UK posters - pedophile documentary tonight

this isn't in any way jw related, but will anyone be watching 'the hunt for britains pedophiles' which starts tonight?

from what i have heard about it, it supposed to be extremly shocking and disturbing, as the bbc got to shadow the scotland yard pedophile unit for two years and this documentary is the end result.

it is supposed to be no holds barred and designed to shock, but in an effort to make more people aware of how huge the issue is here in the uk.

From what I have heard about it, it supposed to be extremly shocking and disturbing, as the BBC got to shadow the Scotland Yard pedophile unit for two years and this documentary is the end result. It is supposed to be no holds barred and designed to shock, but in an effort to make more people aware of how huge the issue is here in the UK.

I will be watching it, but I have reservations about doing so, but I don't think its going to make for pleasant viewing.

Talking to the dead

as the borg hammered us into thinking that anyone who had contact with the dead were in fact speaking to the demons, however, now we know that a lot of their teachings are full of sh*t.. i lost my dad at the start of this year.

a couple of months later i bump into a close friend who has known dad for many years.. this guy was stoked that he was getting married and mentioned how it was a shame dad wasn't around for the wedding.. yesterday i called in to see him and he told me something that had happened to him.. he was talking to his sister, who lives in another town, and she is active in some spiritual group.

she said she had never met jack, my dad, but that she has been talking to him and that he had a message he wanted given to this friend, her brother.. dad wanted him to get out of this relationship fast.. he never took it seriously and carried on as usual.. not long after that, this fiancee of his smashed up his 4x4, was on a restricted drivers licence and spent the money he gave her for his hire purchases.. so, his truck is wrecked, he can't claim insurance to get it repaired, he still has to pay it off, a lot of his possessions have been repo-ed and that basically he is in sh*t street without a shovel.. do you think it was a message from my dad ??.

I am in two minds as to what I believe on this subject. I had a couple of experiences myself and although they were very puzzling, I never knew what to make of them because I suppose there is a big part of me that still has the JW 'Demons' theory stuck in my head.

There were two incidents which both centre on my daughter (now six years old)

Shortly after she was born I decided to buy her a musical mobile thing to hang over her cot. It had a clockwork mechanism so you just wound it up and it would play a tune and would rotate with all these little teddy bears hanging off it. It wasn't second hand, I bought it brand new from a shop.

Anyway, one night, a few days after I had bought it, I suddenly woke up in the middle of the night. You know how it is when you suddenly wake up and your heart is pounding. Anyway, for a few seconds I just lay there trying to work out what had woken me up then I heard my daughters mobile playing its tune from her cot on the other side of the bedroom. It kinda freaked me out a bit but I just assumed the mechanism had gotten stuck and it hadnt wound down properly. I thought no more of it and went back to sleep.

But then the same thing happened night after night. It went on for about a week. I kept trying to put it down to a dodgy mechanism but I don't see how it could have been. The weird thing was, the tune it played was on a loop, and when you wound it up, it would start playing from wherever it left off after it had previously wound down. So it would usually start and finish in the middle of the tune. And the tune would slow right down at the end as it was winding down.

But everytime it played during the night, it would start at the beginning of the tune and finish at the end of it. there was no slowing down, or starting up and finishing in the middle of the tune. it would just play the tune once from start to finish and then stop.

After messing around with it for days on end, trying to work it all out, I just couldn't come up with an explanation for it. It really did freak me out, some people said it was someone looking over my baby, my JW relatives decided my mobile was possesed by demons. I gave it away. The person I gave it too knew all about it but she never had any experiences like mine with it.

The second experience was when my daughter was about two years old. She was in bed asleep and I had the baby monitor on so I could keep an ear out for her if she woke up (which she tended to do alot).

I was on my own in the house with her and I was happily watching TV when I heard her wake up. She started to whinge a bit and I could hear her tossing and turning in her bed. Then she called out for me so I was just about to go upstairs to see her when I heard a male voice say 'It's alright sweetheart, just go back to sleep. sweet dreams.'

Well I almost died on the spot. I eventually plucked up the courage to go up and see her and she was fast asleep. There was obviously no one else in her room or in the rest of the house. I tried to rationalise that maybe it wasn't her at all that I heard, maybe I had picked up the sound of another child in a house close by as baby monitors can do that sometimes. But I know it was her, because she had called out to me and any mother knows their own childs voice.

So although I can't be sure, I do think maybe that someone was watching over her but I can't say that I am sure it was a dead relative or anything like that. I just don't know.

No, I would never have become a JW if I hadn't been raised as one. In fact, I used to sometimes wish I had been born into a non-JW family. When I still believed it all, I would wish that I had never known anything about JW's because then I wouldn't have had the knowledge that I had and the constant pressure to keep myself alive at Armaggedon.

