over one's mind?
One of the greatest aspects of JW mind control is the very real threat of expulsion and shunning.
This is far more significant than excommunication, as practiced by various other churches. JW explusion and shunning is not merely being cut off from the church. It ends ties with friends and family, outside the sphere of church activities. For example, if Bob Roberts is excommunicated from the Catholic Church, Bob remains a full member of the Roberts family. However, if Brother Brown is disfellowshipped from the JWs, he will also cease (in all reality) to be a full member of the Brown family, if they are JWs. He will be treated worse than a convicted criminal or a stranger and he may even be treated as worse than dead.)
This threat of expulsion and shunning translates into spiritual and emotional blackmail, as the cult member believes his eternal salvation is linked to the organization. Moreover, his very social structure and loved family members are dangled before him as an inducement to remain in the cult. The impact this has on the mind of the cult member is hard to overestimate.
This is not a feature of most Christian denominations. It is unique to high-control, authoritarian groups and to destructive cults.
