  Question for Atheists.. Did you gain a Greater Sense of Morality and Happiness?

  i've heard some view points that state, atheists are generally more moral & caring for fellow humans, than are theists.. i'd like to hear some personal stories of life changes and quality of life after you became atheist.

  i have a simple theory that may explain this.. i'll explain my theory if you'd like, after a few responses, as i really am interested in the personal changes that you experienced.. thank you very much, and i look forward to your stories..

  It's a little more complicated, but the short answer is yes.

  Morality is doing what is right no matter what you are told to do. Religion is doing what you are told to do no matter what is right.

  Remember that morals are a socio-cultural evolution that changes in time. Moralities are sets of self-perpetuating and ideologically-driven behaviors.

  Sadly, I don't have any particular experience to share.

  Happiness are these bits and pieces of moments you have or share. No one is happy all the time.

  The problems Bible believers have with Atheists is the burden of proof is on the Believer and we just do not have enough proof.

  i recently posted a post telling this board my athesit coworker stumped me with questions about the validity of the ark story and i just cannot stop talking to her.

  i love hearing her side and point of view which in the past i would have dismissed as "satanic" thinking.

  she has some very good questions and i am having a hard time answering them.

  Keep researching. I am glad you bring this example. Deer belong to a group of animals called ruminants, which have a special organ called a rumen for digesting tough plants. Yet given the opportunity, herbivores will eat meat. As a matter of fact most herbivores are "opportunistic carnivores". Herbivores don't eat grass all the time because they like it. They have evolved lacking the tools to be hunters (read fangs, camouflage, teeth etc).

  So don't feel to bad, given the opportunity, Bambi will have Kamba for lunch any day of the week.

  Prying Mantis (insect) eat Hummingbirds (bird) and Millipedes (insect) eat some spices of Bats (mammal).

  Survival of the fitted.

  Every attempt to prove that humans have some kind of "sixth sense" shows it to be complete BS. But we have all sorts of "extra" senses that we either never use or don't notice when we do.

  Religious propaganda is invaluable at teaching two timeless lessons: Your religious leaders thinks you’re stupid (and some are), and when faced with unreasonable expectations, some people will lose their mind in hilarious ways.

  They are a delusional bunch full of crap. I really know that one is one to many, but "terrible persecution" is disrespectful to all the Jews, Gypsies, Slavs, communists, homosexuals, the mentally, physically disabled and members of other groups that were targeted and methodically murdered in the largest genocide of the 20th century.

  The family on the left picture look Latina. The lady on the left picture looks like Verónica Castro in the 1980's (she is Mexican). The girl looks like Angélica Vale in the 1980's (also Mexican). The guy look Michael DeLorenzo in the 1980's (he is 1/2 Puerto Rican).

  i hear it all the time.. people who decide it isn't the truth and leave are said to deep down know they're leaving the truth, choosing instead whatever ideology suits their imperfect desires.

  in the new dvd the little kid asks why people believe in evolution and the dad basically says people believe whatever they want.

  the actual issue is never actually addresed though: "did life evolve?

  Belief in belief is the notion that religious belief has positive benefits and should be fostered or tolerated, without the need to subscribe to the belief in question. This is commonly expressed in cases where people feel that religious belief brings comfort and moral guidance.

  If you are not accepting real life, you are in fact living in a fantasy. The question remains, for every parent who has to tell a child they have lost a pet, should I lie and say they are at a farm, or explain life and death and face their pain. Is the avoidance of pain worth the disinformation?

  Religious views come with an ugly side, which must equally be acknowledged. Consider the case on an individual who is convinced that their relatives or friends will spend an eternity burning in hell because they hold to the "wrong" religion.
  And just as religion can be used to motivate for good, it can be used to motivate people to go to war, slay neighbors, or impede various classes of people from access to equality.

  Single women with 3 kids returning to the meetings....

  i was talking with a still in relative today who mentioned how they had this sister with 3 or 4 kids over recently.

  they said she is returning ot meetings and coming back into the truth, etc.

  i remember when i was still in, the only ones i ever saw trying to return were generally the single moms with lots of baggage.
