Looking forward to the second part. I am so thankful that my boys don't have to live the off the wall way I did as a teenager. They are getting to experience normal, fun teenage things.

The effect of this religion on my children & the action I had to take - Part I
by jambon1 ini have been meaning to tell this story for some time now.
i feel that i would like to share it so that it may serve as a warning to anyone who thinks that the jw religion does not have a negative effect on children.. i have been out of the religion for 4 years now.
i wasn't brought up in the organisation.

Thanks for the replies. My husband is a very good man! He is a very hard worker and provides well for us financially. He is loyal to me and his boys. He's handsome . I work full-time too and he helps with the cooking and cleaning. He is a very good role model for our boys and positively involved in all aspects of their lives-school, sports, etc... I'm grateful to have him as my husband.
It hurts my heart that his mom puts all of this second to his 'spirituality'. He and I are faders and NEVER will return.
PS. Thanks for letting me brag about him.

This is the comment that my husband made to me this morning about his mom. I felt terrible for him. She is an UBER-JW!!! His childhood was very JW structured. It still affects him to this day-- it's hard to let go of things that were put in your head for over 30 years.
I don't know what to say to take away his sadness about this.

It's kind of like a kid who gets an A- on his math test and his parent wonders why it wasn't an A+.

J12-If it was as easy as just telling the truth to the elders, there would be no need for a board like this. Most of us don't want our families to shun us because we no longer want to attend the KH. What do you think would happen if you told someone you no longer wanted to attend? Do you really think the elders would just walk away quietly? Or that others in the congregation would understand and let you be? NO-within a short time, it would be all over the congregation what you said and others would immediately start the shunning-despite the fact that you were not DF'd. I've seen it happen.
bohm-I would let the elders contacting you know that you appreciate their concern but you will contact them if you need any 'encouragement/assistance. Best Wishes to you!

Yes, my husband did. He tried to kindly reason with me. He tried to go hard-core with the reasons it was wrong-by starting arguments with me about it. Finally, he just started to plant some seeds of doubt here and there. I resisted all of those attempts. Several years later, I did some research on my own and Damn-what a shocker I got!
Thank goodness I discovered the realities of the WTBS (WatchTowerBullShit). I am grateful my husband was patient with me(mostly) and the blinders I had on.
