At 1 Corinthians 11:26 it states: "For as often as you eat this loaf and drink this cup, you keep proclaiming the
death of the Lord, until he arrives." [NWT]
Didn't he arrive in 1914?
So doesn't it say to do this till he arrives? not after?
good excuses.

for the sake of less argument whether you're a believer or non-believer lets just for the moment say we can.
take the bible as it is in current form at face value.. i'm just going to cite a few examples of bible stories of god appearing and if we had been alive back then it.
shoulda been proof to all of his existence.. 1) leading the israelites out of egypt as a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire at night.. 2) the waters of the sea miracously parting and allowing the israelites to go thru on dry land.

1) leading the Israelites out of Egypt as a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire at night.
2) the waters of the sea miracously parting and allowing the Israelites to go thru on dry land. Then crashing in on Pharoah
and his army later on.
3) Jesus baptism when God's voice declared him to be his son.
4) Adam and Eve evidently talking to God in the Garden even after they had sinned.
And you may have others you could add to this list but those are mine for now.
My question is this. If God can appear and have dialogue with all those from times past and theywere in a sinful state
except Jesus, why can he not appear now and talk to sinners and convince them of his existence?
Where in the Bible does it specifically say he can no longer do this? And yes I'm familier with the he has set a date in
which he intends to judge the inhabitants of the Earth and etc.etc.
Why was it Ok for him to appear to those people back then to convince them that he was and is and yet its
a no-no for us today?
Would it not be more simpler and logical to do as Jesus said and let your yes mean yes and your No mean No?
In other words Yes I exist here I am , stop wasting time in needless arguements over my existence.
Follow me (God) and receive the blessing or don't follow me and receive the malediction (Deuteronomy 11:26-28)
I can't imagine any parents on earth today hiding their existence from their children and then getting mad at their
children for not finding them.
Anyhow just curious how you approached this and even if you no longer believe, what did you tell
yourself back when you did as far as why He don't feel a need to appear any more?

murray, ky. emaciated horses eating bark off trees.
abandoned horses tied to telephone poles.
I guess my position would be slightly above its head maybe standing on a deck or patio with a high caliber rifle.
My preferred method would be to coax it to my Guillotine with a handfull of oats and various grains and have
it extend its head and neck thru.
But the more I thought about that I realized my Guillotine not heavy duty enough to cut thru a horses neck
without damaging it. It would take a much more improved one than mine to cut thru all that bone and muscle
tissue in a large horses neck. Maybe by next year I'll build a more versatile one but strapped on time right now.
got to say i went to this movie cause wife wanted to see it at big screen.
(i was just going to wait till it came out on disc).
i kinda went into it with kinda low expectations because i really haven't heard much about it.. needless to say i was pleasantly surprised to say the least.
Rebel8 I have to agree that most of Nicolas Cages' movies I've really enjoyed. He has a style and flair all his on.
NeonMadMan not sure about the Mormon imagery in the movie. Nothing sticks out in my mind at the moment as
far as relating strictly to the Mormons in the film but I coulda missed something.
i am happy to say, megan my wife is pregnant with twins!
two girls .
.
OMG!!! You gave your wife peter poisoning..
Tell her not to panic. That in about 9 months the swelling will go down.
Tell her that a lot of places now are having a 2 for one deal so it won't be to bad on the clothes and eats.
Just joking with ya man! I'm really happy for you and your wife.
A big CONGRATS to you both
Hoping you the best,

when people are super bubbly/friendly/cheery, or constantly smiling ear-to-ear when the situation doesn't call for it, i immediately suspect they are either phonies, trying to sell me something, or suffering from bipolar mania.
that is not really very fair of me, but that's what springs to mind.. i hate nervous giggling too.
it completely grates on my nerves.
As far as bubbly personalities go the one that comes to my mind is our former captain of the cheerleading team in
high school. She was a blonde headed blue eyed bundle of joy and smiled almost all the time.
I still remember the day me and some buddies walked by the girls locker room and the door was open and she was
changing clothes. It was like instantaneously all of us guys became bubbly and smiles broke out on all our faces
from ear to ear. Some of the guys that I knew didn't believe in God started shouting stuff like "Oh my God", "God bless
America" and "Holy mother of Jesus". It was kinda like our roles had reversed, all of us was bubbly and started cheering
Needless to say it was very hard to fall to sleep that night.
mine goes back to may of 1955.. i was 17 months old.. my mother went into labor with the last of her 13 children, and i remember pitching a fit because the midwife wouldn't let me into her room.. how about you?.
sylvia.
I remember being a spongy like egg and telling my brother and sisters as they passed by me in the tube
not to wait up on me and I'll be with them in a few years
i became a member of this site at 20. i was baptized at 14 but by 16 i realized that the jw religion was anything but the truth and i made it my perogative to seek out ansewrs.
the internet can be a dangerous thing, the society always warns and i soon began to understand their fear against it.
after stumbling on many anti-witness sites like this one i was able to breath a sigh of relief and and realize "ok, i'm not crazy or going to burn in armageddon for feeling this way.
Hi StillA !
Nice that things are going great for ya. It's always good to hear from others about how they are going on with life
post JW.
I can't really speak for others but in my area we have quite a lot of faders/slackers/irregular KH attenders. So we
just get together especially in the spring and summer months go to the lake, movies, biking, hiking etc. and have fun.
No one downing you about missing meetings and yet understanding where you are coming from is oh so nice.
When you say that you are so far in the city, I'm assuming you are referring to Hotlanta since your avatar
list Georgia below it. We've been as a group many times to Six Flags down there in Hotlanta and also to the many
malls down there. (our wives and girl friends always make sure we hit usually at least one mall, while the guys
make sure we hit at least one Hooters or similar bar/restaurant so our better halves have a good reason to shop
while we drink hee hee)

Needless to say I was pleasantly surprised to say the least. Don't want to give too much away for those who maybe
going to see it but there is something in it for believers as well as atheist and agnostics.
When I saw the ending I couldn't shake the feeling that a JW or former JW mighta had a hand in it.
Some of the best special effects in a movie(seemingly believable) happen at the plane crash and the subway incident.
Keep your eyes on the people around both of these events. Don't blink or turn your head away when these two things
occur.
Its hard to imagine that people didn't get hurt in real life filming those two events.
Anyhow will stop with that so I don't give to much away but the previews of the other movies coming up already got
me looking forward to X-Men Origins and the new Star Trek movie. Both of those looked good too from what I saw.
Hoping all of you are doing well and enjoying life.

thought i'd share this article from a newspaper not far from my area.. here is the link asheville,nc news people.
found it interesting that she had her nightly gin and tonic and always liked to exercise even before it became popular.. the things that take away the daily stesses of life seem to really add length of days.. i personally know of a few 90+ still going strong and the common denominator seems to be their daily/nightly drink.
as well as staying active in some form or fashion.. kinda makes me think of the first part of the scripture in psalms 104:15 "and wine that makes the heart of mortal man rejoice..." [nwt].
Hmm I'm still having probs getting the links to be clickable so if someone can make that link clickable I'd be much appreciative
