PAGAN.....and other JW Curse Words....
by homeschool ini remember working at a banquet hall/resturant, and it was just around the time when the jw teachings/actions weren't sitting well with me.
but my mind was still very much a jw.
a lady, whom i clicked with & whom i'd hung out with a few times, came up to me one day and said "homeschool, there's a couple things i wanted to tell you.

by ptucker8357 inok, so now, i think the initial shock of all this is wearing off and anger is replacing it.... today makes 5 weeks... 5 weeks since i had a study with my "study conductor" and 5 weeks since i have not heard the sound of his voice... this person was someone who espoused integrity, love, brotherhood, justice, compassion, and on and on... i was told that central to the jw religion was the ministry.... the ministry comes first, everything else second... having bible studies was integral... and since we lost our jobs, it appears no longer convenient to have a study, so i am dropped like a lead balloon.... i am mad for two reasons: for 4 years, this guy to be my friend... he worked directly for me and it's clear now that he did this to his own advantage.
why would you not be friends with the boss... i favored him in most situations... a very bad thing to do in business but apparently i was too naive to see it... he saw the opening and he took advantage of it... shoot man, how stupid could i be.... second reason is the study... we would so it at the beginning of the day at work or at the end when no one was around.
again an easy an convenienet way to get your field service requirement completed... now that the convenience is gone and i maybe haven't progressed as far as they would like, i am history... what is up with that.... some advice please... there is no way to get to this person... he no longer has a phone and he will not answer his email... i need to close this off somehow... should i send a letter or something to get this off my chest and let him know how under-handed i think this has been... maybe writing it down and sending it off would alleviate some of this anger?

" he no longer had a phone and he will not answer his email."
He worked for you? Did you personally lay him of tucker? Is there a chance that he is bent outta shape or something? Your right though, it was an awfully good position for him to be in for the time being. It could be that the elders in the hall might have said something to him even.
I assume you live in his proximity? Perhaps write him a letter and hand deliver it, while looking him square in the eye? Make him promise to read it too as it may be harder for him to discard it that way.
If you do it write a letter...keep the beginning of it non hostile. For all the things you have read here that you know about, just take one or two points and let those sit in him. If you give him too many points to think about, he may forget them all - cause really HE WANTS to forget what you say. Keep it simple.
You have every right to fight bud, and you should. Do it strategically though, perhaps one day he may thank you...
Best of luck.

"Cleaning up the Organization"
I have said it tons, but when it comes down to actually explaining it, I'm searching for words.
Yknott touched on it with "Getting rid of anyone who isn't in unity with the Bible truths as taught by Jehovah's Witnesses" , but I think it can be elaborated on a bit more.
"Cleaning up" is the important part. It could be applied to the organization, a congregation, or even a group of individuals.
Essentially, I think it would be filtering out people that conform the least to what the Watchtower teaches. If a Witness has some "wordly traits", but doesn't do anything to get disfellowshipped, there is something "different" about them in the eyes of a JW. They will get various titles too. "spiritually weak" etc etc.
For example, if there was someone who was told they had to leave the Bethel due to the downsizing. If that person was "spiritually strong" in many ways, but had a tendancy to gossip, it may be viwed as "cleaning up" the Bethel, by them not being there to gossip with other brothers and sisters. It would make the Bethel "stronger" by not having that influence there.
something like that....I hope that helps.

My husband's 1st birthday party....he's 25
by homeschool inok, i am seriously on the verge of crying, but i think i'll be ok. my first emotion is being totally pissed off, but the root is sadness.
i threw my husband his first birthday party, a surprise at that.. it's his first ever birthday party, and it was his 25th....a biggie.
so why the f&*% didnt people show?

Sorry bout the bad run Homeschool...Its good you feel better after sleeping on it.
10 people still showed and thats awsome! I totally understand where your coming from though, after all it is his first birthday party. Lots of "worldly" people are often unable to grasp the concept of how important something like this actually is.
Sooooooo, what did ya get your man? How late did it go? Did everyone drink a little too much? Cake. Did you make it? (lol) What did all 12 of you get up to?
In hindsight, perhaps it was a good thing many of those other peeps never showed....it's nice to be able to filter out your freinds sometimes. As much as it may hurt, it's nice to know where you stand.

Aiding Ex-Bethelites to Settle Down- Any Helpful Ideas?
by Scott77 inalot of recent posts have admireably focused on the plight of ex-bethelites kicked out to the curb without adequate educational, economical and financial support from the wts.
admitedly, many have spent a sizeable portion of their lives serving this selfish organisation until they were shocked with a one way ticket.
my questions are: what are ideas to help them achieve a 'soft landing' outside the wts?

It seems as though they are trying to figure things out over in New York. Point taken ATJ, ty.
I guess if I put myself in the shoes of a Bethelite, I would be pretty upset too, especially if it were my prime years. Being "thrown out' of Bethel, and to make things even worse, being thrown out into this economy, I would be bitter too.
Then you have the ones in Bethel still. you can IMAGINE the little gossip sessions going on with the decisions about who goes and who stays.
Edit: best not get to far off topic.
I guess one has to hope they learned something at Bethel, enough for them to be able to practice it in the "real world".

are learning the hard way how trustworthy the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses really are.
Is it really a matter of "trustworthiness" though? I'm definitely not definding the GB either, donlt get me wrong. Brothers and sisters "volunteered", it not as though there was a postition to be filled, with the expected outcome of being looked after for life, or was there?
What percentage of Bethelites are going to go as far as questioning teachings as a result of having to leave? Witnesses will just say they never had the right "heart condition" to begin with, so it's better off they left. Watch all this be misconstrued to "Jehovah cleaning the oraganization".
