we've seen this, or have heard of it..... a tragic death happens - often it's even caused by watchtower edicts, like shunning or "no blood" policy.... and the brainwashed - or brain-dead - witnesses resort to yammering watchtower propaganda - "at least he/she died before 'armageddon', so maybe he'll / she'll have a chance at being 'resurrected'...".

we've all seen the insane level of hypocrisy within the watchtower society... i've several examples in mind, wherein the witness parent shunned a witness child, leading to the child's suicide or indirectly to his/her death, and then the witness - make that witless - parent stands there at the funeral mouthing that "at least he/she died before 'armageddon', so maybe he'll / she'll have a chance at being 'resurrected'..." line of b.s.

..... what can one say to block that self-congratulatory blather??

I usually say something like, "Well I was sure hoping he/she would be able to hold on until Armaggedon hit, so they could see all the dead bodies everywhere and the birds of heaven coming down to feast on their flesh and pick out their eyeballs. And get a whiff of all that stench of all those decaying bodies after a few days. I guess they won't get to enjoy that part like us now though huh?"

After saying this they usually back away real slow like, thinking that I enjoy that kind of carnage or something. But then I remind them, I didn't write it. So don't blame me for repeating it. It's in the bible.

anyways i think the last time i been on here i mentioned my jw sister not going to my wedding.

for those that do remember my story, the wedding was beautiful on the beach in key west, fl!

Alot has Changed and I'm going BACK

When I first read that title, I had to double check my calendar and make sure it wasn't April 1.

I kept waiting on someone to say "APRILS FOOLS". Then reality set in that this is September.

I can only assume from the title then, when you say a lot has changed, you are meaning with you and not the WT Organization.

Because last I checked they are still shunning people, talking about the end is so very close, that they are God's one true organization, making things up..such as the definition of the word "generation" etc. etc.

But if I'm wrong and you are referring to the Org. has changed,would you mind listing some of the things that have changed that I may not be aware of?

Oh and by the way, congratulations on the pregnancy. That is indeed a big change. Wishing and hoping you the best on the little one. :)

EXACTLY.....The issue isn't that God wants us to suffer

The ISSUE is that God supposedly has all this power(Omnipotent) and all this Knowledge(Omniscient) and still hasn't stepped in to end all this suffering. Yet he will take time out of his busy schedule to talk to just a few people on earth either with a vision, a whisper,a dream, a prophecy, etc. in the same amount of time it would have taken him to talk to everyone around the world at one time. Talk about inefficiency.

What if God was held to the same standards we are suppose to adhere to?

Such as James 2:15-17 [NWT]

"If a brother or a sister is in a naked state and lacking the food sufficient for the day, yet a certain one of YOU says to them: “Go in peace, keep warm and well fed,” but YOU do not give them the necessities for [their] body, of what benefit is it? Thus, too, faith, if it does not have works, is dead in itself.

So God can feed and cloth every single person on this mudball planet, and it should be well within his power and yet he chooses to not do so at this time. I wonder how far we would get if we tried that same reasoning for not helping someone such as ...well you know the time just wasn't right for me to step in so they had to starve to death. But I woulda helped them next week on my schedule if they coulda just hung on a bit longer.

Edited to add this Scripture also:

1 John 3:17,18[NWT] But whoever has this world’s means for supporting life and beholds his brother having need and yet shuts the door of his tender compassions upon him, in what way does the love of God remain in him? Little children, let us love, neither in word nor with the tongue, but in deed and truth"

So thats how I view it right now. I don't want to hear about God's Love(mere words), I want to see it in action....like feed the starving in Africa..heck even here in the U.S.A. or keep the ones safe that get hit by a Earthquake,Tornado,etc..

But I know how it usually goes...someone going to say oh but this is God's way of allowing us to help all those in need and be like him. what if we don't make it in time. I think God should step in on those occasions and keep people from dying..Just my 2 cents worth..

Got a visit from door-to-door JW's!

today while i was home for a quick lunch break i got a knock at the door.

i opened the door and was surprised to see two elderly jehovah's witnesses women.

i haven't been called on since i've been out for four years, so this was a bit of surprise.

LOL...that's priceless.

Most witnesses spend all day out in field service hoping to get to talk to at least one person.

Here's a situation where they find someone wanting to talk to them and they run. I love it. hahaha

i had started studying with jw because i was curious about the religion because my bf then(now husband) was a witness.

i am a very open minded person and really had i known what i know now i prob would not have been baptized.

i always had my doubts but i really enjoyed the positive aspects that i was learning at the meetings...i studied with my mom in law.i prob shouldn't have done that because she has taken it very personal that we have stopped and even had the nerve to say i started studying to get in good with the fam!!

So many times it's just one that sees the "light" and gets out while the other stays enslaved.

Keep searching for truth and not what some person tells you is the "truth". But rather what you can prove to yourself.

sure i get frustrated when i have to explain for the bajillionth time just why atheism is not a belief or why it is possible to know some things with 100% certainty but despite all the exasperations i still count it as one of the rewards of freeing my mind and exiting the wt that i can argue so endlessly and freely.. even if some of you do get on my tits sometimes .

So once again this begs the question, is it a free gift the Christ offers or something you work for? Anything you work for is a wage or earnings.

If I agree to pay someone $50 to mow my lawn, then after they get done working on it I bring them their $50 and say here is your money,consider it a gift, how you suppose they will take that?

The work "out my salvation" thing sure sounds a lot like what the JW's think they're doing.

A gift is something you give to others with no strings attached. As soon as you attach any preconditions to receiving something it is no longer a gift but moves into a earnings/works category.

Anyways I don't want to hi-jack this thread but just saw that an wanted to make an observation.

But back on track of the Topic at hand I usually always enjoy the dicussions on faith(belief) and reason.

Love to hear others viewpoints (both sides) and almost always see something said/discussed that prompts me to go look something up.

And even tho we may have heard these discussions many times, there is a lot of news ones joining that haven't, so it may make them feel like it did us on our first times to acknowledge that there is some merit on both sides.

if you're the kind of person who would rather convince yourself that someone isn't "deserving" of your help... which may include your money... even an amount as small as $3.00... the wtbts was the right group to be a part of.

because they have every excuse under the sun for not giving to the poor... not helping out someone in need... not even giving a hungry one a meal (because we know, don't we, that every one of them is an alcoholic and/or drug addict... and everyone knows... particularly the wtbts... that those folks... those sinners... don't deserve to eat at all...).

looks like some of have learned well from them.

Voices...maybe you're right. Maybe its just an observation.

I wonder tho..if you went out on the street tonight and told one person they had a beautiful heart...and another person they had a dark heart, what would happen.

Anyways i'm off of here for tonight. I haven't been on here in days, and probably shoulda just skipped tonight.

But I hope you all help as many people as you can , anyway you can, in the way you see fit.

After all it's your time and your money so use it the way you like.
