  This is the Information Age.

  Theists often claim that their gods are perfect beings; they describe gods, however, in contradictory and incoherent ways. Numerous characteristics are attributed to their gods, some of which are impossible and some combinations of which are impossible.

  As described, it's unlikely or impossible for these gods to exist. Why Christianity and not Judaism? Why Islam and not Hinduism? Why monotheism and not polytheism? Every position has had its defenders, all as ardent as those in other traditions. They can't all be right, but they can all be wrong.

  Most people are skeptics, education and the internet are going to eradicate all myths.

  The reason the Society keeps everyone busy with "campaigns"

  im sure that many have had an experience where we try and keep little kids "occupied" while on a boring trip, such as a car ride or plane flight.. we come up with "games" like..."lets see how many green cars we can count", or "lets try and see who can sit still for the longest time".

  "the winner gets a prize!".

  obviously, until they are wise enough to cotton on, all we are doing is keeping them occupied to prevent them asking things like "are we there yet?!".

  Of course they are real.

  Prophecy and magic/spirits are well documented in Middle-earth and Hogwarts.

  As for voodoo, Voodoo Child (Slight Return) is one of my favorites songs/documentary.

  i use the word clinging, as i feel that is what i am doing.

  as far as my knowledge of science, namely chemistry is concerned, i am satisfied there is evidence of a creator.

  i am happy to believe this.

  I like that you are willing to change your POV if enough evidence is provide. Remember that those opinions could be based in bad information.

  If you spread that "bad information" with knowledge that it didn't withstood criticism, analysis and questioning, you could be misleading you and others. Eventually, Intellectual Dishonesty can and will harm you and others.

  Don't you think these two statements are in contradiction? Do you really have compelling evidence that justified a "creator"?

  The Lord placed two types of people on this, His only planet that matters:

  (1) Those who critically analyze and evaluate all available information, making decisions, including those involving their belief systems, based on thought, facts and reason; and

  (2) Folks who have been blessedly spared such tedium.

  Any scientific theory must be based on a careful and rational examination of the facts. In the scientific method, there is a clear distinction between facts, which can be observed and/or measured, and theories, which are scientists’ explanations and interpretations of the facts.

  Scientists can have various interpretations of the outcomes of experiments and observations, but the facts, which are the cornerstone of the scientific method, do not change.

  in other words, you can't observed something that took millions of years in a lifetime.

  look...i am not an atheist.

  even so, i have never had one prayer answered my entire life.

  the only thing that would even come close was learning ttatt.

  Beside the times I prayed to find my car keys, No Never.

  It's called selective observation, where a believer counts the hits and discounts the misses. List the specific prayers you pray. Keep in mind that you generally will only pray for things which you expect can happen too. You do not pray that a mountain is uprooted and planted in the sea. So already your prayer requests are limited and already you do not pray for the kinds of things Jesus told you could happen because you live in a scientific era.

  Then be brutally honest with the results. No fudging like horoscope readers regularly do. Was the prayer answered exactly as you prayed it? No punting to what believers around the globe do, either. No saying, well God knows best, or that he didn't give me what I wanted but what I needed. Then see what happens. Then see how many times prayers are answered.

  Short list: Never

  I prayed for twenty years but received no answer until I prayed with my legs.
