I hope you are right but it might be traumatic for them to be raised by a total stranger. Although the alternative can't be much better.

I don't know how strict of a JW she is but hopefully she will let them be as normal as possible.....if that's possible.

Yes, I still feel cheated for having missed all those activities Outlaw mentioned when I was a child. I will add to that list high school sports, dances, dating (without marriage in mind). I am glad to hear that some had parents that did special things for them and had special days so they dind't feel deprived but for most of us I'm sure we just went without. I always dreaded going back to school after Christmas break and hearing all the kids talk about what they got for Christmas. Made me feel like crap. I do take pleasure in knowing that I didn't raise my son in that cult and he got to do all the things I didn't. I made SURE of that!

When is it time to say goodbye?
by PEC inour cat carmel has been sick for over a month.
she started puking every morning and about a week later, on barbara's birthday, she puked five time before 8:00 am.
we canceled our plans and took her to the vet, he ran a bunch of tests and sold us some medicine for the puking.

PEC,
I used to work at a vet clinic and the $2 a can food your vet recommended is a special food that won't make the pancreatitis worse. I'm sorry but you probably made things worse by changing the food back to something else. I can't imagine balking at $2 a can in order to save my cat. You probably cost yourself MORE money by taking her to another vet and having the same tests run all over again. Harsh but true. Hope your cat gets better.

Whale Wars? Piracy or not?
by Brocephus inok, i am hooked and the new season starts tonight.
plus the show looks great on my new hdtv.
here is my question:.
-
fern
I was hooked on the show last season but was not happy about how the ships captain faked being shot by the Japanese whaling ship. I don't know wether it's piracy or not but my opinion of these people is now the same one I have for members of PETA. They have good intentions but the way they go about things makes their cause more of a joke than anything else. They are just a little bit too crazy for my tastes.

Does the WTS say Facebook is a bad thing?
by lavendar in.
do the elders try to advise members against using facebook for some reason??
curious......
-
fern
megaflower-I know this is slightly off topic but I wonder if the elders get on the obese and lazy people about their gluttony as much as they get on your husband for running? At least he's staying healthy! After all, gluttony is a sin! As far as facebook goes, I'm SURE it is frowned upon.

why do some rant/obsess like us? good question! I think the answer for many of us is because we are PISSED OFF! This cult has farther reaching than I could have ever imagined. I've been out for 22 years now and I'm still angry about the normal childhood that was robbed from me. I have found it increasingly hard not to tell my mother exactly how I feel about her beloved "truth". I just keep my mouth shut to keep the peace.

Horse Racing and Doping
by PEC insome say the race horses are treated better the humans.
some may be, others are being injected with cobra venom.

It is used as a pain killer. It isn't given in amounts large enough to kill or even make the horse sick. that being said, I do agree that there are better things to use for pain. The substance is banned almost everywhere and anyone caught with it faces stiff penalties.

Kentucky Derby
by purplesofa indid any of you watch the kentucky derby yesterday?.
yesterday i watched the kentucky derby, i am not a horse racing fan, although i do enjoy going to the races.
we have a nice track here about an hours drive from me.. but all the hype about it being the best sporting event, me being an indy race fan, thinking that is the greatest sporting event!!!!

That was an awesome race for Mine that bird. I don't think many people saw that one coming! Now, here are some facts for those badmouthing horse racing. Eight Belles is the filly that broke down just after the Derby last year. She was being slowed down by her jockey after her brilliant second place finish and she stumbled, breaking an ankle. She then broke the other one when she tried to catch herself. This is an extremely rare occurance and anyone in the business will probably tell you they have never seen an injury like that before. Freak accident...pure and simple. Also, most times when a horse breaks a leg, it HAS to be euthanized. Unlike some animals, horses simply cannot support their weight on three legs because it causes inflamation in the remaining legs that is extremely painful. It is called laminitis. Remember Barbaro in 2006? Lastly, these thoroughbreds are treated VERY well but all we ever hear about are the horror stories that are really not common at all. The owners typically pay big money for these horses and if the do well in racing are worth even more as stallions or brood mares. Beleive me, they DO live better than many humans. Check out the Three Chimneys Farm website and see just how nice these farms are. You can practicly eat off the barn floors! Now stop believing all the hype and don't badmouth a sport you know nothing about!!

Did people with those signs outside the assemblies and meetings strengthen or weaken your beliefs?

For me, they didn't influence me one way or the other but they did scare the hell out of me. As much as I think the JW religion is BS, I would never participate in something like that. IMO it is counter-productive.
