I read a Drew Carey biography quite a long time ago...in it he brought out he was raised as a Dub. I think he would fit the bill.

Last night conversation with wifey
by winstonchurchill inshe commented on how clear the blood components/fractions issue was stated in the new book (we studied it this week).
i went along and yes, the chart is very clear on what's allowed and what not.. we were having dinner.
after a pause i asked her: "if i can eat potato, and i can eat beets, and i can eat carrots... then why can't i eat the whole salad?

I presented this to her in the most sincere way
Yeah I know, small stuff, but a giant leap for me.
Congratulations on your advancement, and in taking that leap in such a loving way.

We then formed a committee. She wasn't disfellowshipped at that time. Anyway, she had been carrying that around for years, that she wasn't guilty like it appeared to us then. Then today when she saw me, she brought that up. Strange.
Not to pick BF, as I do enjoy reading your posts, but in forming a commitee based on her being at her bf's house so early, would the fact that she wasn't guilty and that she had just stepped in for a minute, been already dealt with at that time? Wss she just reiterating?
Thats really awsome you apologised. I hope I have the opportunity to do the same some day.

Hello co-co.
On the island of Sumatra, there is a coffee that is apparently very good. So good in fact, it costs 300.00 a pound. It is made from ...the droppings of a local mammal. Kopi Luwak coffee. http://www.lifeaftercoffee.com/2005/09/16/the-straight-poop-on-kopi-luwak-coffee/
I have yet to try it..would you?

Faith necessary to please God is a great mind control trick to encourage gullibility
by frankiespeakin inthe way i see it faith; as used in the bible and specifically in the book of hebrews is a powerful tool used to encourage gullibility, and strongly discourages critical examination.. "and without faith it is impossible to please god, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.".
it is of course true that when those words were first put down in writing there wasn't the vast accumulation of scientific knowledge we have in our modern times, there wasn't any telescopes, microscopes, atomic accelerators, satellites, or serious studies in anthropology & archeology.
and so faith in an unseen biblical deity was not met with the huge amounts of critical data, in fact for a sizable portion it was forced upon them with the threat of torture or loss of life(such as inquisitions,& being put to the question).. back in the days proceeding from when the official cannon was sanctified by both the politically&religiously minded early church fathers with the states approval or support "faith" as described in the book of hebrews became not only a necessity for future benefits, but became a life or death matter as the church through its political maneuverings became more and more powerful.. so as i see it "faith" or uncritical acceptance of a jealous and murderous and contradictorally loving deity is losing ground as a mind controlling device, but is still being used by those of the who preach the word for a livelihood but with less and less success on the more informed.. .

Ps Sacremento - Just to draw out a bit of conversation here, regarding your and Megs exchange at the biginning of this thread. I understand where you are coming from, however, I do understand Megs as well. Help me along here with your thoughts regarding faith and questioning?
Questions are going to definitely going to build faith imo, at least to a larger degree. It seems to be that one can only build faith properly once their questions have answers and only when you feel good about the answers.
I have faith that my gf isn't going to be cheating on me while i'm out of town. I do not have the need to ask.
My thoughts are not completely formed in this regard found in your reasoning. It seems to me to be in the right direction though.

I went Japan a number of years back, and was there for a month. I lived among Japanese people, and they are the EPITOMY of polite. Not ALL the time, but very often, when a vehicle is stopped at ared light, they dim their lights, so they don't shine into the eyes of drivers on the other side of the intersection. Light turns green. Lights back on and off they go.
Old and young people, speak freely and openly together too. Mutual respect at it's finest.

I had one of those discussions this weekend - Am I getting anywhere?
by BonaFide inlast week during bible highlights, a sister commented on leviticus 19:28 about not having a tattoo.
i also commented, saying that we are not under the law, but the principle should be taken into consideration.. a sister i don't speak with very often called me.
she is in the same congregation as some of my family.

Along the lines of Kudra, I too read many of your posts BonaFide, but don't really have much to say. I take note, and decide if there is anything I can relate to, that perahps I can draw from.
I'm assuming that you MUST have some good "non confrontational" moments with ones in your congregation as well? I wouldnt imagine it to be too long before different ones get to talking about various conversations? You have balance of sorts somewhere in there?

I started off by saying how in Bible times, people tattooed the name of false Gods on their body, so that's why Jehovah said no tattoos.
Hello BF. I never heard this before, where is this brought out? thank you.
