near the end of my marriage to a jw husband, choking me was his favorite form of recreation and my worst form of terror.
although i left 20 years ago, this article really shook me.
Sweet Jamie, it is so brave of you to tell your story. I never had to face anything like this while I was married but have heard from many friends about the abuse they put up with from dub husbands. I think the worst thing is that the elders don't believe you when you tell them. They just stick their heads in the sand and df you! That is so wrong. Glad you are here with us, I know you are doing better now, huh?

if someone recommends me to read anything other in italian language i will be very happy.. i was jw after ex jw and now are jw , have come back because my children and wife are jw and friends of my children are all wj.. so hard left all.

Are you going to meetings now? I stopped in 2005 right about this time before the memorial. No family that are jw's. That is different with you. Ray's book Crisis is wonderful. We all thank him for that.

i was methodist.
i was horrified when attending my first jw meeting and hearing the simple piano music over the speakers ... compared to the live orchestra performed at the methodist church.
Sacolton, I was also a Methodist. I can still remember writing the little church I went to as a child and asking them to take my name off their role book. Isn't that wild? Do you still believe in an Almighty? I do and I am trying hard to keep that.

The Fox & the Hound was lots of fun. 25 showed up many new ones for the first time so they got a real treat. They had 23 oz. beers. The pool tables were on fire. Made some new friends hope they come to the next ones, too. We must have a meet up at this place again. It was great! Still ready to take the trip LouBelle those leftovers sound so tasty!

knowing what you know now, are you embarrassed that you ever believed in the jehovah's witness religion?.
The whole package of paradise on earth, knowing what the outcome of the final war would be, the feeling you were serving a loving Father, the love bombing of the people when you are new...it really turns my stomach I can remember all of this when I think about it. I wish I had never gotten baptized. I had many doubts in the beginning but they would always talk me back into it. We felt like we were doing something special. I was so sucked in by the cult. Then, I was a hippie and wanted to find a place to fit in since it was all going away with people getting into the hard drugs and really losing it.

do you think we tend to get guilty easily because of our past indoctrination in the witness religion?.
I was never a Catholic but knew plenty that had became dubs. No one has guilt down as well as them. I don't have guilt about the things I do now that would be considered as sinful when a witless. Like I have said before I try to not hurt anyone with words or emotions and want them to respect me like that. If someone is guilty over something they need to get over it! Don't try to push it off on me.

ok so after complaining about my city's pathetic tradition of celebrating st. pat's day by mass alcohol poisoning, i thought i would try to find out some actual cultural things about ireland.
i tried the internet but almost everything i found was either pictures of green beer or drunk americans holding plastic shamrocks next to their green beer.
to paraphrase myself, it is so sad to boil an entire culture down to alcohol and tacky decorations.
Is it true the Guinness in Ireland tastes like chocolate? I heard this on TV.

Plant a seed of doubt if you can. Sometimes, it will take root. If it doesn't maybe in time they will see for themselves. I have no family that are dubs. I did have a few people I would like to see get out. They weren't ready.

house votes to require pledges .
the bill would make oaths to the state and u.s. flags a daily classroom event.. .
The pledge is a big thing down here in the south. We say it at political events for the Democratic Women's Club. It is no big deal to stand and say it for me. Don't remember saying it in school since the drugs I took during the sixties have made me loose some of my memories.