I just wished I didn't know any of it, and when Armaggedon came, I would die but I wouldn't have spent my life living in fear. Always reminded me of the woman in 'Terminator' (can't remember her name) and how she knew what was going to happen in the future and she was pretty screwed up because of it.

What kind of music do you listen to?

i'm a music junkie, i like pretty much all types of music.

but in particular i would have to say jazz is my favorite, but not the watered down kenny g style of jazz.

i prefer the straight ahead, hard bop type of jazz.. lately i've been really getting into psychedelia rock.

Mike Musto! A fellow PSB fan??!?! They are quite hard to find these days! I was ALWAYS getting told off for listening to their music. And the huge poster on my bedroom wall didn't go down too well either. lol.

Whats the worst 'get-together' game you endured?

as a young teenager, we were always having get-togethers.... you know the spiritually upbuilding' kind ie.

bible quizzies, really boring stuff.

Whenever I went to a 'get together' that was organised by anyone under 30, you could be sure they would play the balloon game and the orange game.

The balloon game involved all standing in two lines and passing a balloon from one to the other using only your knees to hold the balloon. The orange one was even better, passing an orange along the line by holding it under your chin.

I don't think anyone cared which line passed their balloon/orange the fastest, the real race started when the game was announced and everyone would run around frantically trying to make sure they were standing next to the Bro/Sis that they fancied. The only way to get some bodily contact with the object of your affection and not get into trouble for it!

hi there everyone, i have posted a few times but after reading some life stories i decided to put mine on here in a condensed version.i don't know about anyone else but it helps me to read other peoples life stories, kind of validates that "hey, i'm not crazy, it was the org.

that was so warped.

" ok, here goes...i was raised catholic-12 years of parochial school and all only to find myself pregnant at 18 and being told by the monseniour(higher-up priest, really old guy)that it would be bettter for my child to be born a bastard(exact word used) than for me to marry the unbelieving father-he was a baptist.

Do you Remember the Moment you Stopped Being a JW?

My 'moment of truth' was one evening in May 1994. I had been back in the Org for a year after being DF'd and more than anything I remember the incredible loneliness. My best and only JW friend had left the Org 18 months earlier and she was my only ally.

I had tried SO hard. I had thrown myself into the cong and really tried hard to get some acceptance from the younger members (I was 19). The older ones were okay, I got on well with them but as for friends amongst my own age group - forget it. I went to all the 'gatherings' that I was invited to but I always felt like an outsider.

So anyway, I was sitting alone in my bedroom, as I did every night that wasn't a meeting night. I was just staring out of my bedroom window. At the back of my house was a house that had a flat roofed section. And on that roof were about 10 people around my age. They were having a barbecue. It was early summer and a really warm sunny evening and I just watched them for a couple of hours. I could hear them laughing and I could hear their music playing. They just seemed to be enjoying themselves so much, more than anything I wished I was one of them.

At that point it just suddenly dawned on me. I was never going to be like those people. I was never going to be relaxed amongst real friends. I would always be the outsider, trying to get them to like me for me, but never fitting in with them.

It was that night that I decided I was going to leave the Org. It took me six months to carry it out, alot of initial planning and working out what I was going to do once I left. I started looking for friends away from the Org, and lucky enough I found some. Those same people are still good friends today, one of them, being the best friend I ever had. She supported me and helped me 'escape'. It was only then that I realised I was worth something, there were people that liked me! I really thought that there was something wrong with me, so many 'young ones' in the Cong and none of them wanting much to do with me.

Even those last six months weren't so tough. I was working towards something, I had a goal and I was started to fill my life with things that weren't JW related. I grew more as a person in that six months than in all of my previous years alive.

On paper I stopped being a JW in November 1994 but I know I really stopped being a JW that night in May.

Amway and JW's

In my ex-cong there was a married couple who did the Amway thing. They spent HOURS (over many days and weeks) trying to recruit my JW parents. They were supposedly good friends of my parents but when my parents finally decided against getting involved, the friendship took a bit of a nose dive...

I don't know much about Amway personally but I did get involved with Kleeneze. (Don't know if it just a UK thing but it works on the same principle.)

I found it very similar to the whole JW setup. The people who got me involved suddenly became my bestest buddies in the world. Nothing was too much trouble. My upline agent told me that even if it didn't work out for me and I didn't stick with it, we would still remain friends because we got on so well. Two months into it I quit. I had put so much money into it (not just the initial outlay that they are open about, lots of other little charges that they failed to mention when I signed up) and I just couldn't afford to keep going with it. Needless to say I never heard from my dear upline friend ever again...

I saw her a couple of months later in a pub and she practically blanked me, it felt like being DF'd all over again! *shudders*!
