Hi, I'm new
by Diva inhi, this is my first post but ive been lurking around this discussion board for some time now.
my husband (the borg) occasionally posts and i had the pleasure of meeting some great people at the apostofest in covent garden, london last year arranged by bestie and sweetpea , hi to you both and hi to freetothink, mr majestic and everyone that was there hope youre all ok.. my story in a nutshell: raised a jw from birth, my whole family, expect one brother and sister (disfellowshipped) are still jws - basically i was raised in a family who were considered one of the pillars of the congregation, we all pioneered and did the whole witness thing, in fact one of my sisters is a missionary.
my whole jw world crumbled when i learnt about the jw/un connection and from that moment on there was no turning back.

The drama was about me!
by Kosonen ini was today at the assembly and the drama was inspired by my story.
i was pictured as the former elder who influences badly on the congregation by saing "now when it has been so widely preached in our territory it is time to concentrate on helping poor people.
then back to sweden to the russian group where i was about 7 years.

Since this years Drama had some made up names that didn't appear in the bible such as Scolios I was wondering if you could add into next years Drama some names that would appeal to the ones down here in the deep south of the U.S.A.
A few names that spring to mind are like Bubba (literally every family in south has at least one with this name) also Billy-Bob, Barbie-Sue, Rosco, Ellie-May, Jeffro just to name a few.
Thanks for your kind consideration to this.
Your loving brother,

How can you have a 70's Thread and not include the Bee gee's.
Remember Saturday Night Fever.
Another of my favorites because i liked ballads and the softer rock coming out at the time was the group Bread.
Also John Denver,Ambrosia,CCR,Fifth Dimension.
As far as the just pure good time rock can't beat the Rolling Stones. -

Thanks to each and everyone of you
by StoneWall inafter many months of lurking and researching on oh so many different topics, doubts, concerns, and viewpoints i decided to get my feet wet and start posting.
many times i wished to contribute something to a thread but was to apprehensive to get an account.
then as time passed and i read many more of the post from various members the uneasiness subsided somewhat and my desire to proceed into previously uncharted waters grew.

ibeme,
I hope to be meeting up with a few more from N.C. that post on here in next couple of weeks. Maybe you can join us sometime.
From the ones I've talked to on here it seems there a lot of us scattered all over N.C. so it shouldn't be to hard to have some good meet-up locations.

Is this normal???
by amama2six ini joined a few days ago thinking "hey, maybe i will find people that i have something in common with!
" i did not come here expecting what has happened to me.
i am reading experiences and doctrine and suddenly getting very angry and confused.

I wouldn't say that its abnormal
Seems like what Baba is saying may be true right now with you that you are starting to face some things that you had either suppressed or just buried and thought you wouldn't ever need to dig them up again.
Then something clicked that brought them up to the surface again and to the forefront and as has been stated now you can face them with confidence and with more knowledge than before.
Seems like your psyche is ready to take them on and going to allow you to proceed to overcome them instead of just burying them.
Or at least that is my viewpoint from my perspective. If this is the case then be ready for a gutsy ride of learning about yourself and your inner most feelings about your thoughts/beliefs/views and even your own self-perception.
Enjoy the ride,

Best JW tall story/variations of it?
by KW13 indont just list one, list them all so we can laugh because in all honesty i can't believe we believed some of them.
for example, i was told annie lennox stopped a concert to ask if there was any jw's in the audience, and if there was could they leave as they were stopping the demons getting through...is this even remotely true?
did annie lennox ask the jw's in the audience to move because they were stopping the snack lady getting through...and it got twisted through chinese whispers.... the other day (i felt sick) one witness was banging on about how amazing it was that the watchtower society's building was the only one standing still...wtf...my stepdad responded with a 'wow thats amazing' and the first brother was like 'yeah i know'...grrrrrrrrr aaaaaaaah screaaaaaaaaam .

Not feeling it,
Unless this happened to some others (which I guess ain't out of the realm of possiblity but which I find highly unlikely) and the CO was referencing the call that happened down here then he got some of his facts wrong.
The householder did not get baptised and to my knowledge never became even a return visit. But she did ask them if they had seen her dog.
A part of me to this day believes she knew they had did something to her dog and was giving them a chance to see if they would be truthful. The subject was quickly changed without directly lying to the woman. I guess you can call it Theocratic Warfare(thinking she was not entitled to the knowledge about her dog).
The kick was not meant to kill the dog just to get it to leave them alone because it was biting at them just above the shoe height since it was such a small dog.
The other brother and sister in the car group saw him reach down and pick something up but thought it was just were he might had dropped either his bible or some publications and was putting them back in his bookbag.
But he actually was picking the dog up and stuffing it in his case. It was talked about for the longest time down here in field service by the ones who knew what had happened. I personally wasn't in the car group but heard about it from my best friend who was at the door when it happened. And I am not joking at all about this. -

OMG Amama
I know the two brothers that happened to. It really happened and they panicked and shoved it into their bookbag. I live in the territory right now that it happened in.
We were laughing about this just a few weeks ago over on the lake when some of my friends brought it up. It was just a little over 20 years ago cause my friend that was with the elder at the door was 20 something then and he is 44 yrs old now. That is so wild that you heard about it all way up in Va. I will have to tell him about this. He will get a kick out of it. (hopefully not a kick like they gave the dog, but a funny kick)

Best way to divide up the donations/offerings
by StoneWall inthree religious leaders were discussing who had the best method for dividing the collections/offerings.. .
the first one was a baptist preacher and he looked at the other two and said well here is how i do it.
i take and make a line down the center of a round table and toss all the donations on it all at once and what goes on the left of the line i keep and what goes on the right side goes to god.. .

The first one was a baptist preacher and he looked at the other two and said well here is how I do it. I take and make a line down the center of a round table and toss all the donations on it all at once and what goes on the left of the line I keep and what goes on the right side goes to God.
Next was the Methodist preachers turn and so he told them how he did the donations. I take and convert all the donations into silver dollar coins and then flip them onto the table one at a time and what lands on heads belongs to God and what lands on tails belongs to me.
Finally it was the Jewish Rabbis turn. So he looks at the other two and says well here is how I do it.
I take all the money from the treasury and throw it all up in the air and what God catches he keeps and what I catch I keep.
